The siren is actually one of my favorite knife in 2020. This is a great knife for camping and mobile kitchen vacationing. It’s like a large paring knife and maintenance free has been one of the biggest advantages for a daily use. I don’t carry but it’s part of my kitchen knives for paring duties. It’s great to have a knife that I can just simply wash with warm soapy water and air dry without worry abt rust. Great design!
Absolutely love mine. Carried it this past week since it arrived in the mail and don't see myself without it. It's just barely my largest folder but the weight makes this carry like a much smaller knife. Action is great, lock up is awesome, and the feel in hand is amazing. And I actually used it in the first week Instead of babying it like I typically do with knives I carry. You designed a hell of a knife Lance and I'm excited to get to carry it after waiting for so long since launch. Thank you!
Thanks Lance. I was late to the game picking up a siren. Went through a couple pacific salts before I pulled the trigger. I fish a lot in the gulf, and the fish hunter is my go to. I bought a siren to keep in waist band of my bike shorts primarily, but it is also in rotation for edc. Thoroughly enjoy the thought put into it, and the texture on g10 is fantastic. Wire clip is my favorite clip.
Just got mine. Not a fisherman, I actually live in the Sonoran desert but I must say this is a home run. Thanks Lance, I love the light weight, long no Choil, well executed Spyderco quality and just well thought out. Major Props 🤘🏻👍🏻
Great knife. Just got mine, and have a sprint run version on the way. I'm not a fisherman, so for me this is a regular EDC. Hoping for a Siren 2 in Magnacut in the future.
Thanks for clearing up that this isn’t just a fishing knife. Although I do fish, I’m not a daily or even weekly fisherman. My wife ordered me one last night for our one year anniversary. I’ve been waiting for this to come out for the last 6 months. I’m an Arborist (tree climber) in Charlotte, NC and it gets pretty humid here during the summer. My knives sit in my sweaty pocket all day and I’ve had several rust on me. I currently Carry the Spydiechef and love the LC200N but I prefer a back lock. I tried the Native 5 salt but it’s too small for my taste. This knife checks off all my boxes and I’m super excited about getting it. Thanks for finally designing what could be my one knife to rule them all. Also congrats about spyderco producing your designs!
Matt Hayes Thanks Matt, I grew up in Louisiana and did landscaping work when I was young so I know what you’re talking about. By lunch my clothes would be as wet as if I’d jumped in a swimming pool full of saltwater. I think the Siren will by an ideal design for your line of work. Enjoy!
i know im asking the wrong place but does any of you know of a way to log back into an instagram account..? I stupidly forgot the login password. I would appreciate any tricks you can give me!
@Jasper Saint i really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm trying it out now. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Lance, it was great hearing all your design choices behind the siren. The back lock was a perfect choice, the whole knife is so good 👌 I hope things get better for the people of Costa Rica, stay safe.
Dear Lance. I have both of your knives and I have to say they really stand out from my knife collection. I really enjoy handling them. They are really ergonomic and the LC200N quickly became my favorite knife steel. Keep up the good work. You did an outstanding job 👍
The waterway looks awesome and could easily be my next knife...but man I love a good lockback folder ! Using a knife in the winter with gloves on or when riding a motorcycle with gloves on I find the back lock to be the easiest to manipulate. It sounds like, after watching both the design videos you nailed it as far as making these perform exceptionally well for the outdoorsman. I just got rid of a few very nice knives that just did not work well enough for me when it came to processing fish/game. Undoubtedly these will work well for outdoor/general tasks as well, it is just nice to see a design that does not compromise too much when it comes to doing wet work! Now I just have to decide which one to get first!
Hey ZEUKI1 based on what you’re saying I think you’ll be happy with either one. If you want something you can easily carry everyday for more mundane tasks then maybe go with the Siren.
This knife is definitely tempting me. I've been using only a Cold Steel Code 4 for about four years, but the XHP had gotten a tiny bit of rust in that time and the brass washers are pretty corroded (still trying to find decent replacements). Pretty good for the amount of sweat and salty air it's been exposed to, but still. As for the Siren, my only criticism of the design is a common one for G10 knives. That is that the area under the clip isn't smoothed at all, which makes it eat your pocket over time. I'm curious what was chosen for use in the pivot. Teflon? I assume brass would have corrosion issues. I like Cold Steel, but I am looking forward to the day their lock patent expires like Benchmade's did. A Siren with a triad lock sounds awesome. It would also be cool to see a future version with similarly corrosion resistant hardware instead of coated screws and such. Thanks for fishing some food for the people over there that lost their jobs due to this covid BS. Have many of them started to fish as well? Seems like a decent way to get some free food. Teach a man to fish and all that.
Got one on it's way, cannot wait to get my hands on this thing, i've been waiting for a salt knife that actually looks dam good as well as having the strength to last a lifetime. Great job Lance, stay safe out there.
@@thefishrustler3893 Yeah man...I had to change the name of my RUclips channel because now I am using it to 'teach' my classes remotely. I had to learn how to upload videos, etc...pretty cool but doesn't quite replace face to face instruction in my opinion. Stay well.
I always love to have a chance to see the Designer to talk about and explain how they designed a knife. One question I would have is - why the dark color? I mean - if you drop it from your kayak the color won't matter much, but when fishing from the shore the knife would be easier to find in some brighter colors. Is this just your personal preference, or is there some other particular reason for the color choice?
Hey Lance, love the waterway but don't have the Siren. Just curious, did you get much input into the final cutting geometry of the edge? I've held off on the Siren mostly because the thickness behind the edge has been reported to be pretty thick or at least as thick as the manix 2.
The waterway is my favorite knife out on the boat. It is constantly on my hip and has been used and abused cutting up carp, shad, gill, and braided line. It took a few sharpenings before I got into the good steel but all in all, I love the design, sheath, and ergos. Lance, which knife do you find yourself using on the water the most? Waterway or Siren?
Hey Stephen O. I would say I end up using the Siren more than the Waterway. I find it convenient to be able to open a knife and trim line or perform other light tasks and quickly reclose it and drop it in the gunnel of the kayak. It’s actually quicker than unsheathing and re-sheathing the waterway. When it comes to heavier jobs like cutting bait or pulling fillets from my fish I pull out the Waterway but the lighter tasks outnumber the heavier ones so the Siren probably spends more actual time in my hand.
Getting a waterway. I would have preferred the hole on the siren to be the same size as the waterway. Or even have just a tiny crater or etched dot on both so it doesn't catch bones or muck.
don0giorgio last i heard they were achieving 58-59...same ballpark as s30v on hardness. It’s a good all around performer with great sharpening response and toughness. Makes for a very nice edc steel. But where it really shines is corrosion resistance
@@thefishrustler3893 thanks man, as far as i can see sales of siren go pretty well. Only place ive found it was knifecenter) any new designs coming out soon?
That's a good knife, but I don't get why the backspacer isn't blue as well -- that seems like a traditional design choice, otherwise the look isn't quite uniform. Spyderco should sell spare blue backspacers lol.
I fear fidgety knives on my kayak. Lock backs using both hands make me feel more secure from losing a knife. Thank you Lance, love my Siren.
That’s exactly why I chose a back lock for this one. Glad you’re enjoying yours! 🤙🏼👊🏼

This ones on my list now, I plan on using it for a "vacation" knife, camping food prep, fishing

Love this video, especially when you talk about giving to others, you just gained my respect sir. I may need to snag one of these knives also!

Great design man. Damn nice snapper too. Now I'm craving a blackened snapper sandwich.
Love the knife.
I had no idea about all the thought that went into the knife, great video and excellent knife!
I hope to get one soon.
Got this knife on April 15,2020. I like it.
Hey Lance, just got one of the Spyderco Sirens! Awesome knife!
Just ordered one from DLT Trading. Super stoked!
Wylde Bill got mine from DLT Thursday and you won’t be disappointed. I can’t put it down!
got the waterway and have been hunting the siren and have it on the way excellent knives
vyr01 right on man! Let us know how you like it!
Now waiting for this to be available in Canada, already have the waterway. Please do a closeup vid of the knife compared to the waterway
I’m sold. Pre-ordering one now. Hope all is well with you in Costa Rica. Cheers. (tangent on the spyderco forum)
Professor Drake Yeah tangent! Glad to hear you’re getting one! Let us know how you like it!

Great video! I was looking for some more information, because i might buy one soon, I need a secondary knife for the outdoors...

I was curious, is the backlock portion also lc200n? By the way, I love mine. Great design. The waterway is next on my list.
EDC elephant I believe he said it was stainless steel ... which has me cautious. I’d like it all to be lcn

Lance Clinton sounds like I’ll have to pick up a Siren. Good stuff Lance, tight lines brother.
I think I’m gonna order a couple more 👍🏻
What kayak do you use? I currently been looking into getting a good fishing one but I would mainly be in rivers and lakes
Getting a waterway. I would have preferred the hole on the siren to be the same size as the waterway. Or even have just a tiny crater or etched dot on both so it doesn't catch bones or muck.
Lance if you were going to recommend one of the salt series for edc use. What would it be?
I live on beans. I have this and the water way. Great for carrots and celery 👍. Kephart for peanut butter though.
Hey Lance bro! How the h are you man? Want to buy your siren, but havent found any info re hrc on the blades... What is the target hardness?
don0giorgio last i heard they were achieving 58-59...same ballpark as s30v on hardness. It’s a good all around performer with great sharpening response and toughness. Makes for a very nice edc steel. But where it really shines is corrosion resistance

This knife just makes too much sense for somebody who needs a svelte high performance tool. I ordered one yesterday, may get another as a gift.
I just ordered one
