    Always those old sounds.We are in a new era Kurzweil .Keep it as an expansion option, and make total new sounds for the K2700!

      I’m glad I’m not the only one feeling that way. The K2700 looks great, but the sounds are very underwhelming. He plays 5 pianos and we can hear they pretty much use the same samples and tones. It’s just some tweaks for the effects, or some Attack here and there, but the samples sound the same. It really sounds like mid-2000s and 2010s keyboards (Motif XF, Fantom XR, Korg Oasys/Kronos, etc…). In comparions to what we can get today in plugins or sample libraries such Kontakt and such, it’s just night and day. I’ve been hoping for a keyboard that could sounds more realistic like today’s plugins/sample libraries does, but all we get is new keyboards with old sounds… pathetic.

      More bang for the buck than nord to or any of those u mentioned there all overrated. If hadn't been for Kurz none of'em would be anyway. The original K2k kicked the door in as far as that goes and still nothing compares to V.A.S.T. ...no plugin or VST that trumps it even today it should be in it's own category: where there's plug-in's, VST's & V.A.S.T. or all of the above processed by/with the best system on the planet IMHO folks

      @@Spidouz There are people today who buy cheap used k2600s because the VAST website can emulate the sounds of fatter and denser analogue synthesizers, surpassing current VSTs and many VA systemizer keyboards. There are people who have both models k2600 and k2700 and they say that the k2600 still sounds better than the new model, what's different about the new model and the more sampled piano and other instruments, in fact the 2600 was in 1999 considered the Ferrari of synthesizers digital..

    I have pretty good ears-2 of them. I don;t hear much difference in all these pianos-subtle differences yes-but not as pronounced as some acoustics I've played over the years-excellent pianos here, but not as much variety in sonic differences as the large numbers would suggest. Riders on the Storm, Born on the Bayou, nice Chuck!

  • @jfcleanup
    @jfcleanup 2 года назад +7

    Meh..my first synths were not Kurzweil's cause I could not afford them back then. After some Roland stuff I finally got the Kurzweil K2000 racks as an addition and later on the K2600x . Had a short time with Pc361 later on when Kurzweil was revived from the dead. But since then all seems to have been stagnated. As with many other hardware brands by the way. The are still relying heavily on the same old sound sets from the 80's and 90's and you can hear that very well. Nice if your in a 90's cover band, but otherwise they sound too thin, short and dated. FM is a nice addition though , although FM in itself is very old as well (DX7 etc). Roland with Fantom and Roland Cloud ? Recycling old stuff. Korg with Nautilus - recycling old stuff. Yamaha - nothing new there either. Dexibell has some nice sounds , by hey 1.5 GB of flash - it's 2021 ! Had an S9 , but ditched for that reason - could not hold enough sounds. TO me hardware synths have - in terms of basic sound libraries they harvest from - standing still since 2000 or so , meaning 15 too 20 years ? All bells and whistles aside , like big screens, Audio I/O, more RAM , more controllers and pads. The basic sounds are still the same lame old stuff. Hope any to the big manufacturers finally will update their entire library to something new and up-to-date and ditch the legacy stuff. But false hopes me guess...still like hardware over software in terms of playability, but come-on , that recycling is terrible.

      It's sad because the best part of hardware synths/samplers is that they load instantly and don't require any logins or authentication to use.

    One thing I noticed is that the K doesn't doesn't appear to have seamless patch changes. Or is this something that needs to be enabled in the configuration options?

    • @PianoManChuck
      @PianoManChuck  2 года назад

      Almost all brands claiming "seamless patch changes" don't seem to apply to the piano engine. But then, when would one ever change a piano patch during a performance?

    • @towjam2359
      @towjam2359 2 года назад +1

      @@PianoManChuck For example, playing a chord on the piano, holding the sustain with the pedal while at the same time, switching to a string pad. You would want the piano chord to hold during the change. Dexibell support this for example.

    • @Benqo
      @Benqo 2 года назад +4

      @@towjam2359 The seamless switching is possible when using less than 14fx units (btw you can use up to 32 fx units in total). Some of the factory programs use huge combination of effects. For example pianos have string resonance, equalizer, enhancer, phaser, delay, reverb etc. So it is practical to reduce the unnecessary effects to help the seamless switching.
