      @mz6958 hi sorry do you by any chance know if you can make a closed edge cast on this way or with any kind of rag and ravel? When I take the ravel out its just loops that unravel and need to be knitted..am I doing something wrong. The lady who made the video isn't able to understand what I am saying.

      @@Padraigp Hey, yes you can!
      - Hang the edge of your cast-on rag
      - Knit 1 row of ravel cord
      - Hang weight
      - Cast on (closed cast on)
      - Remove the rag

    I am trying to figure out why you put the metal rings. What were their purpose?

    • @MadonnaDesigns
      @MadonnaDesigns  9 месяцев назад +3

      They are easier for me to place on the needles than the knitted loops. It takes me less time. Hope this answer helps.

      It saves you having to wrap a string around each needle which I have a fine guage machine and it's the hardest part. If you use rings you can just slip them off when you're finished too which means you'll be easily able to cast it off. It is a pain that it will be an open cast though. I like the closed cast but it is so bloody hard to do.

    Is there any way to do a closed cast on with rags or does it akways end up as open? Thanks.

      @@Padraigp use waste yarn after the rag. Then wrap the working yarn.

    • @Padraigp

      @MadonnaDesigns you mean wrap the e wrap after the waste yarn? Would that put two yarns on the needles for the first row? How will I seperate the waste yarn should I also do a row of the string? Sorry I am only a beginner. I've watched lots of videos but they don't explain how I can make it a close cast on with the rag or the waste yarn so I have ended up with the waste yarn stuck to the bottom of my peices like a trim. I did wrap the waste yarn in e wrap because its easy with the waste yarn but the fine guage machine I have the yarn for making the jumper I want to make is very thin and fiddly to get it wrapped around the hooks and when I try to cast on without a scrap yarn it just misses stitches. I also cannot find a fine guage cast on comb anywhere to keep the first row of stitches down even if I do get them wrapped ... so my first vest has got the waste yarn still on the bottom hem lol!
