    • @S3l3ct1ve
      @S3l3ct1ve 3 года назад +2

      More smoke doesn`t mean more power :) it means poor tunning. That is simply unburned fuel coming out, so if it issint burned properly it is excessive the engine simply doesnt use that or use only little bit of power of that excessive fuel. This usually happen when people increase fuel ratio too much in order to get power, and they do that simply because they can`t increase air flow, because usually they don`t have supercharger and turbo in the same setup. Turbo takes out the smoke from the engine, while supercharger increase the airflow inside the chamber. When you have both supercharger and turbo, you can lower the black smokes to nearly 0, because you can calibrate the fuel/air ratio more precisely.

    • @ChrisSmith-ig9jq
      @ChrisSmith-ig9jq 3 года назад +2

      @@S3l3ct1ve true but the only reason people have a lot of black smoke when racing diesels is the insure them that there is plently of fuel. u would rather have black smoke knowing u have plently of fuel vs no black smoke and not knowing if u are lacking sufficient fuel supply to engine

    • @donellmuniz590

    I started going to tractor pulls in Indiana as a kid probably be 2 or less remember all of it, ended up getting involved in Drag Racing, my uncle has a modified tractor with three blown Chevys completely built by himself for all intensive purposes, I've worked on nitro cars, promods and so on and I read a lot of the comment when it was first posted and everyone is an expert or they think they know people they've never met for example, we have never met but I do have a lot of respect for what you've been doing with this particular truck and the work you've been putting into it. Guys have been doing extreme things with turbos and tractor pulling for decades but just like you said and to expand upon it a little bit, what you are trying to do and what the tractor pulling or rather Truck and Tractor Pulling community are doing aren't necessarily the same, so I know that you'll just keep stop being a game, learning more developing better systems and parts and things like that to accomplish your goals, you've already accomplished more than most people just from working hard and surrounding yourself with good people. There is a lot of ignorance out there but there are also a lot of great people out there as well. I mean in Nitro drag racing you look at what Alan Johnson has done going back to all those horrible crashes from engine explosions including the one that took his brother's life and all the ones with Gary Scelzi - as one example - to engineer and design high performance parts that can handle what you want to do with them and make things better and safer. Not comparing the vehicles, this is a similar sort of thing where you are doing something in a way that a lot of guys are not doing and it won't be smooth sailing all the time when you're trying to innovate and do things like this. Definitely glad you are okay and I would definitely add some titanium shielding :-) anyways, thanks for the great update and look forward to seeing what you guys do next. Stay safe and have a good one! 😊🤘🏻

Atomized Diesel has a significantly higher BTU than gasoline, and much higher than alcohol. 1 second of epidermal exposure with diesel would be the same as 2.5-3 seconds exposure with gasoline (93 octane). Nitrous Fires would just be insanely hot and pretty much game over with any epidermal contact for any period of time really. Like an Oxy/Acet cutting torch. Shitty way to learn on how to make this better and safer but glad you and Kody are still alive and wasn’t more seriously injured. Trucks can be replaced but you can’t.

    Just catching up on this event over a year later, so glad nobody was hurt or worse, what a spectacular mess, not seen many to compare to this. Cheers to All, stay smart, stay safe, be kind to one another :)
    Edit~ Would it be safe to assume the frame is somewhat compromised now?

    After working on trucks for 30 years I would so love to be involved in a build like this one .
    Thank you for your video and just know I hate y'all had to experience a catastrophic engine explosion. 😵🤕🤑

    I definately feel for ya. Everytime you saw the truck, you would feel so lost, like there was something missing. How far have you got with the new rebuild, I would love to see it or at least the progression ?

    My only point to preach to anyone doing this stuff or anything like this, is take your safety gear seriously. Wear a firesuit, and all the other associated gear. This is proof positive that should be taken seriously even on a dyno. If you can apply ballistic gear around high energy parts, probably a good idea too. Its a hard pill to swallow putting big bucks into stuff that doesn't make more power or make you faster but your safety is worth it!

    Too much nitrous, did you calculate the amount you where spraying? Would be interesting to know. Thanks for sharing the aftermath, would like to see what gave in the first place. Was it the trans and then the engine or first the engine? You blow the trans and unload the engine and you get similar end result as the rpm peaks from the inertia and load from the transmission. At least one big death you suffer in search for glory and power. Rebuild and race again, strap it and pad with kevlar, it absorbs the shrapnel.

    GD its amazing the two of you inside the truck were not injured from flying parts. I'm not sure sfi anything could hold up to that carnage. At least from now on at least where a fire suit and helmet. 💪 Master shredder will see more action in the future im sure.

    While not nearly to this scale, I lost a truck that I loved. (An 04 ram hemi that I had dumped everything into. And at the time it was killer on the track and the 60ft was insane) And I see the same emotion here that I felt. Mine was totaled at a stoplight but it still hurt the same. I feel your pain and hope to see you come back with a 4000hp rig.

    Now i really get why Louis from fuel tech has full suit and Helmet on in their dyno vids. Baca and Shredder are a staple in big hp diesel truck world so glad they made it thru that because it scared the shit out of me thru my tablet screen. Ive been skin graffed on my arms and stomach and burns are the worst pain ive ever felt. I ran just like he did not even thinking of where i was running too.

    Just seen the video on a Facebook short instantly looked it up and seen another video where it showed multiple angles. It shows him hopping out running off for a split second and once he realizes it he sprints back over to see if he can help his buddy all within about a second or 2. I couldn't imagine what I would do after I was involved in something like this but his first reaction was to save his buddy, just thought that showed a lot about his character!
