“That was a trick question. The Rise of Skywalker is cancer!”
That had me dying lmao
Most realistic thing about star wars ever, how does this only have 30 views
Probably because it had just posted.
Because the channel is tiny.
It’s obviously getting in the algorithm, as it’s in my recommended list, and 3,000 views in 4 days, on a channel with now 266 subs.
I can watch videos that are about how stupid the sequel trilogy is ALL DAY😂
Same✌🏻
Me too
It never gets old lmao
Funny how the third movie is called the rise of Skywalker but it's also the movie where the last Skywalker dies.
8:58 Honestly what you said here was spot on. It completely highlights the biggest issues of Episodes 8 and 9.
Luke was destined to rebuild the Jedi Order. The good guys. Because of Episode 8, he failed that...
Anakin was destined to destroy the Sith. The bad guys. Because of Episode 9, he failed that...
Instead, Rey steals both of their roles. She destroyed the Sith AND is rebuilding the Jedi. The Sequels are an insult to the previous 6 films.
Again the "STEALS" bullsh, typical fuming stan take roflol
"Anakin was destined to destroy the Sith." That was a murky contradictory retcon to begin with.
@@WreckageBrother-rd5zf and in what way was it a retcon??
@@leylanagiyeva9061 Double retcon, one could say:
1) Just the mere notion of Vader having ever been some kinda messianic figure at all - nothing in the original movies ever implied such a thing;
if anyone was ever portrayed as some kind of extraordinary superhuman figure it'd be the Emperor.
Visions of the future and talks of "destiny" were in motion, preventable and unreliable, and didn't amount to definite "prophecies" either - let alone any on a messianic scale.
2) In Phantom Menace they're talking about this prophecy *before* they learn the Sith weren't gone - so whatever "imbalance" they thought would be neat to fix, wasn't referring to the Sith, and the fix wasn't destroying the Sith.
However then it became that in the 3rd movie.
@@WreckageBrother-rd5zf If somebody else was called the chosen one in OT and then prequels came out and said no it was actually Anakin the whole time, then that would have been a retcon.Chosen one prophecy didn't retcon anything it only added more to Anakin's character. All the things you said about "destiny" and "prophecies" are your own personal understandings and thoughts about star wars, it doesn't mean that the prophecies cannot exist in star wars, only because you personally don't like it.
And why it even matters if the sith weren't around when they found the chosen one?The jedi just came across a miraculous child born with no father with the highest force potential in history that fits all the criterias of ancient prophecy that the jedi have.. Should he just said "Oh well there is no sith around anyway,i guess i'll pass on this one"?? Not to mention the sith comes back the day they found Anakin.
And even without the prophecy that's what jedi usually do when they find force sensitive children, take them to the jedi council,Anakin wasn't found earlier only because he was in outer rim planet, out of the council's radar.
"But even taking the movies on their own, ignoring their connection to what came before" the worst thing is, this is exactly what JJ Abrams wanted to do from the start
Loved the video and you made fantastic points. There are tons of issues with 7=9, but I think one of the biggest issues is having the previous heroes in this story. It should've just been the story of Rey, Finn, Poe, and Kylo. Make it so Han, Leia, Luke, and Vader are long in the past and fables. One of the reasons I liked TLJ was the fact that it felt like Disney was making Star Wars their own and giving us a new story with new characters. Throwing in the old heroes felt messy and crowded. I'm kind of glad Luke force projected himself, because I didn't want to see old-man CGI Luke flipping everywhere. There's a lot more I can go on, but just my contribution to the discussion.
Having a film take place, say 100 years after Episode 6 would make it a lot easier to satisfy people, but at the same time, everyone wanted Han, Luke, and Leia to return for one more adventure. Too bad we never got them together again on screen in one scene.
I agree with you both. We could see our old heroes together, leading the New Republic. Not too much, but not too little. But for most of it, the new heroes take the spotlight, going on their own adventure.
Disneyfilm could have, but then Force Awakens wouldn't have made almost a billion dollars domestically, which is still the highest (uninflated) total ever. And because of that (and SM No Way Home and Super Mario and Top Gun 2), we are no longer in the Blockbuster Age. Begun, the Nostalgia Age has.
I hate so much Disney made luke a failure because of a bad vision. I like most of the Disney Star Wars shows but besides force awakens, they destroyed the franchise
The spin off movies happened to be better then the actual trilogy
The Force Awakens still had Luke Skywalker's Jedi Academy destroyed plus the destruction of The New Republic so while The Force Awakens is entertaining it still completely fails as a proper continuation.
luke should have just been luke if you made that one change this whole franchise would be in such a better place, basically everything thats wrong in tlj and tros leads back to them not including luke in the force awakens when you think about it.
Both of these Movies are so stupid that I walked out of the Theater on both of them
Last Jedi feels like it was made by a guy who's never actually seen Star Wars.
Rise Of Skywalker feels like it was made by a guy who watched all the movies once a decade ago, and also really hates The Last Jedi
I’d argue Luke is equal to Anakin in terms of importance but yes basically the whole retroactively renders the saga pointless
The sequels suck
Coldest take I’ve ever heard
Ha ha, you thought these were canon!
Nice video man. I remember seeing the entirety of the sequel trilogy in the theatres but I liked them. I don’t know though. I see their flaws. Rise of Skywalker was the worst conclusion I have ever seen
I personally think it is Disney's goal to destroy every male hero from our childhood. From MCU to Star Wars to Toy Story. It's a disgrace that the company that help shape our childhood is now bent on erasing and replacing it.
You know what made me realise rotten tomatoes is an awful rating provider, they have these two 90+ percent critic scores and yet gave the return of the jedi 87 ish.
I think rotten tomatoes comes in the perspective of casuals. It's why the Prequels are ranked soo low; they aren't good films to them.
To casual people, the Sequels are amazing and look spectacular. To a lot of Star Wars fans, they're an insult.
I stopped trusting Rotten Tomatoes since they ranked high Josh Wheedon's Justice League, The Last Jedi and Captain Marvel.
I will say Rey's heritage in TLJ is actually genius. It's expected that she's Luke's daughter, Obi-Wan's daughter (yes some thought that), maybe even Sidious' daughter/granddaughter. Having her be a nothing is way more surprising and more similar to Vader being Luke's father as both were totally out of the audience's perception. Rey being a nobody without purpose, the black sheep in this grand family opera allows her to choose her own path and in the end uphold the Skywalker name (figuratively) better than their own flesh and blood (Ben). Rise of Skywalker's biggest mistake aside from Palatine's return is making her important to lineages of Star Wars as if every hero has to be the child of another established hero. That's not what makes them, it's the choices we and they make.
Also, a line in TLJ does make sense why Kylo lost. Snoke drills him about how he couldn't win against a girl who never held a lightsaber because of his imbalance (something previously introduced in Episode 7). This furthers his story deeper into the dark side and builds him up more as a villain. Is it great? No. But Star Wars is all about how the force is greater than any training and that it is what actually wins a battle.
TROS most definitely. Idk maybe it’s cuz I appreciate TLJ and TROS gets rid of literally everything that TLJ tried to set up.
Both 8 and 9 are better than The Force Awakens.
The Disney movies are literally fan fiction level, I sleep pecefully at night disregarding them correctly
Good that George himself comformed that 7-9 werent canon
That was obvious the moment Episode 7 didn't match what he said was supposed to happen.
There is only one Maker, and it ain't of the Kennedy, it is of the Lucas.
“There is no episode 7”-George Lucas
Last Jedi is without a doubt the worst movie ive ever seen in my life
The Last Jedi: Character and Plot choices are controversial and not what fans would have preferred.
Rise of Skywalker: Actively retcons and destroys the previous movies in service for itself.
Rise of Skywalker is worse than Attack of the Clones. So its the worst Star Wars ever. People hate on Phantom Menace and its not deserved in my opinion even if Jar Jar's slapstick is a bit over done, and taxation and trade routes for a kids movie is so boring.
George Lucas completely fucked up the ENTIRE Catalog that is Star Wars
Nah, that was JJ, Rian Johnston, and the biggest villain of the sequel trilogy Kathleen Kennedy
If TROS is cancer, than TLJ is the thing that caused the cancer. There's literally no place to go after that film. After I walked out of the theater, I wondered: "They do know that this was supposed to be the middle entry of a trilogy, right?" Because TLJ feels so out of bounds in relation to TFA. And it also doesn't set anything up for the third film. What, is Rey gonna defeat Kylo and the First Order AGAIN? Yay....
There were some interesting ideas in the original script for Episode IX "Duel of the Fates", which I would have much rather seen than Rise of Skywalker.
Bud light Disney star wars is a insuit to the fans intelligence.
Rise of skywalker copes the knights of the fallen empire from cannon
My rating on The Last Jedi:
1. in itself: weak, convoluded, nonsense, jumpy, overbearing, directionless mess of faulty intentions: 3/10
2. read together with all the other films: it's the black plauge of the franchise, the evil comet that killed the dinosaurs: 0/10
They made the prequels and original trilogy pointless
Hot take: If the colossal sin of bringing the Emperor back from the dead wasn’t committed, ROS wouldn’t have been nearly as bad. It’d still have flaws, but it wouldn’t be considered the worst one. As much as I dislike ROS, I can’t help but feel sorry for the people who worked on it. Rian Johnson and co REALLY screwed things up when working on TLJ. ROS was doomed from the start. It had ZERO chance of being good, they had had an extremely short time to fix everything, and it’s because TLJ fucked so much shit up. I think for that, TLJ is the worst one, but that’s just my opinion.
Honestly I think the original Episode IX “Duel of the Fates” would have been better than Rise of Skywalker. It wouldn’t have brought Palpatine back (although Kylo would find a holocron message left by Palpatine) and it would have had Rey and Kylo duel on Mortis where Rey would have discovered what balance in the Force actually means.
It isn’t a perfect script but it would have been better than Rise of Skywalker and most importantly it wouldn’t have ruined Anakin’s legacy as the chosen one, as Palpatine and the Sith would not have returned.
@@jezkerjamez7110 I absolutely agree
I was cackling with the guy in the background losing his mind when Rey Palatine self-identified as a Skywalker😂
You can't really blame RoSW because Last Jedi set it up to fail from the get go. Last Jedi is the worst one
REY PALPATINE BRUUUUUUUUUUUH
Based Final Fantasy 12 music. In the first five seconds too
Rey should have been his daughter!!!
I don’t the sequels canon and I refer to them as the “Palpatine Saga”
REY!!!!!!!!
He should never have died! Luke Skywalker.😢
Great video bro
Your essentially what's worse the coffin or the nail in the coffin
Definitely rise of skywalker was far worse, if you can stand the cinema of “somehow palpatine returned” your definitely have a strong defence
TLJ was great. TROS was incredibly terrible. TFA was fine. Fight me.
The last Jedi was complete shit. The whole sequels was terrible, horrible, and forgettable.
@@meh.com.au1 nah TLJ was good yall are just blinded by shitty fan fictions and nostalgia
No I won't fight you, you like it, well , great
Great vid man
Both of these movies should have EPIC
the Rise of Skywalker is a monumental mess, but for me with the last Jedi, Lucas film really s*h*I*t* the bed, people can defend this movie as much as the can, but they can deny the last Jedi was the icing in the cake and divided the fandom like no one ever imagined.
Last Jedi will never be defeated as "The Worst."
So true
After seeing Rise of Skywalker i rewatched The last Jedi and though:
"I may have gone to far in a few places"
-(George Lucas)
the fact the actors let all this Disney shit happen is more depressing than Disney took over
Mark hamil tried to correct Disney but that was useless as he said in a interview.
Its not the actors' fault, they aren't in charge. What are they gonna do?
Actors can’t do shit. It isn’t their responsibility to curate and review the writing and especially the canon of a specific universe according to their own judgement…
People really need to stop with the hyperbolic moralization over what happened and talk it over realistically or get over it.
What makes you think this is an actor's job to do?
The actors had no power over the script, I feel bad for them than anything else.
The last Jedi fell so the Rise Of Skywalker could die
Bud light Disney star wars luke sky walker the down and out years.
I think Rise of Skywalker is the worse movie, but I still hate The Last Jedi more, the same way I know the OT is better, but I prefer the prequels. I felt so insulted by everything The Last Jedi tried to do, and in the off chance that I actually rewatch the sequels someday (I've only seen each of them once), I will definitely be skipping TLJ for the sake of my own well being.
Noice
So funny 🤣
I 100% agree! Episode 8 ruined Luke, but Episode 9 ruined absolutely everything that made 1-6 special!
nah bro 8 is way worse than 9
I compare this a little bit to the Alien series
Everything up to episode 8 would of been Alien and Aliens 2
But The Last Jedi like Aliens 3, they kill of or ruin characters (Luke, Snoke, Ackbar,) and don't even pay attention to others (Knights Of Ren) from the previous movies.
Plus we still don't have any backstory yet on who these characters (Rey, Snoke) are or how Luke became a bum or how Ren became so upset.
Yes that was bad enough to ruin my favorite characters while not even explaining who these new ones are or how they fit in.
THEN COMES Aliens 4 - oh I mean Episode 9
Aliens 4 basically destroyed the whole series by mixing alien dna with human dna and now we got all these half breeds running around and the series just became a total mess.
Like Aliens 4 Star Wars now turns the whole story into a big bag pile of %@*!, they bring Palpatine back (with no backstory again to say how he got here).
Then they stole content from some 5 year old's playing in the background of their set.
The boy playing as Palpatine says - I have all the dead Sith in by body.
The girl then says - Well I have all the Jedi in my body then.
Now we have Rey running around with a bunch of dead Jedi inside her.
We got so many ghosts running around that unless you bring the ghostbusters in, there is no hope.
And If Palpatine is just a clone what's to stop just making more of him.
How do you even move on from this mess.
And they want to do another Rey movie.
We don't even know her origin story yet along with Ren and his Knights.
It seems they want to skip over the story.
Why, because there is no story.
All Star Wars is now is a couple kids playing at a table making up stuff as they go and none of it makes sense.
You either need to put some story around these movies or you need to toss them in the trash because you can't move on from here as it is.
Were stuck doing back stories if you don't fix this.
And after you make a mess of the back stories no one will want to watch any of this anymore.
Luke throwing away that light Saber away killed the movie!
One of my life goals is to write a set of prequels/sequels to the original Star Wars worth of the name. The difficult part will be making something just as great as the original Star Wars. The easy part will be doing better than Disney.
I don't think anyone could make anything as great as the originals. It's just about making something worthy to stand with them.
At least Rise of Skywalker feels more watchable where as Last Jedi is a middle finger to its audience and a complete waste of time.
The only connection The Disney Trash Trilogy has to Star Wars is that it plagiarizes it. The Farce Awakens IS NOT alright, unless you happen to be an extremely casual Star Wars fan, that is the only way i can accept anyone saying that travesty is any good, because there is no way any honest SW lore follower would say that. In terms of Last Insult vs Rise of JJ, Last Insult as a film is indeed trash BUT it is far more original than both Farce Awakens and Rise of JJ. Original but still trash.
No, actually, I think the Force Awakens is the worst Star Wars movie because it was the one that started the franchise on this soft reboot relay race George Lucas negating garbage.
I mean, I agree the sequels are terrible, but your video didn't come to any conclusion for the question at hand, namely, which of the films is worse.
Of course it did. I said Rise of Skywalker was worse because it disregarded the entire Anakin is the chosen one plot which is central to the first six films.
@@jezkerjamez7110 I guess I missed that part. My bad.
i find the last jedi to be a worse movie not only because of its snooze inducing pacing but because of how royally it destroyed all the setup and excitement the force awakens brought about. i just didn't care anymore watching the rise of skywalker but i had a fun time watching it. it's a so bad it's good film imo
Fully agree. For example, the sound design in palpatines lair was so atmospheric, and the "...abilities some considered to be unnatural" line, was chilling. If you turned your brain off, you could enjoy it. That was not possible with The Last Jedi.
@@SlurpKing100 Last Jedi kinda drew attention to its nonsense by having characters discuss it all for minutes arguing over who had the right views; 9 was the kind of "turn brain off" that the originals were, so that's cool.
Mostly regained the quality of TFA, though with some hiccups and seams visible.
The Last Jedi was just shit but Rise of Skywalker was shit at the end. Also, no matter how bad the Disney trilogy was, the CGI never missed.
The Sequel trilogy is what happens when you hire two directors who want to tell two completely different stories
Shame on Mark hamill for appearing in the dire nonsense.
Last jedi f-ed up so much that the 2 hours for rise of skywalker weren't enough to put the lose ends back together.
The Last Jedi is a fantastic blockbuster that is completely mis-evaluated by many SW fans.
But I do agree that Rise Of Skywalker is mid.
I lost faith after TFA and TLJ, and I didn't watch TroS. So I may be wrong here, but your video made me think: Is Rey being Palpatine's granddaughter a way of explaining how she has such strong force powers? It would still be a terribly awful explanation, but otherwise, this twist has no punch or reason in the story.
She's his granddaughter, but has no reservations about killing him, despite he's her only connection to her parents. Which her longing for them was made pretty important in the trilogy. Never more info there. And he willingly wants to kill her/take her power despite she's his granddaughter, and evidently more powerful than he is. Sure, that means she's a threat to his power, but so is every trainee for the Sith, as evidenced by the movies. This could have actually given credence to the Rey Sith scene BS, and a conflict for both characters.
The Sequel Trilogy actually had some interesting ideas, should they had been executed correctly. Great potential that lead to massive failures on multiple levels.
The Rey Palpatine thing was a half hazard attempt to explain how she was so powerful despite having zero training in the previous two films. I can see why she wanted Palpatine dead though, as he did order the murder of her parents. Palpatine I think mainly wanted to transfer into a new body because his cloned one was decaying. In legends material it is explained that cloning force sensitives always causes defects with the clones. Darth Plagueis explained it was like the force was pushing back against attempts to interfere with its chosen, the chosen being force sensitives. So the idea I think they were going for is that Palpatine could never clone a perfect body for himself, so he needed to transfer into a naturally born force sensitive. I think the implication is that he would have chosen either Kylo or Rey and that one was the back up for the other if one failed. There is also the implication for the transfer to work correctly, the vessel had to be steeped in the dark side, which is why he wanted Kylo to either kill Rey to snuff out his light or for Rey to strike Palpatine down in revenge.
Force transfer, the ability to transfer your soul into the body of another, does exist in legends material, but it is extremely risky. If you fail to posses the person you are trying to transfer into, your soul will be cast into a realm known as chaos, which essentially is the Star Wars version of Hell.
Still though, a lot of this stuff is me trying to fill in the gaps Disney left unexplained in the movie, with information from the novels, and over all it's a big mess.
last Jedi atleast surprises me. I can get some entertainment from it because it's not straightforward and in no way boring. Rise of Skywalker is the most cookie cutter, unsurprising, boring and yet frustrating movie I can imagine
Just because something is surprising doesn’t make it good. A stab in the back is surprising.
@@jezkerjamez7110 but it makes media entertaining. If I watch a movie and know what will happen in it by minute 5 (I mean with Rise of Skywalker it was clear with the first trailer), then I can't be entertained
@@juannaym8488 If the surprise isn’t good then how can it be entertaining? When it was revealed that Rey was no one, it suddenly made her beating Kylo Ren in Force Awakens make zero sense. Snoke was built up as this big bad and he dies before we know anything about him. I can’t be entertained when all the surprises just frustrate me. And don’t even get me started on Luke.
100% Agree. Sad on what could have been!
this man has 252 subs and is already e-begging
Should be ep2 vs ep 9
Episode 2 has a lot of issues, especially the "romance" scenes. However, it gets a pass thanks to Christopher Lee as Dooku.
@@jezkerjamez7110 true
At least Episode 2 has important scenes that set Clones Wars and Bad Batch.
@@jacksonconley5117 nothing that couldn't have been set up within the clone wars
Personally both are awful but I find The Last Jedi more insulting personally. TROS was pushed into a corner to be as awful as it was because of TLJ and is at least somewhat entertaining with how batshit crazy its pacing and how awful it is, where TLJ is just awful with only really eyecandy going for it
I agree! 💯%
Both films of the sequel trilogy are god awful, but if I had to pick one or the other one which is worse and ruined the Skywalker saga, than I gotta say that Rise of Skywalker is the last nail in the coffin.
The Force Awakens is actually a good movie. The sequels that came afterwards were where everything sucked.
TROS is definitely dogshit but there are like 5 skywalker saga films worse than TLJ lol
What are the others?
Such as?
@@Daron7181
Maybe Episodes 1, 2, 3, 6, and 7.
I don't mean to offend you, Dak.
Whoever made these movies should be banned forever from movies!! Period!
I don’t like both movies, but I'd say The Last Jedi was the better of the two for the following reasons:
1. It at least thematically works. Even if it hurt Luke's heroic journey in the OT and took plot elements from TESB and ROTJ, the theme of failure is shown and well-represented as a movie on its own. The Rise of Skywalker's theme was to not be afraid of who you are, but Rey decides to take up the Skywalker name at the end anyways. So if they undid the theme of the movie, then what the eff was the point of having it in the movie in the first place?
2. The Last Jedi also doesn't damage past movies and the lore in the degree as Rise of Skywalker did. Luke's characterization in LTJ undermines his heroic journey, but brining Palpatine back hurt the past movies even more because it unravels Anakin's fall and redemption arc since it's revealed he never really killed Palpatine. It also gives the role of the chosen one to Rey. even though the prohercy clearly states it's Anakin and nothing in it applies to Rey. The Force heal single handled destroyed Anakin’s tragic arc in the prequels because he didn’t know how to heal.
3. The Last Jedi has a better vibe to it. I like the dried out, washed war look. Rian Johnson knows how to make better shots than Abrams. The Rise of Skywalker has a dull, wet look to it.
4. It’s more imaginative. Rise of Skywalker’s tried to combine Return of the Jedi, Avengers Endgame, Return of the King, and other endings to other franchises with the sequel trilogy and it ends up as unfulfilling and lore-breaking, where The Last Jedi had original ideas, even though it reused plot thread from Episodes 5 and 6.
I can actually get behind this. The Last Jedi is actually a very beautifully film in terms of visuals. The stand off between Luke and Kylo near the end is visually stunning. And like you said, it didn't break the lore. The problem was it just tried to hard to subvert expectations. Instead of giving us what we wanted with certain characters, it did the exact opposite in an attempt to be "bold and different" which does not always equal "good" lol. The best character in the film is Kylo Ren, as even though Snoke was disappointing, Kylo becoming Supreme Leader was interesting. He finally could rule the galaxy in a way Vader never did and thus surpassed him.
It's kind of why I wished they had gone with the plans for the original Episode IX "Duel of the Fates" where Kylo was the big bad instead of Palpatine.
@@jezkerjamez7110 I agree. Kylo was such a Vader wannabe in Episode 7. But even though I didn’t like the choice to kill off Snoke, his character went in a more interesting direction in Episode 8. I liked that he wanted to be more and wanted to let the past die. But then Episode 9 had to take him back to living up to Vader again and getting redemption. It didn’t feel satisfying to end him off the same way Anakin did because it then just feels the character was made just to be the villain of the trilogy that wanted to be as good as Vader and failed because they played right into it.
@@eightnickel1513 If they were going to redeem Kylo, they should have let him live. Make it different from Vader. Through death Anakin found redemption, but let Ben find it through living and trying to correct his mistakes by building a new Jedi Order with Rey.
Either that or they should have just gone full fledged villain with him. Now you can make him a sympathetic villain, one where you can see his point of view without agreeing with his methods of course. But make him a villain none the less. Which is what Duel of the Fates was going to do with him.
You could see where he got the idea of letting the past die. The Jedi, the Sith, the Republic, the Empire, it all failed. So Kylo would want to start everything a new. Burn it all down and start again. It's not a bad motivation for him, but they dropped the ball and made him Vader lite.
@@jezkerjamez7110 I know. If I went with redeeming him, I’d have a scene where Anakin came to talk to him instead of Han, telling him how the dark side ruined his life and almost destroyed himself. Since Ben was following in the same path, it would’ve worked so well since he looked up to Vader, but never saw things from his point of view and for Anakin, he would’ve stopped his grandson from walking down the same road he did.
@@eightnickel1513 Agreed. Anakin should have played way more of a role in the sequels. I have ideas for a rewrite of the sequels I plan to do someday. I have an idea where I take Disney's concepts and rework them into a better story. And then I have ideas for my own original story for the sequels.
I need to stop watching these videos, all they do is reintroduce my hatred for the sequels.
Attack of the clones:
I vote Last Jedi because after that debacle destroyed all of the plot points from the first sequel, there wasn't much left for the next one to work with.
Force awakens
Luke should have been so powerful!
