Apple cider vinegar does do a lot sell bunch at my dads shop. My self go for purple on half and do the other half all day purple so can see difference. Choose purple because of my daughter she loves purple. Shared with daughter and friend Norm.
I'd dye my scales avocado green 🥑! Mmm so ripe. I shared it with my wife. She's said I have enough knives. I said yeah but no knives that remind me of guacamole. Then she made me some guacamole. I love her.
These are my favourite BladeHQ videos. It's always obvious that Knife Banter loves knives, but there's still that unmistakable conflict of interest as store representatives. Watching them nerd out and teach skills is so much more valuable than knowing what the latest hotness in knives is.
Nice colours on those knives! The patina process takes less than 20 minutes if you heat up the vinegar first and make sure it has at least 5-10% acid concentration.
I would dye it hunter orange! And I love how that blade came out oh my gosh 😍😍 amazing video I'd love more fun videos of ways to customize knife with y'all! I shared it with my best friend so hopefully we can go camping with it!
I would love to dye it a blood orange. I definitely think that would look good with a forced patina. I shared this video with my cousin actually. He's only about 6 months younger than I am and is not into EDC, gear, knives, firearms, etc however I recently gave him a spyderco tenacious from my collection because he now wants to carry a knife. That sweet pm3 would be a awesome replacement for said tenacious. Keep up the good work gents ! I enjoy watching these kinds of videos.
I was already planning on sharing this video with my friend Josh O. Because he just got a knife like this. I would dye mine Ben Blue so this is the perfect fit for me! Thanks for the great videos guys, i watch them whenever i get the BladeHQ post notification on my phone! Keep on cutting!
Either "Ben Blue" or a Blood Red/Crimson color. Thanks for making/sharing the video! May have to try this with a new para 3. Shared it with a friend, Jenna
My favorite color is green and I would love to try a sour apple color. Shared it with my wife so she doesn't think I bought it if I win haha. Gotta stay out of the dog house.
I would probably go with the Ben blue simply because Ben’s the guy who got me addicted to knives in the first place. Shared the video with my girlfriend because she lovingly watches knife banter with me every week when it comes out. Ben, you’re the coolest and Zac, I loved the custom micarta.
I'd do a super dark purple half at an angle and black for the other half. The purple would be towards the blade to show the contrast of the patina. I'm sharing this video with everyone on my contact list. Love you guys, Ben is the best kind of ham, and Zach, you're the kind of guy I'd lend a tool. Thanks for what you do.
Love Knife Banter and that Spyderco turned out sick! I'd dye it green for sure. Shared it with my Mom and she would dye it Purple all the time, every time lol.
I think I would try to dye it a deep cherry or maroon color although Ben blue is always my go-to! I shared this with the buddy I went to blade show with. The hot mess makes it so much more entertaining! Awesome meeting you Ben at blade show!
I used a big canning jar pot with lifter and put water in it and water in a pyrex loaf pan. Dye in loaf pan/dish rinses right out and scales lay flat with little water in pot or loaf pan. I did all parts at once to eliminate time temp sequence variations. This is so easy, they should make all their knives with the natural option to allow any color you want.
Green, but I don't Tweet, Snap or any of those things outside of FB... some of us old guys don't play that. However, I will share this visually with a buddy Scott, who coincidentally was in the industrial blade industry working out of Chicago for many years until moving out here to Phoenix. By the way, love the aprons.
I would do it in an orange color and probably go darker with the patina. I shared this with my brother-in-law as he likes knives to. Keep up the good work. Thank you.
Although I’m a huge sucker for blues, I’d dye that sucker a rich cocoa brown and match the blade with a forced petina. I’d definitely share it with my knife guy friends, especially my friend who likes to throw knives (in a “please-don’t-throw-my-new-knife-at-that-tree” sort of sense). Keep the videos coming and thanks for the opportunity!
tyler brewer there’s a common joke that Canada is northern USA/the US’s top hat. They said US only so I’m not technically even entered, but idk, if I do win maybe they’ll give me some of that apple cider vinegar instead :P
I absolutely love the “Ben Blue” color lol I shared this on Snapchat with my best friend from Utah actually! She says I’m addicted to knives but can you blame me 😂😂😂
Awesome video! Love that you are teaching people how to customize their knives! I would dye the scales Dusty Turquoise and put a darker patina on the blade and add a Lynch North West deep carry clip. I shared the video with my fiancé for future gift ideas. Keep up the great work!
I would have to do a deep purple and a super dark petina. Would look amazing IMO. Thanks for the idea guys, I'm really tempted to try this! I had to tell my buddy at work about it because he's into knives too. Thanks for the amazing videos guys, keep em coming!
I would definitely dye my knife Burgundy. I think it would look good because it is not too flashy, but it’s got a nice, dark, rich tone to it that would suite a tool like a knife pretty well. I shared this with one of my long time friends, Ben Prew. He agreed that Burgundy would look nice, but he thought that a deep gold would look cool too.
I love the color you guys dyed it, but I would dye it slightly darker, and I would patina it a little darker as well. I shared this with my brother, and he said that he would dye it scarlet, and keep the blade how it looked originally. Good luck to anyone who enters the contest!!!
Turned out nice. I actually have been experimenting with dying Spydercos I recently bought from BHQ. I have dyed two Spyderco Salts with the H1 blades and yellow handles. I take these with me fishing and snorkeling in the ocean so I wanted a fishy coloring. I dye only one half of the scales (length wise) in Kelly Green to make it look like a dorado (mahi). The end result is two-tone. I kept dipping half of it into the die with the knife blade half folded just holding onto the blade until I got the color I wanted and tilting the handle in the die to get the color to follow the curve of the handle. The liquid dye did not work well for me and I had to redo the first one using the powder dye. I then used a fine tip permanent blue marker for the blue dots of a lit up fish. The finished product turned out nice and really looks like a little dorado fish. My fishing buddies are envious and now they can watch your video and know how to make one for themselves. My next project is to figure out how to patina blades and I had planned to call BHQ to see if you had any suggestions but today I got your latest email and watched this video so now I can try that too. PS. Buy a sauce pan at the dollar store to use for dying to stay out of trouble with the wife. Great video showing how easy it is to do this. I would like to post a photo of my dyed knives for you but can't figure out how to do that.
I would dye mine a shade of red with a dark patina to the blade to match my Lynch Pocket Clip. I shared this video with my mother’s boyfriend, Will, as he is a huge knife enthusiast and has a collection that I aspire to have someday. Thanks for the great video!
I would die it a deep maroon just because I don't see alot of Spiderco knives with a deep maroon look, and it would really make that M4 pop! Shared it with my Twitter universe and my knive loving roomates! Cheers from Wisconsin guys! Great video!
I'm thinking maroon. My wife saw me watching this video and thought it was pretty cool the way this turned out. Anyways, I got a pink Lum that needs dying and patinafied. I'm inspirered now.
I would dye my Para that exact color.. big fan of benchmades blue. And I've always wanted a Para! I've shared this with my friend Chase via text message! Awesome videos guys. Keep it up! Yeeeeewww!!
I would absolutely dye mine a dark green with a darker patina. I sent it to my wife so she’d know what to expect should you make the mistake of not choosing me. Lol. Keep up the awesome work. Love the videos
Loving the blue and black. Would definitely do it and get the deep carry clip. Sent this in text to a few buddies. Know there's no chance of winning, but will still continue to watch. Thanks for the ideas fellas.
Living down in Louisiana, I would have to dye it nice royal purple, but still keep the scales' translucent quality. It would be my new gameday carry! I shared the video and my idea with my wife, just in case she is looking for a gift for our upcoming anniversary.
I would have dyed this a similar color, because I think light blue and grey is a killer combo! I shared this with my wife because I share all my interests with her haha.
I would do blue as well, maybe a bit more dark like denim, but those looked great. After showing this to my son, he wants to get one and customize it as well. Great vid, great channel. Keep it up.
I'd die it white or even charcoal gray. I think the patina is amazing! I showed my knife buddies, Bryce, Chevy, Jordan and Carter. This is definitely going to be a project of mine!
I’d dye it red but leave it for several hours to get a deep red. Also patina overnight like Ben suggested. Would also have to throw a lynch clip on it as well! I’m sharing this with my mother-in-law who loves spyderco.
Man, I can see why you love that Ben blue! I'd dye mine just a bit of a darker blue (ROOOYYAALL BLLUEEE). I shared this with my wife via email and she responded saying I better not be buying any more knives...
Count me in! I've RIT dyed a para 2 in digi-camo to black and a Tangram Orion a dark brown/purple. Really liking the blue on this one though! Oh and I shared this with my wife. Trying to get her into the hobby X)
The blue is pretty rad, if I were to do it myself I might go dark purple though. And I shared it with my buddy, cause we act silly while working on projects just like this!
I would go neon green on one scale, and bright blue on the other. I think I would go for a darker patina to contrast the bright scales. I shared this with my friend Michael, a fellow knife lover.
Oh I’d for sure dye one side soft pearl grey and the other side taupe. Force a patina with an acid wash and maybe even a stone wash after that 🙌🏻 I hope I win gentlemen! I shared this video with a few of the guys from my work including my boss. Thanks for the awesome video like always. Knife banter 👌🏻
I would dye it similar to an olive drab, love the patina. I shared this by sending the video through text to my fellow knife nut Ryan. Keep up the work guys.
I would dye it either a wolf grey or od green with that patina. It looks amazing, keep up the good work. I shared this with my buddy who is also a knife nut.
The GAW is now closed. Congratulations to The knife Life for winning the Ben Blue Para 3.
Awesome name
The knife Life Sure is I had it first lol
Apple cider vinegar does do a lot sell bunch at my dads shop. My self go for purple on half and do the other half all day purple so can see difference. Choose purple because of my daughter she loves purple. Shared with daughter and friend Norm.
Zack reminds me of my bio teacher
Hi
That "Say no to peer pressure" insert was pure gold. The knife community demands memes of that majestic gentleman + knives.
Also BHQ would make a killing selling natural g-10 handles after this vid.
Great marketing

Drop both scales in at the same time to ensure they have the same exposure/end up the same color.
That makes too much sense!
I am sharing this with my friend Rodger. He is an avid knife collector. When ever we get together we always talk about knives!
Nice colours on those knives!
The patina process takes less than 20 minutes if you heat up the vinegar first and make sure it has at least 5-10% acid concentration.
The most diverse knife channel out there lol. Awesome stuff!
I would try to black dye and try to get a see through smoke color I shared it with my brother joe

I would dye it hunter orange! And I love how that blade came out oh my gosh 😍😍 amazing video I'd love more fun videos of ways to customize knife with y'all! I shared it with my best friend so hopefully we can go camping with it!

Ben blue of course! Shared with my dad for bday ideas for him
Man, I can see why you love that Ben blue! I'd dye mine just a bit of a darker blue (ROOOYYAALL BLLUEEE). I shared this with my wife via email and she responded saying I better not be buying any more knives...
