    I remember reading an interview with JP Auclair saying how this whole project could have been better... there were no tricks... yada yada yada. But I think the simplicity of this and great editing is what makes this film shine. Everyone has that dream of being able to find those last bits of snow in town to get one more line and it doesn't have to be big or flashy, just a fix to get the blood pumping. Kudos to everyone who worked on this project. Your presence will be missed JP.

      Watch it again... it's a five minute segment with 3x 3's, 1x backflip, and 1x 7. There's a few rail grinds but without any cool approach or dismount, more for just avoiding the stairs. I dunno about you, but most urban segments I see is trick after trick after trick mixed in with a crash montage. It just seems like he's throwing huge sh*t up when in fact it's just flat airing and making sure to make it thru town quickly and efficiently.

    • @MarkHoltze
      @MarkHoltze 9 лет назад +17

      It's a great piece, we all know he's a sick skiier, but the way everything is put together in this video is what makes it. Simplicity, composition, editing and music with his style...it's all good.

      @jamiegoodman2091 7 лет назад +6

      I love it and remember it more than any other skiing video I've seen, I think because of the subtlety and the effective soundtrack/sharp editing cuts. Seriously come back to this year after year.

      2 min intro and a bunch of unnecessary close ups of nothing.... he was right, it could've been better. This segment was trying way too hard to be a cinematic masterpiece.

    My uncle, who I no longer talk to, showed me this video when my family was spending time at his cottage and home in Ottawa when I was around 12. My grandma danced around listening to the song, and my young impressionable mind was amazed by how well edited this video was, how clear the image was, and how the minimal tricks lined up with the music. I've grown now, and come to realize that this edit was a massive inspiration to my photography, as well as my snowboarding. Though my grandma has passed and me and my uncle no longer see each other every summer, watching this edit still brings me back to that day. Thank you JP, RIP.
