Having just finished playing the Ultimate Edition with both DLCs, I would love to see a final ranking of all of the bosses.

All the bosses for the most part is easy. It's the horde of henchmen that come at you while battling the boss.
I know we're not talking about DLC bosses but those enemies that throw those pick axes at you are an absolute pain and they appear elsewhere in the game too after your first encounter with them so they are not just resigned to the foundation
I think the Hartman was the most annoying side boss because you had to deal with him multiples times and in the dark while other enemies are attacking you as well. The only way to hurt him is with light.
Not gonna lie, my first playthrough was a learning curve with so many deaths. My second playthrough was a breeze. All the bosses were pretty much easy. Just used grip, launch and evade. That's all you pretty much need providing you upgrade launch and health really early on and get good personal and weapon mods.
I pretty abuse the shield skill there. Like with Dr.Hartman, I stay on high place, put shield on when he spam projectile, then spam grid to his face until done.
Launch is the best thing ever I felt like magneto
Former made me so mad the first time i fought it. I didnt realize it poked holes in the floor and the first 2 times i fell through i thought it was a glitch in the gm or that i just walked off the platform haha

As soon as you unlock the ability to throw up to three objects, the bosses completely cease to be a threat, except of course Tomassi

I would’ve said Mold-1 was the hardest and most infuriating boss in the game. Had to do it about 13 times XD
Yeah, like I said in the video if I fought it sooner it def would of been higher on the list. The optional boss's difficulty is really dependent on when you fight them it seems.
Defintely depends when you fight the bosses. I went back post game and basically once shotted Mold-1 so I think of it as the easiest boss

No one's gonna mention the boss fight in AWE DLC? I mean.. it could regenerate and had many phases.. so technically it's the hardest among em..
Did you play the Foundation and Altered World Events (AWE)? I don't see Dr. Hartman included..
The red clocks do big damage. That's the strategy.

@@strugu27 yeah the boss itself is easy but the flying enemies were nasty as hell. I had difficulties to give the boss the final hit several times...
Have you beat Hartman in the AWE DLC? That boss was such a pain and I would put it in my number 1 hardest bosses in Control.
Unfortunately I haven't had time to play any of the DLC yet, other games I want to play keep coming out and working full time doesnt allow me as much time to game as I'd like lol. I have both of them on my PlayStation and definitely want to get to them at some point though, I loved Control so more of it is 100% something I'm down for.
Btw, hes actually one of the easiest if you figure out the catch. Multiple launch interrupts his darkness and you just slaughter hill without taking any damage.

Anchor is definitely hardest, as you have exactly two tries before that thing melts your gpu

I was stuck with the anchor, Yeah, took me 10 tries, I kept dying when those flying enemies exploded, other bosses where easier for me
Did you fight it early in game? Anchor is optional iirc so that could of made an impact too. It's all good though, different people have trouble with different things. I've talked to a lot of people who annihilated Former (1) on their first try and that was easily one of the harder fights in the game for me.
Level up your launch and add the launch mods!
You can use Pierce to hit the core no matter the direction it's facing and when it's facing you anything you launch at it will stop the clock shower attack.
my problem with the anchor was a different one my game kept crashing on that boss idk why
@@DoobieStreams the anchor was hard for me too. I died about 40 times. I had just gotten the levitating ability so all my attributes were pretty weak.

Using Pierce makes certain bosses likes Salvador easier. Heck Pierce is the only gun mode I'd recommend, as you can stick on mods that increase damage whilst aiming, and overall damage, and bam, deadly weapon.
Edit: Pierce is also how i beat Tomassi (2nd form). Get up in the rafters on the left and right. Makes fight more manageable overall.
I agree pierce decimates tomassi's hp and shields. Once I took the high ground the real threat was the distorted.
@@RPGeenius After doing all Ahti missions Pierce is just a cheat weapon imo. I oneshot rangers with red shields even if they have white stamina bar. That shit is insane. I could 2 shot lvl 15 guys in Foundation with it.
Best thing is Control was when Jesse and esseJ fought - we murdered each other at the exact same time because I did melee attack on her from the ground when she tried to do a slam dunk on me from above AND she connected and whiped me out BUT my melee attack also connected and whiped her out. Then both of us just fell at the same time and lied next to one another.
Then I respawned and the game said I defeated her 😂
The same thing happend to me with The Mold🤷😁. I threw a rock and his projectiles killed me. He was dead too 🤣

the anchor was an easy boss fight but it scared the shit out of me, because it seemed so menacing. So I levitated a lot from platform to platform when I could have just stayed in one place
EDIT: If you spend more time grinding and doing side missions, you'll have a much easier time with main bosses. I constantly got sidetracked by the atmosphere and reading documents, lol.
Also get all the dlc, it's a lowkey and an unintentional "pay to win" because the extra mods you get are soooo OP you might as well play on God mode.
Yeah, the level and size of the boss makes it seem a lot more intimidating than it is. That's why I said I was expecting it to transform after I finished off its health bar because im like "no way that's it" lol
@@DoobieStreams I flew towards it and it oneshot me with a single melee attack.
Speaking of packing the biggest punch, if you levitate up to Toumassi, hit him with a couple melees to absolutely melt his armor without wasting your energy. That way you have a better chance of hitting him with more launches.

Mold-1 was the easiest in my opinion. I killed it in under 1 minute. Just use pierce and shield
Same for me. With launch maxed and the ability to throw three objects at once my first throw took 90% of hp. The same happened with formers second fight.

Former that fridge boss for me was the hardest, followed by Tomassi 2 and Essej.
Former was so bad and irritating that I smashed my laptop screen because of it back in 2020.
disagree. 2nd tomassi is extra easy if you are hiding behing the ladder on the second floor.
I must say....if we only base it off pre-dlc bosses, first fight Tomassi is, by FAR, the most difficult fight in the game for me (speaking of 1st time thru).
Jesse has ZERO upgrades and moves and bis launch, floating moveset demands a large learning curve. Seriously took me about 40 attempts and A LOT of nerd raging
Not to mention, I was still new to the game at that point. First fight with Tomassi is just such a pain to start the game with. I entered the room he came in and instakilled me with a debree and I was like "WHat? He can throw that too? OK", second try - dodged his debree and died to random grenade on the ground. ... Several hours later I finally got him with my watergun.
1- The Mold Core was my bane! killed me at least a dozen times. the stupid poison.
2- The Former was also a pain(for the reasons you mentioned)
3- Tommasi was hard but it was satisfying, I was a boss by then and my Pierce gun had a no charge mod and 2 damage mods(no need hold the button to charge before shooting and +120% damage) so it oneshot most enemies and I shot Tommasi 10-15 times and he was gone!
I agree with the list. got the platinum trophy in Destruction AS, Concrete Genie and I saved Control for last.
I died couple of times in Former fight because I fell through the holes he was making with his attack. didn't pay attention to the floor.
Essej killed me 2 times and 3rd time I beat her without a problem. I was in the air entire time and dodged. it can be hard.
Tomassi fight was hardest but the Distorted Hiss killed me while the fight was going fine.
I was just hiding behind the big rock in the middle and hit Tomassi until Distorted killed me. I think it took me like 7 tries to win.
I decided to ignore Distorted and just go to the top bridge thing. when Distorted came up I just went to the other side.
and I won. I finished the story but I need to beat Mold, Anchor and use 100 ability points.
good game but sometimes my head hurt from all these hallways, sections and floors. love the destruction in the game.
a multiplayer game with that engine would be nice

For Salvador I had to upgrade my launch ability by doing side missions. By the time I came back, it was much easier.
I died more to falling than to any enemy in this game
Gravity remains undefeated
Especially with Former on the second encounter. He didn't kill me a single time, I kept killing myself. I even fell at the same time I defeated the first encounter (thank God the game gave it to me)

I die almost 50 times until kill Salvador. Fucking boss of hell.

Where are all these boss fights? I beat the game and encounter very little of these bosses
I would use that big rock to my advantage. Upgrade Charge and use blast radius mods on it and shoot it at the rock, ceiling, floors and walls lol
Former fight 1 is cake if you grab the orbs and launch them when he flips his eye to the big opening. Took him out in 5 minutes.
I still never got past the 2nd fight with Former.
5:02 idk people would think this fight was hard. It deals a lot of damage but has almost no health. With the charge gun and launching, I beat it in like 20 sec or so. It hit me twice and I almost died from that, but still, idk how anyone could think its the hardest

@@joetroutt7425 no I wasn't, I forget how strong I was exactly. I do know this is one of the last places I visited. But I think I was gate kept by the gear needed to get in there. So its not like I did absolutely everything else either.
I do remember this fight being extremely easy. There were plenty of others I had to attempt more than once, this was a one shot for me and didn't take hardly any time at all.
Maybe I just had a better gun or setup for it
@@nickmagrick7702 I am just about maxed out on everything and I spammed the launch button and was shooting it with pierce and it took me at least five minutes to kill it and I almost died myself. If it wasn't for the aerobics mod I would have died.

@@nickmagrick7702 I just found a glitch you can do and you can kill it in about 20 seconds. It literally does nothing while you stand slightly behind that first huge stone you fall down to when Jesse says it's kinda pretty. Nothing happens. It just sits there
Beat Tomassi 2 easily on my first try... not to gloat or anything. The only boss I had to retry was Former cause I didn't see the holes in the ground....

for Former-1 I immediately stand on a high platform, and I think 12 launch later it's dead. the key is to overwhelm him so much with high-end energy recovery and launch mod

I took more attempts and upgrades to beat Salvador. But I would rate Marshall and Hartman are toughest bosses. Still didn't played tomassi 2nd time
Tomassi 2nd fight is nothing compared to Marshall and Hartman 🤣
The hardest thing in this game is that obstacle course time trial lol.
The Anchor gimmick is that it crashes the game every time it attacks.
Dr Hartman is the toughest. A real shit to beat. Essej is easy just hide on the first floor in one of the office spaces. She never goes there to encounter you so you can launch at her in relative safety.
I killed salvador as one of my last boss fights in the game

Anchor was the only kinda hard for me
My strategy to beat essej is what I call "return to sender". I will use launch to lob back her grenades/missiles then use cover and Pierce against levitating essej.
My order:
9: Horowitz (just a Hiss guard. That's probably why you didn't list him. The only hard part was that I didn't want to kill him)
8. Tommasi #1 (killed me once, but using cover helped, and minions weren't too hard)
7. Anchor (I was worried at first after the last few bosses, but Anchor is really vulnerable, and is almost just a waiting game)
6. esseJ (I also feel lucky to first-try this one, but she was not too bad as long as you move from cover to cover. For a first-timer though, she still felt a little arduous)
5. Former #2 (easier this time, but the floor is smaller and breaks more often. Spin melts his health bar and his orbs, though)
4. Tommasi #2 (felt impossible at first, but levitating to the top ledge gives you a break. Just watch out for the Hiss distorted)
3. Salvador (even the regular variants of this enemy, Hiss warped, are hard to take down. Add that with multiple minions and a tight room (unmapped, even) and you have a big skill check at this point)
2. Former #1 (nothing much changed, but the encounter is earlier. However, even with levitating, Former's tentacle attacks somehow connected more often in the first fight for me)
1. Mold-1 (by far the most difficult for me. Your Tommasi #2 is my Mold-1. I was at it for what seemed forever, and I was getting discouraged. Hate to say it, but this one was not fun. Hits that connect with you almost no matter what if you're out of cover, having to be out of said cover when the gases erupt from the ground, and more of this:

also you missed Hiss-corrupted Horowitz out as you pretty much have a boss fight with him oh and Hartman.
Tomassi #2 isn't the hardest.
Just stay on the walkway/crane going across the top of the room. Distorted never reach you. Just kill Charged and then focus on Tomassi.
Second you start the fight, rush up there, and never leave.
The anchor was extremely hard for me. I died so many times. I bet I died 40 times. Trying to dodge all the enemies while staying away from its spray of clocks was infuriating. I found that if you float up to the pedestal to your immediate right there's a wall to hide behind and you can dodge most of the floating shit launching enemies. Just get the exploding ones and use shield when the clocks come at you.
Great list, but I would say that the second fight with Tommasi is the easiest one, Mold-1 was a pain to me
There's also one more boss before you go to the anchor, Horowitz, but that fight is too easy
Yeah, I went back and forth on including Horowitz and he would've been the easiest fight if I did I made the choice not to because he's basically an elite with a big health bar lol. Glad you liked the video and thanks for the comment!
I tried 4 days during 30 minutes every times to finally beat Tomassi (2nd) 😂
I’d have Mold-1 2nd hardest because I fought him more or less straight after I earned levitate. Tomassi was very much a Iudex Gundyr to Champion kind of fight.
You need all your skill and wits about you. It took a good few attempts but I’d say 75% I died at the hands of the Hiss Distorted. Those things are horrible!
None of the boss is hard, it's the things that spawn that try to protect him is what makes it hard.
I was enjoying this game until I faced Tommasi 2.
Yeah, he can be a little frustrating, I can't recommend shield highly enough for dealing with the distorted hiss, that's what killed me probably 70% of the time. The catwalk can really be used to your advantage as well. Just keep at it!
Mold-1 is easily the hardest mf boss. That monster belongs in Bloodborne or Dark Souls!!
Yeah, a lot of people have trouble with that one. You fighting it early on or did you wait till endgame?

Yeah I fought it at the very end of my playthrough after I was fully upgraded and killed it my first try. I think the optional bosses's difficulty is really dependant on when you fight them.
And hard disagree on the mechanics, I thought the combat in that game was really smooth and polished, but to each their own.

I know Parakisenology Chief Lewis wasn's technically a boss fight, but I found him extremely hard to beat.
About esseJ, she is actually stupidly easy due this one bizarre fact about her: She appears to be be allergic to stairs! This gives you a HUGE advantage in the form of the 'balcony' overlook structures in the main room. She is ENTIRELY incapable of following you up there!

A little late here, but second Tomasi took me a lot of effort. Actually I'm pretty sure that I managed to defeat him with some almost glitch, keeping myself on a specific place of the map and hitting him with some low damage attacks.
I found a video saying to go immediately to the right corner and there is a huge stone there to hide behind and a wall. Grab the forklift sitting there and block the entrance of that area (between the wall and the huge stone) and the screaming bat shit hiss can't just pop up in there. Just use pierce for Tomassi and shatter for the exploding hiss and make sure when you use launch to not pick up the forklift blocking the entrance. Oh and kill the exploding hiss before they get to close or they will explode and cause the forklift to explode too dealing more damage to you.
Essej took me 45 minutes
And then there’s me who beat 2nd fight tomassi the first time round but died 10 times to the anchor 😩

For me Molt-1 was the hardest even though I was maxed out and Salvador was the second hardest. But if y'all have trouble just search your settings and turn one-shot kill etc. on.
Wait, is 1 hit kill a new option or something? I don't remember that.
@@DoobieStreams Well it came with an update. I don't know about PC but PS4 definitely has that option.
Hartman is the hardest.

Everything else was easy with launch.
Still haven't got to play the DLC, in hindsight I should've held off on getting the DLC since the Ultimate Edition is a free download now lol.
Seize really is the strategy to use with Salvatore. Im not finished with the game yet, I'm here because of The Mold lol. Its been a bitch for me. Just finally got thru esseJ. I need to find a vid on those Jukebox expeditions. Theyre killing me.
If you have done the foundation dlc then get ready to deal with those teleporting enemies that throw the pick axes at you.

I gave up on the game after being unable to beat the first boss - seeing my currency rapidly depleting with each death - and came here to see if this is like some games, where the first boss is actually the hardest because you have few to no upgrades.
Nope, Tomassi is ranked as one of the easiest bosses in the game. And if it gets a lot harder further in - as in, a boss tougher than Tomassi becomes a regular enemy - I would definitely have spent a lot more time frustrated than having fun. I'm glad I didn't buy this one.
I wouldnt worry about that. I died for couple hours on first Tomassi and was first trying most other bosses. That guy imo comes way too early when the player doesnt even have the controls learned properly and didnt practice on any normal foes. IF you do second playthrough, youll slaughter him first try.

The anchor really is big for nothing. I learned that if you stand on the edge of the platform, you can still throw objects in its mouth without being directly in front of him. So you really can kill him from the first platform. Also when his health gets low he stops aiming at you when firing. This was intended to make it hard. But since you can throw from the edge and still hit the red orb in the center the fight becomes easier because your only threat is the hiss that spawn in. And with max launch and the ability to throw 3 objects at once this fight was over within a minute👍.
I never fought this boss, what you have to do to activate this mission?
As Mold-1 is pretty much a side quest boss can you always return to this boss any point in the game?
Yes it’s free roam after completing the game so you can come back to it anytime

@@nickharrison8993 it’s a side mission called mr tomassi you need to talk to Emily she mentions it when you go to talk to her
For Tomassi's second fight go to the bridge so it can only be you and him fighting all the Hiss are helpless and cannot reach you

I don’t mean to hate but in the former fight footage you’re never using evade and that’s probably the best tip for that fight
It might not have come across in the footage I used but I can assure you I used it quite often. Most of the time I died in the first fight was actually because I evaded into a hole its arm had created lol.

i noticed that essej doesnt fire charge when you come close enough to her instead she uses normal bullets. Thats why iused shield to close the distance and spammed throw at her

The hardest is hartman
hartman is the worst boss by far and its not even close.
I spent 2-3 hours on the second Tomassi fight. At one point, I started to wonder if Remedy even playtested the fight to see if it was possible to beat.
But on the upside, when I finally did kill him, I felt like a god who could fail at nothing for the rest of the game. (I saved Mold-1 and both Former fights until afterward and they were easy as pie by then.)
My winning strategy was to levitate up to the walkway at the very top of the room and just keep moving since there's no cover up there. The advantage of this is that Hiss Distorted (which was my biggest problem) can only approach you from one direction so as long as you look closely for the slight distortions it produces while cloaked, you can take it out while it's still at a relatively safe distance. Full disclosure: I also got lucky because, for some reason, Tomassi decided not to meet me at the top of the room when his health started getting low; he stayed close to the ground so I could just pick him off from above.
After a long day at work, this is not the, game to pick up to relax and be immersed.
I should have finished this on holiday vacation...

This video doesn't include any of the DLC bosses, I made a comment saying that but apparently I forgot to pin it.
I beat Mr Tomassi by staying under the stairs and when the Distorted Hiss appeared, I focused on killing him first. Then, focused back on Tomassi by coming out of the stairs to throw things at him and run back under to replenish my energy bar quickly. The floating Suicide Bomb Hisses can not catch you under the stairs and you can stay there and kill them and the ground troopers will come, but you have the advantage of hiding behind the stairs steel bars and throwing stuff at them or shoot them (whichever you prefer).
