I’m an alcoholic and just found this song tonight... it’s giving me new hope for dealing with all my problems and I can’t stop listening... maybe one more day will make the difference...
I had bad depression and anxiety due to bad candida and doctors don't mention or deal with this horrible infection, only nutritionists. Alcoholism can lead to bad candida and will become a bad cycle where you find it hard to overcome the addiction as candida makes you depressed, fatigued and anxious and causes bad cravings for sugar, cheese and carbs as this is what it feeds on. Another thing that may help is to remove gluten and watch videos by Dr William Davis the author of Wheat Belly as to why it's bad for everyone, not just celiacs. One reason is the grains where remodified in the 70's to withstand harsh weather but was never tested properly on us to see how this will affect us. The grains are not being digested and sit in the gut causing inflammation and many health issues. It leads to a leaky gut and that leads to anxiety, arthritis and other inflammation illnesses. There is a chemical given off the grain that affects our mood and is especially bad in people with autism, Aspergers and ADHD. Many mums removed this from there problem children and were amazed in their childs behavior that they become more relaxed and well mannered. I too had issues and i'm not a celiac and with the rising levels of mental health issues, i think he has a point that this is bad as it also lowers vitamin absorption and that's a bad thing.

Seeing as I only just found out about her a few days ago and I hadn't heard anything of her before, I'd have to agree! I honestly don't remember this getting played on German radio back in the 90s (if it did, I blatantly missed it).

EXACTLY. Read the lyrics, but substitute the word Love with the name of Jesus - who IS Love - and it All is Still true and makes perfect sense.
In fact, I did just that - even before reading your comment.
Years ago, the Holy Spirit inspired me to do the same with the word Love in 1 Corinthians 13 - subsitute it with Jesus while reading it. And also, first by substituting the word Love with God - as Jesus is God. And God is Love.

Martika's Kitchen didn't have the sales that Martika did. The music industry was under going a seismic shift as record labels realised that grunge and rap were the next big things. Plus teen pop stars like Martika are usually only viable for a short time before audience tastes change.

This song will be in my life forever. My girlfriend a ng time ago had bulimia, a psychological sickness, pretty mean & hard. I did, everything to help her out from this world, always were very active to bring her on other thoughts to win over this dark world, went to shrink with her, studied the sickness and always brought her to laugh even if I were down or head with sorrows. I wrote to our local radio station a huge letter, explained where we are going true & asked if they could maybe play, this song for her (it is "our song" :) ). One evening they interrupted the radio program, said that they were so touched from my letter, and read there, what I wrote for, her, and this song, were, for her.. since then her mom calls me her son :) we won over the sickness.. this is now 17 years ago and I still have, a swarm of butterflies in my belly :D

I can’t imagine what it would be like to read Martina’s prayer & imagine up the music to make it FABULOUS. Prince has his version on RUclips to the EXACT SAME music track minus 1 instrumental moment in the song. I imagine it was his demo to her in how he imagined it to be sung. It’s the EXACT SAME music track - just Prince singing it as she did to the letter. That 1 instrument that lacked at first did enhance it. I remain in awe. I have the CD from Martika & the 45rpm of this song.

@Cosmic Creepers I was 17, and heard it alot back in the day. Had forgotten it existed till yesterday when I heard it on the radio and it brought memories of last year of high school right back.
It would not play in RUclips in some countries because of copyright stuff...I remember having to go to another website about a year ago to see this video...great to see it is available now to be viewed...it is a crime to prevent the newer generation from seeing this.
