I think it'd be most interesting if Jake and Amir both end up working at Headgum in-universe, but aren't necessarily the owners/creators. Makes space for Geoff and Riley to be in these. Oh my god I want to see Ricky Van Veen appear somewhere in this series that'd be crazy. Bring some CH alum!
Agreed! I'm really happy they're doing it again, but it feels a bit lacking in the character department. There used to be tiny amounts of drama between them and other coworkers, and in the 2008-2010 days you actually got a bit invested in their characters. They're still funny, but they focus a lot more on being topical and coming up with witty puns (which might just be what the younger audience wants. I just want them to be successful so if they keep going this route I respect it).

I think naturalism always served the comedy in JnA better than non-naturalism, especially in Amir's delivery.

A criticism I intend constructively: When Jake and Amir was in the Collegehumor office, it helped to establish the premise that Jake was stuck with amir because they just happened to be seated next to each other at the job. In this more intimate setting, the sense that Jake is just trying to go about his business and get through another day at the office is lost. Here, it looks like they chose to work together. I think Jake is a much stronger straight man character in that "big office" setting, though I admit that it may be a challenge to reproduce it. The simplest thing I can think of would be to have them in a cubicle or something enclosed like that, and edit in some office chatter that suggests a larger environment outside of the cubicle. That's not to shit on the episode as a whole though; I quite liked it except for that, and I'll always watch new episodes. I especially liked Jake interrupting Amir's fart
Maybe you can think of it like this- Jake and Amir have gone into business together and now he has no choice but to stay in it. Logic never made sense in this series anyway. Amir should have been fired long time ago from Collegehumor but didn't. Jake could have quit there too but didn't. Jake needs Amir because while he himself is an insecure and pathetic person, he becomes relatively normal around Amir. That's why even though he acts like he hates being around Amir, he doesn't take active actions to distance himself from Amir.

Glad the series is back :) Although the evolution of Amirs character (especially towards the end of their Collegehumor days) isn't my cup of tea. I know it's not the writing, because I enjoy their other stuff at Headgum and really vibe with their humor and improv off camera. The 2010-2012 character arc for Amir was absolutely golden, so much so that I physically can't enjoy the newer stuff as much because I keep comparing it to days gone. If I had one wish for the future of the series, it would be spinning some more creative sketches to recapture the spark it once held, rather than the desk argument formula :D
As much as I love just the skits, they need like an establishing episode of why theyve linked up back up? Like the new office episodes back in the day. I know its all about the comedy but it's still a series after all- a little story context would be awesome
