What did you think of my picks? Would you have picked differently? Let me know any top creators for your favourite legions, i always want to hear and see more cool heresy stuff. Also I somehow screwed up the order of the Legions…sorry guys. Check out Vox Link and all these creators with the links in the description though
Bonus Iron Hands and Iron Warriors over at the Death of a Rubricist blog. Edd's put filters in so you can select his articles by each army, and boy has he done some good work
Sent ya a message on IG. One of the models featured in your video was actually one I built and painted 😀 Enjoyed the video and agree with your choices. Fantastic artists!
Thanks for the shout out man 😂 didn't expect to be mentioned for my Ultramarines as I haven't really done that much, but hard to compete with Andy's Contemptor for the SoH😂 some great picks overall 🤘
Fun fact! There's actually 2 very big reasons why World Eaters would be killing eachother: The World Eaters actually had the most loyalists out of the traitor legions (most had a third remain loyal while the World Eaters had about half) and also because, during the bombing of Isstvan III (when the traitors sent down all their loyal brothers to die) Angron actually decided to go down and cull his loyal sons in melee out of a secret respect for them.
Thank you for touching back on Heresy! It’s my addiction and passion now, and it seems content has gone a bit light, but your videos have been gold (and I’ve rewatched yours several times). Thanks for the great content as always!
11:30 omg that paint job on the gun.. the way he does the green field to blue sky reflection along all the parts of the gun… it looks truly metallic. Amazing
this is awesome! I do have a nitpick though... iron warriors and space wolves are flipped, being IV and VI respectively. aside from that though these are just incredible pieces of work, thanks for showing them off!
Good video, but what did you do with the legion numbers? They get jumbled a bit. Iron warriors are 4, blood angels are 9, wolves are 6, fists are 7. Its a bit bizarre
Awesome video, Eric! I truly think the miniature hobby space is one of the friendliest and most encouraging communities on the internet! Your video case in point!
In full honesty I’ve always loved the Sons of Horus, Salamanders, and Raven guards color schemes. Something about the vibrant yet darker tones just hit differently
7:45 I think I recognize those terminators, they're made by Wilph, aka DivergingRealm. They've been kitbashed and altered by Chris. Wilph does a lot more of his own stuff but he puts these sorts of obviously 40k things on cults instead of MMF.
These are really good armies. Though a couple things to note. You got Space Wolves and Iron Warriors flipped and the Blood Angels and Imperial Fists flipped. Those custom terminators are based on the really old saturnine pattern. The World Eaters killing their own dudes is from Isstvan III, where they did that.
I'm a huge Alpha Legion fan, but I've never seen Karlan's stuff. Unless it got posted on to the Alpha Legion subreddit and I just never noticed. Definitely going to have to follow him now. Thanks a bunch, hydra dominatus.
1 place/ Night Lords, based on the war cry conversions. Looks amazing. 2/ imperial Fists, dynamic painting. 3/ iron hands, based on conversions and painterly banners Honorable mentions: *Blood Angels, dynamic shading. *Perturabo sculpt, as well. *Schou terminators *Death Guard
The Sons of Horus dreadnought looks like actual art. If you put it in front of some dark, blasted wasteland art, i'd think it was a page from the rulebook. It looks incredible.
This is my first time seeing your channel and I only got into 40k just this year - but mad respect for using your platform to lift up other people. To find that many people and spend time articulating your reasoning shows real dedication. It’s very refreshing to see someone love what they do enough to love seeing others do it well without treating them as competitors. Respect.
BRILLIANT list, i think I would have gone with Andy Wardles ultramarines, some of them won golden demons (check out his leviathan and fellblade) it's all next level
I've seen somebody use the Corpse Grinder swinging powersaw for their World Eaters Praetor, i thought that was genius and the way it fits together is so good
norrisson crusoe is too good. And it also physically hurts me to look at his perfect NMM. When I look at his paint job, I feel the tentacles of Slaanesh wrap around me. 😅😅
Honestly, World Eaters look like Star Wars Anakin Skywalker's 501st Legion of The Clone Wars Era. Super Cool especially with the face plate or guard painted red, then they look like a darker or more serious Ahsoka Legion.
I have been referencing Richard Gray's work for my Imperial Fists army. He has a video on this particular leviathan dreadnought in which he states it is intended to be a quick paintjob, which it probably is for a golden daemon winner, but for a layman such as myself this dreadnought represents the highest standards to hold my army to. I already knew I wanted to preshade my army, however, his video showed me that perhaps a zenithol prime was not the way to go for my imperial banana boys. I'll probably preshade my potassium protectors with a brown or a rust red thanks to the enlightenment I have obtained from Richard Gray.
Man that stuff is crazy cool. I totally get why you chose the dread soh as your favorite piece of all time - it doesnt look like a miniature, it looks like some official artwork. And I am not even that much of a fan of the soh legion
The blood angels look awesome and they look like the 30k version golden trims and golden partes and he didn't use the normal helmets you see with the mouth rebreather but the slim one people think the primaris brought but they always existed
Thought I was tripping when I heard you call the Iron Warriors the 6th legion and the Imperial Fists the 9th. Might want to double check the order of the legions next time. Not trying to be a dick, but I'm sure you'd also prefer to put across accurate information.
@@regularbear Then please feel free to list all 20 legions in order. Because those were the only two legions that I noticed were out of order, obviously besides the Space Wolves being listed as the 4th and the Blood Angels as the 7th.
"Near and dear to my heart, the night lords" Nights lords are VIII, Imperial fists are VII 🤣 so many people do this though, don't worry. Love my night lords!
So he says blood angels but doesn’t put lillegendsstudios (Myles)? He also doesn’t say anvilsofkonor for death guard? And omegonedge for alpha legion? Not to disparage the other artist’s work because they are beautifully painted but those three are known for those legions. Myles has a massive blood angels personal army and has loads of awesome freehand all over them, anvils of honor is a juggernaut for death guard and onmegonedge basically created the effrit for the alpha legion. Great stuff none the less though. Lovely paint jobs
Great video, but I'll say that the legion numbers are all wrong in the first half of the video. Not that it matters too much when talking about it, but if you wanna use some iconography or transfers for the correct legion numbers when painting that could be an important detail.
I was not expecting to be wowed by the Ultramarines, but that deep blue paintwork is mesmerizing. This video also reaffirmed I really need to paint Alpha Legion at some point, because the turquoise armour and scales look is just incredible and that plasma lighting is easily the best I've ever seen.

Our inquisitors have judged your choices to be satisfactory. 💀
Tortuga Bay Studio has those true scale termies.

Iron Warriors 4th legion Space wolves 6th legion. Awesome stuff though thx.
Thanks for the shout out man 😂 didn't expect to be mentioned for my Ultramarines as I haven't really done that much, but hard to compete with Andy's Contemptor for the SoH😂 some great picks overall 🤘
You did amazing
I use your Scale 75 receipe for my Sons of Horus and they look amazing. So happy.
@@staticgrass I'm very happy to hear that 🙏 thanks for giving the tutorial a go.
Where did you get those terminators?
Thanks for the shout out my man! Really enjoyed the vid 🙌 Iron Within! 😁
Iron warriors are the fourth legion just as a heads up.
And blood angels are 9, imperial fists are 7 space wolves are 6 etc
The Iron Warriors are IV Legion the "space wolves" are VI , The imperial Fists are VII and the blood angels are IX.
Thank god, I have IX painted on a bunch of my BA banners and was panicking there for a second
The vision, skill and time these artists have is inspirational. This hobby is more akin to a passion than a mere pass time.
Thank you for touching back on Heresy! It’s my addiction and passion now, and it seems content has gone a bit light, but your videos have been gold (and I’ve rewatched yours several times). Thanks for the great content as always!

Hmm, weird i have no idea how i screwed that one up . My bad
Maleficarum! (...also it does say "VI" on almost every model shown).
@Eric's Hobby Workshop Also VII should be NL, instead of BL; VIII should be IF instead of NL; and IX should be BL, instead of IF.
9 is also half of 18. Bad number day
@@Eta_Carinae__7 is IF 8 is NL and 9 is BA
Good video, but what did you do with the legion numbers? They get jumbled a bit. Iron warriors are 4, blood angels are 9, wolves are 6, fists are 7. Its a bit bizarre

Oh wow! Thank you so much for the mention. I only do this for a hobby 😅 Strange to be on a youtube video. Greatly Appreciate 😊
4th : Iron Warriors, 6th : Space Wolves, 7th : Imperial Fists, 9th : Blood Angels
Thanks for the shout out! Much appreciated

Wilph does a lot more of his own stuff but he puts these sorts of obviously 40k things on cults instead of MMF.
That is totally correct :)
Amazing video, hope to see more stuff like this everywhere around! Bravo 🎉
The conversion on Ol' Perty *chef's kiss* 😃 Posterboys, Blood Angels and Alpha Legion are also a solid pick.
I wanted to write the same.
I'm a huge Alpha Legion fan, but I've never seen Karlan's stuff. Unless it got posted on to the Alpha Legion subreddit and I just never noticed. Definitely going to have to follow him now. Thanks a bunch, hydra dominatus.
That feeling if wanting to repaint your blood angels to ape John Ho was exactly my reaction
"it's so good, it makes me feel physically ill" 😂😂😂😂 I feel that
All these are absolutely awesome......but that Perturabo custom. Wow!
"Of the 6th legion" 💀
1 place/ Night Lords, based on the war cry conversions. Looks amazing.
2/ imperial Fists, dynamic painting.
3/ iron hands, based on conversions and painterly banners
Honorable mentions:
*Blood Angels, dynamic shading.
*Perturabo sculpt, as well.
*Schou terminators
*Death Guard
Another awesome video mate. Keep them up! Loving these videos exposing me to other artists out there
I would love to see more of these kinds of videos. This was highly inspirational!
I've recently started an Iron Hands army. Gotta say - painting black ain't easy :)
The Tor Garadon conversion for the Iron Warriors is SO GREAT and ironic given the legions' rivalry with each other
This was a really fun video w lots of inspiration, thank you!!!
The Sons of Horus dreadnought looks like actual art. If you put it in front of some dark, blasted wasteland art, i'd think it was a page from the rulebook. It looks incredible.
its sublime isnt it...the more you look at it the better it gets.
Those Night Lords are sick

The jungle terrain is really giving me ideas
I'm not a 40k fan but all these minis were just a joy to look at.
Always happy to see when Eric posts a new vid
What a fun concept! Thanks for sharing so many talented creators!
BRILLIANT list, i think I would have gone with Andy Wardles ultramarines, some of them won golden demons (check out his leviathan and fellblade) it's all next level
I've seen somebody use the Corpse Grinder swinging powersaw for their World Eaters Praetor, i thought that was genius and the way it fits together is so good
This is dangerous, I don't really need a second.. I mean a third... Horus Heresy legion.
Phenomenal picks, Eric. Those artists are outstanding.
norrisson crusoe is too good. And it also physically hurts me to look at his perfect NMM. When I look at his paint job, I feel the tentacles of Slaanesh wrap around me. 😅😅
7:34 it’s most likely an istvaan 3 reference
Ngl I really like Ollie from Gaworhead’s night lords, they’re super gritty
Liam is the painter that ultimately inspired my decision to have the Salamanders be my first space marine army. Aside from TTS…
Honestly, World Eaters look like Star Wars Anakin Skywalker's 501st Legion of The Clone Wars Era. Super Cool especially with the face plate or guard painted red, then they look like a darker or more serious Ahsoka Legion.

all his videos are just amazing aren't they...a true master of his craft!!
that raven guard equiped the Windows XP skin for is gun. best nmm iv seen
I love how he says "...more trouble than it should be..." while showing Lockey
Blood Angels are the IX legion.
Yeah, i know…i have a whole blood angels army . Embarassing mistake lol but good catch
@@EricsHobbyWorkshop it’s all good man. Great video either way.
At 1:37 into the video.
"Pigeonhole."
Eric Sir, I've never heard this terminology before.
Thank you.
Love your videos. Keep up the good work.
I don't play or paint just here for the amazing art.
Thanks.
Anvils of konor has one of the best looking death guard stuff ever imo
Thanks buddy!
My XII legion are enraged!!!! But very happy for Shalaska and his marines!
Your World Eaters are truly incredible!! You deserve to be on this list 😅
@@shalaska8436no mate your marines are brilliant and your turn around time is insane - you should be really proud!
What a great video!!!
11:33 holy shit that NMM chrome is unreal, I’ve never seen such convincing chrome work like that before. Just, wow.
That Horus dreadnaught is bonkers, it looks like it's a computer render, I had trouble getting my head around it being a mini.
Another great Death Guard painter is thewhisperheads. He captures the grim dark setting perfectly and are one pf my favourite heresy armies
Great video! I wait for the next one where you suggest who to follow to paint the other races, especially the Tau :)
Richard Grey does some real nice work i was going to follow his black templars video its so simple but looks so good and his imperial fist is insane
Myles/Lillegend SoH First Company stuff is great. His Justaerin are my favourite painted heresy minis.
🔥🎸🔥
Thank you!
What an inspiring list of talent. And my favorite minature artist Richard Grey got a shout-out.
Man that stuff is crazy cool.
I totally get why you chose the dread soh as your favorite piece of all time - it doesnt look like a miniature, it looks like some official artwork.

awesome video. so many talented artist. thanks for sharing.
titan wen
Reee please stop cyber bullying me
Liam a.k.a. Rokie3rror almost got me to start a Salamanders army, but I'm a bit too broke and a slow painter for that.
Thought I was tripping when I heard you call the Iron Warriors the 6th legion and the Imperial Fists the 9th. Might want to double check the order of the legions next time. Not trying to be a dick, but I'm sure you'd also prefer to put across accurate information.

Would you ever do a video where you would paint all guard regiments?
Iron warriors n wolves switched
As well as imperial fists and blood angels mixed
Sad times but awesome paint jobs all round
Perfect vidéo mate !!! Thanks
God pre heresy thousand sons look GOOD
Looks like ultamarine terminators from tortuga
I really want to see how this guy paints the Leagues
What do you think is the best for Death Watch?
Lots of talent out there
You have totally messed legion numbers)) Anyway very good video
They're all fantastic but honestly I think Eric's white scars are better
Really nice idea ! Please don't hesitate to make some other chapter (Fleshtearer
Ah I see you’ve saved the best for last!
Christ bless you, they all look amazing sheesh
Beautiful all of them beautiful
need a 40k version of this video
Night Lords as VII Legion? What did i miss exactly Eric? Haha
you can get TRUE SCALE from Tortuga-bay
6th is Space wolves. I think iron warriors are 3rd or 4th. Id guess 4th
This was an awesome video
"Near and dear to my heart, the night lords" Nights lords are VIII, Imperial fists are VII 🤣 so many people do this though, don't worry. Love my night lords!

The Real War Masters
