I was maybe 10 or so when I saw the Fellowship on VHS, and it quickly became my favorite movie ever. I’d never heard of Middle-Earth before then, and I remember being very intrigued by the box art of the VHS. After that, everything I wanted was LOTR. Two Towers I saw on VHS, and when Return of the King came out in theaters my parents let me see it with my great aunt, who had encouraged my interest in it and had gifted me a book of the trilogy. Then when the extended editions came out I remember watching the cast & crew commentaries for every single film, and quite unsurprisingly laughing a lot at Billy & Dom’s commentary in particular. I got a portable DVD player one Christmas and used to lay in bed at night as a little kid with it propped up on my chest watching the Making-of discs. So many incredible, funny, moving stories. I remember actually crying a lot over a particular segment in the Return of the King involving an incredibly-talented young filmmaker who I still remember to this day.
I’d play the LOTR video games that came out (that Return of the King game is one of the best licensed games ever) and I never missed an opportunity to bond with other LOTR nerds over my favorite movies of all time. To this day I believe everything holds up so well, and I’m thankful to have been alive to experience those movies as they came out. Much love to all the cast and crew involved and if you took the time to read all of this, we’ll then thank you as well :)

    Okay here's my story...
The Lord of the Rings was the first thing that my dad and I bonded over! Booming childhood with lots of books and movies because my parents had very good taste. My first memory is being 4 years old and literally wetting my pants at the sight of shelob the spider, and yes my dad took a 4 year old to a pg-13 movie because he's a boss! My dad took me and my brother to see all the movies when they came out, and they really had a great affect on my life because seeing the Shelob, and the many horrifying monsters scared me for the first time in my life. I was an unusual child with ADHD, so I then became obsessed with LOTR, especially when my dad got the extended editions where I could watch all of the magic that went into it. I actually didn't read any of the books until I was 15, because I had been listening to as many of the audiobook versions as I could find at my local library (My fav hobbit one is the 1968 BBC performance, and my fav LOTR one is read by Robert Inglis) and those performances became the voices of my childhood. To this day whenever my dad or I am feeling a bit ill, physically or mentally, we start up the LOTR extended editions to see our favorite places and ACTORS (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)
Thank you for reading about me! I can't wait to read yours!

I saw them all in theaters in their original runs when I was 10,11 and 12 years old and to this day those are my absolute favorite cinema experiences and THE best years of my life. When they were making LotR and when those movies were coming out the whole world was about that. They didn't just make a movie they released a magical spell into the air that filled the atmosphere of the entire world. SO MANY memories and feelings deeply dear to my heart whenever I think of LotR and these guys, it makes me cry every time. These people are my family💗

I couldn’t even read yet when I fell in love with lotr. I was a wee thing and my parents used to leave me with my grandma all the time and she had the Ralph Bakshi and the Rankin/Bass movies on VHS. I wore the VHS player out watching those films over and over and over. I struggled to learn how to read but I wanted so badly to read lotr that I had to borrow tutor videos from the library (we couldn’t afford an actual tutor) to help me. Now I’m working on my own novels, which will hopefully one day inspire such love in someone as everyone has for rings and Star Wars.

Well said Dom about the environment. Rather than learning what the world CAN become if we were more eco-friendly, we act like the past year didn't happen and go back to killing nature.

Yes Dom! IMO the "Before" franchise represents the best of film making centered on a man and a woman. (I honestly wouldn't mind more...it's a hard concept to bleed dry because it's dialogue, story, and observations are so compelling). I consider the ending to Before Sunset to be the best ending to a movie. Period. Ironically it's the polar opposite of the ROTK ending(s). But I've always felt the slow burn conclusion is a VERY well deserved finale. Most directors wouldn't have had the balls or talent to pull it off as well as PJ did. One of my top 10 favorite film endings as well.
Just started season 3 of outlander ya Ken!. I'll keep me eyes sharp for billy Boyd!
Edit: looking forward to the podcast!
Also, will anyone on TheOneRing make a video giving their honest thoughts on the 4K remasters???
