@@DIYAudioGuy Yeah would be a bummer if 80 ampere would be too big of a fuse...But i was impressed with the power that little amp produced and really like your content..
For a cheap clean source it may be a good idea to use a dac/headphone amp combo. The fiio E10k and the schiit audio fulla 4 would both be great options.
Ty for this review. Exactly what I need. I basically got suckered into buying a JL 10w3 from a local shop. This does decent power into a 4 ohm load, so I should get acceptable performance out of the sub. For the price I wish I would have gotten a different sub, but I think in the end I will be satisfied.
Having two SIA3500's running the subs in my car I can tell you the only difference is the bass knobs. The sundowns have these nice metal knobs that look like little amps themselves. The only issue I have with them is they go into protect pretty easy. If input voltage is too high... protect. If you turn the gain up a bit... protect. I like to think these amps are built for more efficient bass builds. Putting them on big inefficient subs takes a little too much out of them.

@@DIYAudioGuy I have the soundstream in my Jeep build because of extremely limited space for components. I was just able to put the txp under the rear seat to drive a pair of Skar 12” shallow mounts in a 2cu/ft box. I will say the amp is powerful but dumps noise in the system. It doesn’t have anywhere near enough caps in the supply side so it causes a high-pitched feedback into the system. I’ve tried different power wires, different ground points, different signal wires run different ways. The decider was I dropped the Skar 1200 amp in and it had zero noise, which narrowed the problem down to the specific soundstream amp. Unfortunately the Skar amp doesn’t fit so the same amp is back in and I have a bunch of ground loop isolators installed that mostly get rid of the noise.
If you're interested, since I have the skar as a spare (albeit it'd be laying on the rear floor) I'd be happy to send the soundstream your way so you can test and compare it to the NVX. Be interesting to see whether or not it actually puts out anywhere near what it says it does compared to the visually identical NVX.
Crazy I bought this amp, came with 2 in and 2 rca connections…..I installed it today and when I went to do the SMD CC1 LPF will not calibrate 😢 but when I swapped it out for my deaf bonce I had no issues calibrating the LPF…..could it have been a bad amp?
Awesome video Justin 👊🏼 It’s so cool seeing little amps like that putting out big power but I’m still not sold on the Brazilian style full bridge amplifiers. They’re inexpensive watts per dollar wise but what good is it if it’s blown? They need to start making them reliable. Too many problems wit those amps in my opinion.
Full bridge has been around forever, and is very reliable. The problem with "Brazilian" style full bridge, was that they were using boards that were to thin, and it could not stay stable under loads and carry the voltage. JL Audio, Rockford, Alpine and many other companies have utilized full bridge over the years. Taramps used thinner boards in the HD lines, and it was absolutely a problem. We have about 30 full bridge samples in hand, and have been fully tested over the past year, from the same build house used by CT, Sundown and a few others. We made changes to the amplifiers, with faster switching fets, changed up the low pass filters to 40hz and some other small changes. We had one amp fail, out of the 30 or so we have tested. It failed, running at. 7 ohm in a daily build,, after 4 months. This amp he tested here in this video, is an 800.1 board. The build house, has updated the boards a bit since the SFB models, they built. Keep them at 1 ohm, keep the voltage at 11-15 volts, and there isn't much problems to have. Just from our experience. Great video btw. I am now a subscriber!!
Love these little NVX amps I've had one mounted under my seat for years you might be able to get more bump for the $ elsewhere but for the form factor and build quality NVX there is no match.
I’d love to see their pre made fibreglass boxes (vehicle specific) for build quality and actual box volume as I’m sure many will swap out the subwoofer for a more powerful sub.
I have the NVX VAD1000.1 and I love it. But I wish someone would do a dyno run on it. I can’t help but feel that it maybe lacking when wide open. But to be fair that could be many other factors.
I have one, it is cool technology. But, because it adds in extra frequencies it would not be a good choice for the amp dyno. ruclips.net/video/Fa1sQOu0erQ/видео.html
Cars don't actually operate at 12 volts. We operate in a range mostly between 13.8 and 14.4. after you take that into consideration and take the amplifier efficiency into consideration dividing by 10 to get you a lot closer than dividing by 12.
KnuKonceptz Kolossus Fleks Kable 8 Gauge can handle 60 amps up to max 20 feet. At 3 feet, from distribution block to amp, it can handle up to 100 amps.
@@theejoeylee Their chart doesn't go that low so I have no idea. The real question should be "Why not use 4ga after 100". For a 6" run especially, you're talking barely anything. If already running 4ga from the battery back to dist., I can't imagine not having 6" left over.
I only ask because I was told that you want to take the total wattage and divide it by 10 which would be 70. Seems like it's working great with a 60 amp fuse
@@jaygee6983 your calculations are correct. But fuses are rated for current draw in a given amount of time. So if you're not popping the 60 amp fuse when playing full tilt then everything should be just fine.
The reason it is called impedance rise is because that is what it is. The reason you can't call it box rise is because it happens when the driver isn't in a box.

I would not buy a skar RP amp for anything terribly in efficient at 1 ohm and will not make near this kind of power on a active load . Plus for $35 more you could get a 3k Brazilian clone or a recoil 1200.1 that's a better sounding amp with a clip light.
They put a boat on the board and take it off. Then put it back on and say “no bass boost” then take it off and say “bass boost” all for boat!!??? Yay!!!!
Yes, they might use different components, but the board layout is the same. After you use the discount code (diyaudio10) I don't think you will find a better price on this one.
