    Great review as always! Fair and unbiased. I agree with everything you said. I was always under the impression that the I7 was the best one to date, with it's dual roller design etc. I'm a bit surprised it didn't do better. I'm glad there's channels like this where people actually go through all the trouble of putting these machines to the ultimate test. Good job! Thanks for the videos.

      We really did like the i7 and it is better than a lot of robots out there, but in terms of pure cleaning ability it seems to be a downgrade from the Roomba 980, and not nearly as good as the other two other than the clean base which I think is awesome. Thanks for the kind words and for stopping by!

      I have the Roomba i7+ and it does an excellent cleaning job. The auto dirt empty is an excellent feature as you don't have the vacuum sitting in the middle of the floor when the bin is full. Also, with the auto empty you don't have dust flying around by manually emptying the dust bin in the garbage.

    Not surprised that Neato and Xiaomi are winners here. My 5 cents, though. To anyone who would like to integrate your vacuum with a smart home hub like Home Assistant, and those who care about privacy I would say that Neato has a better API to control it directly. Xiaomi does not officially allow direct control of their vacuum cleaners without using their app and\or their cloud service. There are ways to hack it, but they are just that - hacks, and may stop working at any moment. For example to make it work you need to install an OLD version of their Mi Home app, connect to robot, then using command line tool extract sqlite database from the app, and then open it in db editor and copy access token value from there. Then you can control it. None of that is required with Neato. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

    I've had the Neato D7 for over a year now and it really is a great robot. Helps me out a lot. It literally never gets stuck, has very effective navigation and it's an investment that really pays off. I personally have it clean my whole place on Sat, while I'm home doing other stuff like laundry, dusting etc because it's such a nice feeling to do chores and have a robot at work at the same time. Feels less cumbersome to do them like that. It's also scheduled to do specific areas throughout the week when I'm at work.

    How can You put Neato D7 on top, when it costs almost twice as much as Roborock S5 (S50)? When the performance equals out, then the price should be a tie braker. This conclusion left me confused...
    but other than that, the review was great.

    • @nerdsomnia
      @nerdsomnia 5 лет назад +12

      He mentioned he valued bin size, which was 2.5 cups for the neato vs 1 cup for the roborock.

      @bigbadboogie6842 5 лет назад +19

      @@nerdsomniai dont get your reasoning, he said it was a tie based on performance and features and the question above was why he did not include price. Your answer is not an answer to the question its just one of the advantages of ONE of the robots :-)

    • @nerdsomnia
      @nerdsomnia 5 лет назад +14

      @@bigbadboogie6842 That's fair. It's very rational to say by virtue of identical features (which it isn't the roborock has a wet mop), and performance (not really either), the price of the Roborock would definitely make it a stronger purchase option.
      However, his metrics to get to the tie was to assign a number to each category, adding them together based on performance against the other competition. The overall score was a tie, but he broke it based on his personal judgement.
      Also, watching the other videos, he really likes a larger bin. In the end, no truth is void of subjective opinion.

    • @reallifelag
      @reallifelag 5 лет назад +7

      Shouldn't the Roborock be placed in the mid Tier tree ? It might have top Tier features but price wise it's as cheap as the Neato D3, so if you have to choose the winner from mid Tier or the Roborock which is 2nd from top Tier,I strongly suggest you buy the Roborock.

    We made the robo vacuum jump in December. Got a Roomba 890 for sale at $399. I found it did a good job, but left rolled up carpet pile everywhere (and watching it was so frustrating). A few weeks later, and after watching all of your videos, the D5 went on sale at Best Buy for $399, so I immediately exchanged them. How could I not? The difference is incredible. Not only does it pick up better, not leaving rolls of carpet pile everywhere, but thanks to navigation, I didn't have to block rooms because they had the Christmas tree, or use the eye for classic radiators. It also does the whole downstairs in like 25 minutes.
    Thank you for such a great series, and helping me find the right vacuum for me!

    I have an S5, the thing is an absolute monster...I love it! The dust bin size has not been an issue for me, when it docks after a cleanup, I just empty it before it recharges and resumes cleaning. Mine cleans for ~140min average (highest has been 183min). Sometimes I use the turbo mode, but most often I just leave it on balanced. I've used older Roomba's and they simply don't come remotely close. I would HIGHLY recommend this vac. The S5 is also cheaper!

    Great video! I bought a Roomba 985 from Costco last week and could not get the Wi-Fi functionality to work. After no luck with tech support (very bad) I returned it to Costco. I still wanted a replacement for my old Roomba 550, I found Vacuum Wars and after watching this and other videos - I bought the S5. What a great product! I just recently got the Roborock S5. Its really good and I recommend it.
    It learnt the apartment and navigates around well. It did struggle to get up one side of our plush rug from hardflooring but learnt an area it can climb it and returns to that spot to climb onto the rug so it adapts its maps. Only downside is I feel carpet mode activates too slowly and it doesnt slowdown its travel speed. Maybe future update can change this.
    Price point was expensive but good value when comparing features to the others of equal or higher price.
    Barrier lines and zones work well and spot zone cleaning can do multiple areas up to 3times each area.

    Do you do any reviews on the overall longevity of the battery? Not battery runtime, but how long before the battery will last before it needs to be replaced? I've owned a couple Neatos and Roombas and the batteries lost a lot of their range quickly and to replace the battery it was relatively expensive. I imagine the battery is the fist thing to die in many of these. Given advances in battery tech, it might be good to also consider the battery technology used (not just lifetime of a single run), and the expected longevity (or cost to replace) the battery once it dies. I find that this topic is not covered in reviews but is a huge consideration (or pain point) for me when deciding on which robot vacuum to get next.

At least there is no learning curve/programming app to mess with! also, keep in mind that if you have any rugs w/ black patches on them, the vac's drop sensors will read that as a drop and not go over those areas. unfortunately, my oriental rug gets high traffic and has some large patches of black in the design. eufy (and maybe other robotic vacs w/ drop sensors) won't cover that.

    So my concern is that when spring summer and fall is upon us my cats loved to eat grass which unfortunately they can regurgitate on the hard wood floors. Now if I buy an model of cordless vacuum and program it to start while I am at work I cannot know if a cat may have had an accident. What happens to a Neato D 3-4 or 5 if it goes over a wet spot ? Have we seen a review with this unfortunate accident style of problem?

    I have a first gen Xiaomi vacuum that doesn't fair all that well on carpet (I have an entire floor that is just carpet). It looks like the D7 and the newer gen Roborock fair much better. Would either of these work well on a carpet only floor?

    I love the details in the review. I have and use a Neato D5 for about 2 months now and I love it. Price was great too as it was a Christmas gift for my wife and it was $399 USD. We get a cleaning of our first floor home which is around 1000sq ft. (Space we zone it to) it cleans well and does it in around 1 hour every night

    Just bought a Neato D3 for our apartment with a cat on Amazon for $320. I sapped out the standard filter for an ultra high performance filter (there all cross compatible) and it is phenomenal! It picks up so much cat hair and dust and always finds its way back. Definitely the best bang for your buck! That being said, if you have a larger home, I would recommend the D5 for the larger battery.

    Had various flavors of Roomba, Neato...and now Roborock for last 3 Months...Roborock seems to handle my entire flow with ease...only issue I am facing is, it stops vacuuming occasionally, complaining about "main brush issue" and this happens only on carpet, I hit clean again and it restarts cleaning...hope they fix this issue by redesigning the main-brush..

    These videos are really informative - they're expensive items and it's nice to see unbiased testing before you blow a few hundred bucks! Did you do anything on automatic window cleaners yet? I had a couple of Roombas but they really didn't suit my needs. I have a dog that starts to shed at the end of February enough hair to create a couple of other dogs! I thought a robot vacuum was the solution but it isn't - it blows dust bunnies all over the place. The best thing I purchased was a Dyson Animal. What's so good about it is the light, easy access handling making it a charm to grab and sweep up the floor regularly. Having the motor blowing from the top keeps the dust bunnies from flying all over the room. It is easily the most efficient tool to pick up animal hair.

    Roborock S5 is the best for me. It was incredibly cheap, got it for $450 AUD, but then a month after it was $350 on eBay for Christmas and I was like... damn! It's affordable for even a frugal frog like me. The firmware updates and software updates are frequent and pretty nice. On Christmas there was an update to the voice pack which made the robot play some Christmas music.
    Not sure if the neato vacuum has sensors for cleaning out the bin/vac sensors, but the Roborock just does so well with letting me know when my bin is full. The house is so clean now that the bin only has to be emptied twice a week, as everything is just maintained so cleanly! Also, the attachments for the s5 are dirt cheap. Really glad I have my roborock!

  • @Frostensen
    @Frostensen 4 года назад

    I wonder if someone can can help with 2 questions
    1) how S5 reports the full bin? Does it send a msg and stops until emptied or?
    2) I read a couple of comments here stating Neato becomes confused when furniture is moved and starts mapping again. From what I understand some Roombas adapt but I don't know what s5/s50 does when furniture is moved a bit here or there (chairs)

    Question: I have a split level home. I want to carry my bot upstairs and let it run. For those bots that learn the floor plan, will this cause an issue? I see that some of the Neato bots have the option for multiple floor plans, not sure if I will need to go that route for best results / least headaches.

    Hi, I really appreciate your reviews. I bought a Eufy 15C for my wife for Christmas and we have not been impressed. It gets stuck, a lot. After looking at your reviews, I think we will go with the Roborock E25, BUT you gave the Neato D3 the nod here, so there's a little bit of a quandary. My question is: Since the Roborock is $100 cheaper than the Neato, is the D3/D4 worth that much more? The area to be cleaned is mixed between laminate, vinyl, tile and area rugs that are thin, (1/4"to 3/8" thick). Thank you for your thoughts on this!

    • @VacuumWars
      @VacuumWars  5 лет назад

      I think it comes down to the "nogo lines", if your robot getting stuck is your issue you will really appreciate the nogo lines feature which is not available on the Roborock E25

    The Neato lines have a serious function problems. They just stop working. I have a D80 had it repaired twice under warranty before the first year. Then it worked for 3 months and started with the same problem. wont charge, says turn it on when its already on. So ive been waiting for someone to do a real review and I get this that says its awesome. But I look at the Amazon reviews and I see that it still has the same issues. Can you please do a 90 day intensive review on the top 2 of every level?

    This roborock is the xiaomi v2? Or the xiaomi is the roborock? I don't use mop so without mop the xiaomi v1 is even cheaper and does the same. But the video was about the best and not the best cost benefit so great video! It really looks the best one but for less 300 euros I go for the xiaomi v1.

    Watched all your videos and went with the Neato D7. It has been fantastic so far and works great. Still amazed at how well it works and cleans. Having multiple floor plans stored in the app is a huge benefit as well. No go lines and separate zone cleaning is a great option. Dust bin size seems to be one of the best in the industry. I read many reviews for the S5 and while many are great there are some issues with customer service and primarily being a Chinese import. The dust bin size is really small and currently can only have one floor plan which was a dealbreaker for me but otherwise seems like a great cleaning robot. If you can find sale prices both the D7 and S5 are the same price and both are almost half the price of the i7 so it’s a no brainer. Enjoyed this video comparing all these models.

    It would be interesting to have two things addressed: In the end, did the high-level machines clean better vs. the mid-level to justify the increase in price? Second, can any of these be used with oriental carpets with fringes without risking damage to the fringe?
