I've just bought the 4g version and so far am impressed... to be fair, my last phone was a j5 so this is a massive upgrade for me. I don't do gaming and mostly use it for RUclips, social media and making phone calls... so performance is fine for what I need it for and 5g isn't a deal breaker. My biggest consideration was the Android version and future updates, as I don't want to keep buying new phones every time my bank decide my android version isn't new enough...
I currently have a J5 looking at the 4G/5G version also. I hope the A13 4G/5G is sturdy enough. The all metal is what I liked about the J5. Would be covered at all times 360 degrees in silicone gel cover at the least. I am going for the 5G version the speed difference is a big factor for me. A game I play at work all the time should load a lot faster.

I bought a green silicone case off Amazon that is a very snug fit, with a metal ring on the back to mount on magnetic dash holder. It also came with a couple of tempered glass screen protectors but I haven't decided whether I will put them on yet, as this model has gorilla glass 6...

I had brought 5G version. I don't have 4G version. So, no comparation from me, but I think 1) if your place has 5G Network, you should consider 5G version, 2) a faster cpu preferable in case user sensitive to it. 3) 4G version seemed more attractive for photos lovers. 4) Nice 2nd backup phone, if you have 2 sim cards.
While I would buy the 5G for a faster phone to play games on, but I really like the 4G one too, mostly because of the resolution and either way both phones would be a huge upgrade from my current phone so I'll go for the 4G model. Thanks for comparing the two though, it helped a lot!
Idk Two: Yes, first world problems, re the trade-offs. After growing up with horrible old cars from the 60's that broke down a LOT, I'm always so amazed / delighted at the features, quality, and convenience of modern middle class cars, that I'm super happy to just get a minimal-featured model and save a bunch of money. So same thing for me re the HUGE upgrade for any decent smart phone -- my current phone is a 2005-ish flip phone that still works great, and costs me a GRAND TOTAL of $106 a year for calls, texts, and sales tax (pay as you go grandfathered Verizon plan), but with 3G going away even with Verizon by year-end, I'm forced to upgrade phone, and I might as well enter the modern era and get a smart phone and data plan, even if I still will do 95% of my gaming on my laptops, etc.
@@rogergeyer9851 Just a heads up, if you want to save money on a phone, get this A13 5G phone on Tracfone's pay as you go site. It is tricky, but if you set set it up right, you can buy a full year's service for about $49, then add the minutes, texts, and data you need separately as add ons. I am using this as a back up phone and it is currently paid up through April 2024 with 10 GB data, 1200 minutes of talk time, and 1200 text messages. Anything you don't use just rolls over as long you make sure you have what they call service days left.
Could Samsung's current lineup of phones be anymore confusing? Without RUclipsrs like tech daily explaining the differences, average consumers aren't going to know what they are buying in the store.
I have owned mine one year, and you won't be disappointed. It's a solid phone. FYI: Samsung has sold over 30M of them! They're very popular. I would advise keeping it in a protective case and using a screen protector.

i appreciate the review, comparison, and explanation of the differences. I agree that the way Samsung is handling this is a bit bizarre, re feature, quality, etc. trade-offs on these. Looking for a smart phone for the first time (I've got all the internet I need at home, multiple OS's on various laptops, etc, but we're getting to where QR codes, digital coupons, etc. are getting to be mighty mainstream), I'm actually thinking that for a mid-range Galaxy phone with 4 years of OS updates, 5 years of security updates, and plenty of mid-range performance, that for the money, the A53 5G, now selling at about $350 on places like Amazon (vs. the $450 release price), might be the best deal, considering processor, cameras, screen, speakers, refresh rate, etc. The main thing I don't like on the A53 5G (and I have plenty of company, per internet comments) is the omission of the headphone jack, as I don't need or want to pay for wireless headphones, etc. In many ways, Apple's offerings are simpler and more comprehensible with far less choices, but of course, they're all at the Samsung flagship phone prices, which is a major drawback for someone what does NOT want to "live on their phone" many hours a day.
my galaxy A13 5G was having severe defective issues within 2 weeks of owning it (especially the screen which had blue lines most of the time) and now i own the nord N200. just wish the 4G version was available at carriers then i wouldve gotten it instead of the N200. but both A13s are very good for their asked prices! great video as always wade and i would love to see a comparison with the A12!

I was given this A13 LTE for free from a friend and honestly it's not bad at all, it definitely won't replace either my Pixel 6a or Pixel 6 Pro, but hey it's not too shabby for the basics.

Nothing? A13 (4G) got Exynos chip, so if you are looking for a phone that is not made in China/Taiwan, this is your only option with 3.5mm. That's the reason why I would choose A13 instead of S22 or any phone with Apple, Snapdragon or MediaTek chip.
5000 mAh with 60 Hz is better than 90 Hz or 120 Hz, if you are looking for good battery life with no much extra weight. I use my phone only for Signal and Brave, so A13 seems great.

I don't know if it's available in the USA or not because no reviewers mentioned it, but there's a mediatek version of the 13 4G LTE, and in terms of performance it seems to fall in between the exynos variant and the 5g model. Ironically both the exynos and mediatek version are being sold alongside each other as the same exact phone, so you really need to check the specs before buying over here in Europe, but at least the mediatek version seems to be capable enough to handle basic stuff without too much lag. Geek bench scores are 304 single core, 794 multi core.

Sure the A53 will get more software updates, but that phone is already slow and laggy as hell, who cares about updates? @Carl Gunderson It isn't better and just watch reviews of either phone, A52s ha no issues with basic tasks or gaming, the A53 hangs a lot just while navigating the ui.. oh and you may not care how fast your phone is, but the thing is there is a 200€ price gap between the 2 phone in my country. The A52s is obviusly the cheaper one. So it's cheaper, more powerful, has a headphone jack and comes with a charger. So why should I choose the A53 again?

Why would Samsung just remove the headphone jack on their upper mid-range phones and not on their budget phones?!! This is just straight-up murder for anyone who can't afford Galaxy Buds. Just bought a A13 4g today for 178euros. It's my first smart phone so I,m in the suck it and see phase. I don't think the A13 5g is available here in France though I could be wrong.
This is unusual. Despite the 5G has faster chip, the standard price is about the same as 4G and cheaper when on discount. Possibly, reducing the cost of other components; may not have gorilla glass, build quality doesn't appear as good as 4G, the screen image quality less as shown here, 270dpi looks pretty bad for a modern phone. Even for 90hz it is a bad resolution. The 4G screen is so sharp and clear. You won't be playing games most of the time, I have the 4G and I recommend it.

I have the A13 5g phone and out the box it never said 5g on the connection display it only said LTE. So after I updated it now it says 4g in the connection display area so I'm confused. It doesn't seem slow but it's not lighting quick like it was before this forced update.

down side of a13 5g it doesn't support games that are 64 only 32 and to me at times struggles to find a good signal
Are the physical dimensions the same? Will the same case work for both, provided the lens cutout is big enough?
The dimensions are close but the height & width are different. A flexible rubber case might fit on either one but a hard shell case likely won’t

A13 4G is a much better phone, it's actually pretty good the A13 5G is just a big no.
A13 5G was horrible. Display was like something out of 2013 and the camera was horrible. Glad I returned it. Got the A53 5G instead.

@Carl Gunderson You said the reason to buy the A53 is because it's newer. But why would you or anyone buy the newer phone if the predecessor is cheaper and way more powerful? Sure the A53 will get more software updates, but that phone is already slow and laggy as hell, who cares about updates? The A52s will get a lot of updates as well, more than enough before switching phones.
@Carl Gunderson It isn't better and just watch reviews of either phone, A52s ha no issues with basic tasks or gaming, the A53 hangs a lot just while navigating the ui.. oh and you may not care how fast your phone is, but the thing is there is a 200€ price gap between the 2 phone in my country. The A52s is obviusly the cheaper one. So it's cheaper, more powerful, has a headphone jack and comes with a charger. So why should I choose the A53 again?

Why would Samsung just remove the headphone jack on their upper mid-range phones and not on their budget phones?!! This is just straight-up murder for anyone who can't afford Galaxy Buds. And I am just super against the "no-charger-in-the-box" agenda, it's not because of the Procons in Brazil is seriously suing Samsung and Apple for doing it. It's because of their stinginess, they have to put the charger in the box! Give the existing Samsung users choice if they want a charger or not if they have their own and the new users an actual charger!

Get yourself some Soundpeats True Air 2 buds from Amazon... just as good and comfortable fit (like Apple buds) and a fraction of the price.

Yeah about the price of the phone mine was $99.98 at Walmart in Goshen Indiana that's super Walmart yeah the camera is set up is kind of basic but other than that I think it's a good solid phone

This is unusual. Despite the 5G has faster chip, the standard price is about the same as 4G and cheaper when on discount. Possibly, reducing the cost of other components; may not have gorilla glass, build quality doesn't appear as good as 4G, the screen image quality less as shown here, 270dpi looks pretty bad for a modern phone. Even for 90hz it is a bad resolution. The 4G screen is so sharp and clear. You won't be playing games most of the time, I have the 4G and I recommend it.

Hi can anyone enlighten me on the charger, some of these phones seem to be 5 volt and some 9 volt, mine in the blurb says its 9 volt so presumably you cant chage it with a normal usb charger, how do you know what to buy as the charger doesnt come with the phone...F

I do believe 4G is good enough in our society.too many people yes!that's being taken care of. 4 G safer than 5 G for the environment and ourselves thank you Samsung for making the 4G still I just regret I can't change batteries anymore

I have the A13 5g phone and out the box it never said 5g on the connection display it only said LTE. So after I updated it now it says 4g in the connection display area so I'm confused. It doesn't seem slow but it's not lighting quick like it was before this forced update.

Because the 4g version was released later than the 5g version, and the 4g will only get 1 os update while 5g will get 2 os update
