- I was fed up of lying on the ground working under things. These ramps make that a bit easier.
Please feel free to use my plans as inspiration, all I ask is you hit the subscribe button.

I emailed this guy three times with questions and three times he answered. This is almost unheard of on a youtube video. This guy has my support. Great video with plans and a great guy.
i know im asking the wrong place but does someone know a trick to log back into an Instagram account..?
I stupidly lost the password. I love any tips you can offer me.
@Jadiel Hassan thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff atm.
Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Jadiel Hassan it worked and I finally got access to my account again. Im so happy!
Thank you so much, you saved my account !
@Jacoby Jeremias No problem :)
It Is good idea
Those are the coolest ramps I've seen. So simple but effective. If I were to build them I think the only thing different I would do would be put cross-bracing in them from top to bottom at a 45°. Great work man.
Oh man I would love this. I have a car that I need to remove frame rust and replace the body mounts. This will make the job 1000% easier.
Thank you. The idea is just wonderful.
I think right away. that if the center of gravity is shifted back, then no lifting beam will be needed. The car drove in and rolled over under its weight and stood up straight.....I'll probably do it. THANKS again for the idea.
I think you did a great job on this. Thanks for sharing your plans.
Great idea well executed.
Rather that lying under a vehicle that's not far from your face, with these ramps you have far more space, almost like having a pit. Great work !
I would have loved a pair of these not so many years ago. Nothing worse than crawling under a vehicle with zero headroom. Thanks for sharing.
I used to do it the poor man's way - stask up a bunch of 2x10 boards - staggered slope at the end todrive up onto them. Tody. all thse boards might cost as much as the the steel used in this one and the wood won't last nearly as long :-0)
A real nice job David. Keep on making more stuff for us to see too. Peace
Remember seeing this video years ago, and it pops back up on my recommended. Regards from Moray🏴🏴
I'd like to see a cross tube added front and back through which another tube could be slid right across to link the two units together. You could drill the cross tubes for pins with holes in the links every two inches. You'd still have full track adjustability, but the cross tubes would reduce sideways racking and prevent a parallelogram collapse.
Great job 👍.
I would add more triangulation in the weight bearing areas.
Great build and presentation.
Thanks for sharing. This will be life changing. I'll share thoughts and experiences when built and used
As said before building and now using.... life changing tool !!! was a bit jumpy while driving on them with a gigantic ford ranchero... very difficult to see the left front wheel... automatic trans and weird acting carb... but all went smooth ! I may add something to tie/untie those two and gain some rigidity, we'll see
Anyway, thanks again David for sharing your knowledge!
@@adrianthracite5585 I have mine in front of my shop and I have place those long closet mirrors to see my front so I don't have to get in and out. Works.
Excellent. I need to do a few jobs on my Landy and was thinking of building an inspection pit but then saw this. It´s probably cheaper to make and easier to take with me if I move than the pit! Thanks a lot mate. Subbed
Me too. Great idea. Subbed!
Like it Excellent 👌 job I may build one just like that cool surprise to give my son.
Just the ticket. I mangled two mouldy ramps I made out of a manky old car transporter driving my diesel Alfa up on it and I've been eyeballing my scrap pile looking to make simple ramps it won't crush. You've confirmed what my gut feeling the 50x50x3 angle I have is both insufficient in length and thickness. 50x50x5 sounds far better, and it won't be all rusty.
Subscribed, loving the delivery, and just enough detail to figure out the bits I need to copy.
Very very nice design and functional and use. I need to make these !! Thank you for sharing. You mentioned that the plans are available. oops ..I just found your plans in a subsequent post. thanks much David !!
Your ramps are brilliant me and my son love this stuff we love doing our motors and your ramps or should I say exact same ramps as yours is just what we need. We love em.
Great video mate ! Even greater name ! Long live the clan .... from Australia 🇦🇺 all the wae back tae Scotland 🏴
Outstanding set of ramps there fella 👌👍
Excellent video. Terrific ramps.
Car showroom use something very similar.
Personally I'd add a few cross-members too for strength and safety and you could modify the jacking bar and add another thinner one further along, to ensure the correct distance is "locked in" between them and so that they don't separate ;)
Great Ramps Brother, I hit those buttons for ya as a thank you for posting the vid and making your plans freely available. I see from the comments you actually respond to people who message you also so good for you Brother. Off to get some steel together now cause just like u I'm sick of clawing around on the wet ground outside my home here and at 55, it ain't getting any easier....until now 👍 Thanks and God Bless 🙏
Excellent work. It's great that they're separate too not only are they adjustable to any vehicle they can be lost down the side of the garage when not in use. Might get round to making some myself. I've liked and subscribed too
That was my plan as well, I can put them away when not in use. Only thing is they are almost always in use now. :)
Personally, I'd probably drill several holes on either side and attach a large cross member that you could put some heavy duty pins through to help prevent lateral movement.
Good point. If u are taking off a toyota harmonic balancer from underneath, I feel like 180ft pounds might be some sketchy lateral force on this here. Still a great idea, he did a great job here 😁
@@dackbowland1876 they make impact guns for that kinda of job lol
@@mexicanic4976 impact guns that will stop at a specific torque spec?
@@dackbowland1876 why do you need it to stop if you are taking the balancer off?
@@mexicanic4976 well you would be putting another one on with a torque wrench set to 180 ft pounds right. No other reason to take one off
Great idea. I might modify this to fit my riding mower for cleaning and servicing. Thanks.
Nice! I would add some cross members for added security.
Not bad you say??? Bloody Marvellous I would say, well done! I'm deeply impressed I look forward to seeing more of your videos
Fabulous, one of the best inventions I've seen yet :)
David, for me, just a brilliant idea, going by your kit and the amount of spare angle iron and rebar, YOU CAN WELD, and if it can hold a fully loaded van then brilliant, just need something to support a family car, I’m not building the Titanic, thanks for sharing 👍😃 subbed
LOOKS LIKE IT CAN HOLD ANYTHING...LOT OF ANGLE IRON!!.. GOOD JOB!
YEAH HE REALLY DID A NICE JOB HERE. WOULD MAKE EXHAUST WORK A BREEZE
You're a talented genius, very elegant design and functionality. Thanks for uploading. Subscribed.
i used your plans for the ramp ... best thing i done in my life .. good work mate cheers.
Best lift for home , nice work men
This is insane. Exactly what I was looking for! I’m hoping to get a welder soon and binge several hours of videos and teach myself.
This is not something you want to try and learn how to weld on for you're first time lol
you are right this is insane, stay clear of this death contraption. Buy a proper engineered lift. What is a trip to the ER going to cost you?
Nice! Thanks for posting!
For sharing with all of us, cheers m8.
Superb, congratulations 👏 in the future I think I will make my own ramps like yours.
Awesome idea can't believe I never thought to make these .needs way more work but good idea
Thanks for the video. Excellent job. Subbed.
Great Stuff. and great video. I will increase the length of the extensions and lessen the angle of the incline to allow for low clearance vehicles
You are a legend. I live in Fiji and the knowledge you have shared and its much appreciated.
If you could come up with a simple design of a jack and jack stand in one would be grate. Keep it up and you have gotten yourself a subscriber. GB
This has to be one of the coolest ideas I’ve ever seen
excelente trabajo!!! muy buena idea!!!. saludos desde Mexico.
Awesome ramps, great video, top man
great job! pretty simple yet genius
Nice, looks like it works good and not a very high cost.
I’m impressed. Very impressed.
Useful! Great job mate!
Great job 👍🏻
looks great! very impressive!
Brilliant. Enjoyed watching this and subbed.
Ace Futura 👍
This is pretty cool!
Looks like a decent idea though I would throw some lateral strength at key points across length and width box sections👍🏼
agreed, some cross bracing would make me feel a lot better about those. I am doubtful this is actually 'engineered'. And I dont like the idea of being under the vehicle while jacking it up, there has to be a better way.
Cracking set of ramps
What an awesome set of ramps, I love the lifting bar..........also to all the guys saying it needs cross members and strengthening.......it's holding a van........the guy said he had a 3 tonne pick up on it............it's fine as it is. (I need to learn to weld) 😉
Brilliant mate - these look like shop-bought ones! subbed
Nice done, you got my blessing.
absolutely AMAZING wish I had these it would really make life easier
Great idea and quality job as well thank a lot brother
you're sick with it dude. great job
Impressive work :-)
You're attitude is as awesome as this job. No electricity no nothing. I fucking love it. The leveler is brilliant too. The only addition would be to drop the wheels. So you could maybe install bottle jacks.. with integrated jack stands, insert blocks, pull the pins then release the pressure let them fall and you've got a full service available. Awesome.
Bloody good job
now that I’ve seen them the only change I would make is possibly make the base 25% wider than the top I wonder how that would go........
Bought a set of these off a car dealership 25 yrs ago for 400 bucks, they work great, kind of a low budget car lift.
Superb sturdy construction. Only observation (NOT a criticism) - I would have to paint the jacking beam black as well - it would bother me 🙄
Wonderful and Interesting!!
Great video and great job.
Cannabis oil cat
I'm doing this! Just subscribed thank you
Never thought about ramps but I needed an auto elevator . Cool 👍
Very good for space constraints.
Great job.
Nice bit of fabrication mate, good job. Have a look at car tilters, might be a good future project.
Bloody brilliant!
Well done! This is what i am looking for...Thank you!
Fantastic idea just the right height to be sitting on workshop chair with wheels. Where can I get detailed dimensions from?
The only improvement I’d make is to add a triangulation diagonal between some of the verticals to brace it - it might not need it but I’d worry about the domino effect.
Edit, should have read the other comments! 😃
The back part is basically a giant triangle and will hold shape. That also means that the top and back vertical of the rectangle up front will stay in place. So if they welds are solid, it can't move.
Left to right I'd definitely put in some cross member. Also in the top and bottom.
And one in the front rectangle in each side to take some load of the joints.
@@michiel5160 the diagonal members of those ramps do not count as bracing, nobody should be using these. Also have you ever seen any engineered device that requires you to be under the load while lifting? This is one of the most ill-advised DIY disasters waiting to happen that I have ever seen on you-tube. But hey, if in doubt just add more metal glue, right?
Great job 👍
wow very cool, this would be good for flood areas to save cars too =)
That's nice and big toy for real man! Nice job!
Those are awesome! I wish I could weld.
В этой конструкции замечательно абсолютно всё. Сложится она в бок это 100%, вопрос времени. Не хватает диагональных связей по узкой стороне трапа.
good point
Awesome brother
Nice job! 👍🏻
Super nice job.
Wie geil ist das denn, Top und toll zum nachbauen.
This is a cool project, I would add some diagonals though. Got me subbed!!
Exactly what I was thinking, the diagonals offer strength, triangle is the most stable geometric form
Thank you for your explanations and your plans. I will realize these systems but with a modification. I will integrate a winch in case the vehicle breaks down.
Similar to what I’ve used but the removable ramps were hinged to take the weight at the back to save having to fit the legs.
Great build and video, when I was at school in the late 70s I designed something similar to this in my design and technology class but wasn't allowed to build it cos it was such a big build 😡 lol
great work !!!
Great job 👍👍🏻👍🏼👍🏽👍🏾👍🏿
Construction complete!
You clever man 💪🏽❤️👌🏽
Good job:)
With respect as a fabricator of 44 yrs you should add more bracing to the sides. Also if you are putting trucks on it i would reccomend using box section as vertical struts. Great vid.
Tranks for measurements, just finished 3D drawinf for me - gonna build this one in spring.
This one is my winter project, serviced the auto transmission today 7 hours of laying down as well as up and down under a the car. oh my back. Love the hoist good work quick and easy and no Japaneasy.
The leg at the back can slip down like this, you should add some jack stand underneath the back cross member.
I know there are 4 but it's only held by pressure, having a secondary lock can probably save you from a big accident
Im an engineer with a civil/structural background, this whole thing is sketch AF. I cant believe someone distributes these plans and that anyone looks at this and thinks its a good idea. Anyone who can't see what's wrong with this also should not be working on any vehicle.........
nice job!
I need these too
Great project
