I got a set of 5 on eBay for £20 (including delivery) and just magnetised them. Took me while to figure out how to do it but I magnetised the shoulder pads so they can be placed on whatever arm I have magnetised on the body. I actually like that there isn't a need to buy additional shoulder pads like I did for my assault terminators.
Twin lightning claws are my fav updated weapon in 30K. Now they're +2 attacks for the pair, still Shred but gained Rending 6+. The Chainfist is also great, gaining Murderous Strike (does multiple wounds to Dreadnoughts and Automata), and ofc still cuts through vehicles like butter.
These are my favourite style of terminator’s! I can never decide myself which load out to go for, so I’m glad they come in packs on 10 now so I can make both!! Thank you for a great video as always :)
I built a 10 man squad (SoH) with combi-bolter and chainfists. Since I am new to 30K, Didn't know if it was good against a vehicle until I decided to do simulation runs with them against a Rhino then a Land Raider. They obliterated the vehicle in one round during the assault phase and even after I let the vehicles do their Overwatch. :) I'm glad I did this test because then I know I can build other units accordingly. Even if I only play solo anyways :)
Can you do a video on how to make 2 balanced lists using the box contents? I just got the box and wanted to play an equal points game with a friend as an intro to HH but I’m having trouble trying to split the box in a way that gives each player similar points.
Leave the Spartan out 2 tac squads a leader each and 5 terminators that's pretty balanced if you include the Spartan use it as an objective to fight over trying to recover the tank , maybe it has some vital Intel inside it etc , personally I'd just build the entire box as one force use two tactical squads as that and then upgrade the other 2 units in support squads or heavy support squads with the weapons upgrade box sets.
I tried having one army with spartan, five terminators, sword praetor and basic tac marines, which came out at about 920 points. For the other, I had two better equipped tac units, a maxed out dreadnought, and better equipped terminators, and axe praetor, coming out at 940. So I think you can use all the units.
Great video, thanks! I just assembled the Spartan and magnetized all the options...I noticed at 0:23 in this video you have a thumbnail for another video about Spartan build options. I don't see it on your channel though, just the Contemptor one. Is this a coming soon video? :)
Hey quick question for these terminators, do you have to take 2 lightning claws or can i take one and a combi bolter? Also what's your preferred loadout for them, would love to know before I build my one's!
I stopped playing Horus Heresy after the rules series and use the terminators in 40k now. I play them as Chaos Space Marines Terminators with combo-bolters and accursed weapon. Sorry that's not going to be helpful here.
@@tabletopskirmishgames Hey, that's my exact plan for these! I'm making a World Eaters army very heavy on Heresy-era designs because I find them more appealing and thematic. The only problem with Cataphractii is that they don't come with a Reaper Autocannon. Did you kitbash your own or simply don't use Autocannons?
A bit late, but yes, you can take a combi bolter and a lightning claw. It is not a great combi though since you get 2 additional attacks if you take the claws in pairs. A single claw is usually avoided, cause then the fist or the chainfist is the better option.
So to run a Sargent with the same spec as the squad for harmony it costs double the reg guy points? Do the Sargents chainfist or powerclaws have better stats because he's more important??!! Presumably no, so extra charge for bullshit reason.
I haven't been playing it since I did the how to play series. I use all the models for a 40k army in the end. Hopefully someone can answer your question here.
Great video, random question, do you think its important to play the same legion in 30k as 40k? I play Blood Angels in 40k but was hoping to try Rogals Sons for 30k
Thanks! I think it' good to mix things up and try a different legion. I'm going Dark Angels for Horus Heresy and my main army for 40k is Astra Militarum. I'll also be using the 30k Dark Angels army as the core of a Chaos narrative army for 40k. I talk about that in my recent video "Fallen to Chaos".
@@tabletopskirmishgames amazing! Thank you so much. I've just started HH with the box set. And I've been so flustered with all the choices 😆 and even how to play them..but horus and all his spikey troops are so cool!
I'm not sure about that. I think these are the first ones released in plastic, though. The most recent box set of just the Cataphractii Terminators should come with more build options too.
@@tabletopskirmishgames I know we got plastic Cataphractii back in the Betrayal at Calth boxed game, just wasn't sure if these are the same models, or something new.
The arms would be easy to magnetise, but the shoulder pads would also have to be magnetised and that would be fiddly I think. A lot of work, but with some 1mm x 2mm it's doable.
Already did it yesterday and not to bad. I put a 2x1 magnet between the two levels of the should pads and then drilled holes on the arm joint and on top of the shoulder and it worked fine. Took a bit of extra work but at least I didn't have to buy extra shoulder pads like I did with my Assault Terminators.
@@BarelyDecentProduction then in that case you could A, get them 3D printed B, get them via recaster or C, get them from a third party seller, unless GW has been dumb enought to do a full recall. The last option is they would be undergoing a reboxing, which I would suggest they would be available again soon.
The datasheet that comes with the box set only gives the option for a 5 man unit. I haven't seen the army books yet, so they might give the 10 man options. I like the smaller 5 man units anyway.
They aren't smaller at all. In fact, they're actually the third largest Terminators currently. Only the updated Primaris Terminators and the super bulky Deathguard Terminators are taller.

I bought a similar set of 5. I should do this as well.

I love these terminators but the shoulders are kinda weird to glue together. Feels like they dont fit super well. Idk. But yeah love these termies.

Thanks! Yes, the Spartan video will be up on the channel this evening.
Maybe you could do a presentation of how you manage all these leftover parts, how you store your completed models and how you transport. Thanks!
Great idea! I've got them in bags mostly but the big armies I keep in small tool boxes. Will add this to the video list, thanks!
Am still not sure what legion to paint my box set yet.
there's a quiz?
i am gonna magnatize the bodies so i can swap out the arms, i will either buy extra shoulder pads or 3d print spares
Nice one!
Hope the full list allows for the sergeant to have a power fist.
It does. All terminators actually start with power weapons by default, then power fists are an upgrade.
I already have a box of these, fantastic models. I use them as alts for Space Hulk.
Ordered more from TT.
Have you tried the 30k rules for space hulk , I haven't but I know there's fan rules for space marines combat.
