I went to this game my first ever Anfield and football game in England....I was on Trial with York City at thst time coming from Sth Melbourne Hellas(Melbourne Australia)and one of the lads at York was great mates with McMahon ...I got to meet every player including the QPR players.....
To this day I still have photos off all the players (Group photos and 12 singles photos on my walls (man cave) watching this game brings unbelievable memories as my late father was with me at the time......
Meeting Johnston to be honest was inspirational his story behind what he went through to get where he is just the lift I needed to hear at that time.....

Did you play much for Hellas mate? I might recognise your name.

The great Clive Tyldesley commentating a quality match no diving, no play acting, quality football back when you could pass back, make tackles - God I long for those days. Thanks for posting.

      It's John Motson isn't it?

Clive Tydesley would've been commentating on whoever Everton where playing that day for Radio City.

One of the best squads, favourite kit iteration, should've won the double in consecutive years.
Loved this side as a kid.

And that's why john Barnes is my favourite LFC player of all time

Dave, I reckon this was the match that really had the whole crowd accepting Barnes. We all knew he was a dangerous player for Watford but that wasn't the only reason some booed him unfortunately when they did come to Anfield. No disrespect to Howie G but John changed the club for the better in my opinion.

Dave, where did you find all these new vids? I applaud you, and bemoan my lack of detective skills..

Hi Neil. I've been trading DVDs with a guy in Canada who got in contact when I posted videos on here a while ago. The recent ones are mostly from him (thanks William!). Hopefully there are a few more to come in the next few weeks to finish off 86/87.

Sweet, itd be good to find a few more from 85/86 and 87/88, some great games but frustratingly few games, your lists are exhaustive but there are games and goals id love to see...

Ha Dave what you think of this Liverpool side??? Best you have seen or near it?

It was a great side. Maybe the best but I find it hard to compare teams from different eras as the game changes so much. In this video (ruclips.net/video/oS9_pYNHMAc/видео.html) Ian St John and Tommy Smith are asked to compare this team to their 60s team, and say they'd all be sent off playing the game in the 80s. I think the same is probably true about this 80s team playing now. I'm just fortunate as a Liverpool fan to have seen a lot of great teams and players over the years.
