This was a prayer Martika had written that Prince saw & decided she should sing it as a song. He composed the music for it. If I had to guess, based on how IDENTICAL her version is to this, this is likely his demo to show her how he envisioned the song being sung over his music. Her version IS this same music track except hers has a single instrument added in after the line “We are all blessed & so wise to accept….” That’s the ONLY deviation from this track that her song had. So this was totally a collaboration effort - as brilliant as Prince was & genius as well, for this one it took her lyrics & his musical talent to make it come to fruition. And he did that for so many other artists ppl don’t even realize.

Love this man so much. Saw him live in Manchester before he passed. He had lights on his sneakers so we couldn't lose him onstage when dark! At one point a fellow fan and I shook hands because we dug a solo so much it rocked our faces off. You can't do that today. And you can't see Prince today. But we have his music 💘
