As a brit, this is just overpriced, and not even "traditional" fish and chips. We don't serve it with salad, or little bowls and yikes, the portion of fish is TINY.
You need to find an old fish and chip shop, one that isn't in the middle of Soho, and marketed towards tourists who will pay almost £20 for a tiny piece of fish. You'll get better fish and chips from the chain pub Wetherspoons if you must go there. Americans always go to these places, or like Gordon Ramsay's Fish and Chips restaurants, but it's NEVER like actual, real, traditional fish and chips.

You need malt vinegar for the full experience! Looks good, but I think there’s better places in London for fish and chips IMHO.

To get the genuine "Fish and Chips" experience it must be a from a chip shop not a restaurant! You wait in a queue while the next batch of chips are in the fryer then when they are ready they are served to you wrapped in paper (the same kind newspapers are printed on) just before they wrap them you add salt and malt vinegar to taste. Then you eat them outside in the street with your fingers. :)

It’s decent, it’s a tradition in my household on a Friday we have fish & chips here in England, definitely need vinegar, some people have it with mushy peas, or curry sauce, same prices as well from what I see and I’m 100 miles from London.
I’ll have to try it with malt vinegar next time!

Personally I think there's two types of fish & chips- restaurant and takeaway. Restaurant is what you had, with the tartare sauce and all, the other kind is a good takeaway chippy. Best place to go for that is up north, have an enormous piece of fresh cod, a portion of chips to feed a family, and plenty of lashings of salt & vinegar. Usually wrapped in paper or a cardboard box.

AK really enjoy the fish N chips....usually add some salt & vinegar will do....most of the fish are cod fish 🐟...delicious recipe...usually the chief has to attend a FNC collegel to get a certificate for his establishment...believe it or not, you find it out...

You need to learn how to use a fork before you come to the UK. Its not a spear to just spear the fish. This really annoys me that Americans cant use a knife, and a fork is just to spear the food.

For my money, the Lobster Pot in Liverpool is the best fish & chips I’ve had in the UK. Malt vinegar is great on chips. A nice change from ketchup. Be sure and go to an Indian restaurant,too, while you’re in the UK. Believe it or not, Chicken Tikka Masala is England’s national dish!! I’m a fan of good Chicken Korma - not always easy to find.
