Hello, I would love to get in contact with you and ask you a few questions if you are comfortable. I think my grandfather served with you. Please look me up on Facebook if possible. Thank you!
I was stationed at 29 Palms in '64-Dec 65. Ironically I was with the Marine Corps band at that time. Brings back fond memories. It is eye opening how much the military band performances have changed. During my era, it was strictly precision marching, no dancing. Times change.

My neon spent nine years in the marines and was at 29 Palms for time. The Marines made him the man he is today and I am proud of him. Thank you to all who served and continue to serve
This band, with other personnel, played at my Son 's graduation from MCRD, San Diego. God bless the 2/5 and 3/1 Marines. God bless the United States Marine Corps.
I assume the handle is your MC serial number. Let me make you sick. Each recruiting office gets a block of serial numbers. people from more rural areas would show up with serial numbers starting with 19 and even 18. I had a corporal in my squad that had entered two years after me and had a serial number 1915xxx. Everybody assumed he was the old salt of the platoon because of his low serial number. Anyway, Puller's driver? I really got to drive LtGen Victor Krulak one time. There was a pair of midgets for you. Puller was 5'7" and Krulak was 5'5". The beast and Chesty what a pair.
I've read through the comments and take note of those from other branches of the armed forces. Personally, I am proud to have served 8 years in the Corps (originally an 0331). I can honestly say that I have a great deal of respect for all veterans, especially the Air Force. They are the only branch where the enlisted men and women are smart enough to send their officers out to do the fighting.
I dont mean to be so offtopic but does someone know a trick to log back into an Instagram account?? I stupidly forgot the login password. I appreciate any tips you can offer me!
@Shiloh Khalid Thanks for your reply. I found the site through google and I'm in the hacking process now. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later with my results.
There is nothing like a military band playing that gets the blood moving and brings back memories, good and bad, of our time in the service of our great nation. Too bad the young people of today didn't take the opportunely to join our military and learn what responsibility is. There's nothing like a veteran talking with another veteran, regardless of branch of service. God bless the men and women service in the military.
I’m so proud of all those who have served to defend this country. There sacrifices are incalculable. We owe a debt of gratitude to all who have served and those who are serving. We wouldn’t be free without them.
One of the finest shows I've ever seen by a military band. Fine musicianship, performance and humor. Kudos to the band and director. I've seen so many military bands marching with music -an embarrassment! If you can memorize your music, stay off the field or out of the parade - high school bands will put you to shame. Notice, this fine band did not need music for a 28 minute show. By the way, did they forget the Air Force?
No, the Air Force was the last service song played before the Marine Corps Hymn. The service songs should be played in the order of precedence established by age. Thus the Army first, Marines second, Navy third, Coast Guard fourth and Air Force last. When a service band is playing this tribute to the services, their song is played last,
OMG I was just browsing through USMC videos and I usually don't watch military bands because there's typically not a lot of appeal to me but boy was I DEFINATELY WRONG about this particular Marine Band. The band was just stunning in every sense of the word; I mean I was really, really immersed and impressed with the performance of the 29 Palms Band. I've visited 8th and I Marine Barracks a number a times over the years and have seen both The President's Own and The Commandant's Own bands which are indeed great but these folks are FANTASTIC...WOW!!!
The Combat Center Band at 29 Palms is hands down (pun intended) the Ultimate Military Band performance I’ve ever seen. There may have a sheet music mix-up though - I could swear I heard the Sousaphones playing the Piccolo bridge! 😮
True: The President's Own is highly competitive and auditions are tough. No boot camp, no rifle training, but they do get promotions. I suspect that some of the Marines in this band didn't go to boot camp...too much musical talent.
Every Marine in the Band went to Marine Corps Recruit Training followed by Marine Combat Training. The President's Own is the only exception to this and that is a very specific and specialized unit that is like no other in the Marine Corps. This is just a standard Marine Band.
These are highly competitive musical positions. Musicians enlist in the Corps but don't go to boot camp or go into combat. Although some who joined, went to boot camp, and were talented musicians were able to join an elite band, whether in a division band, 29 Palms, or in D.C. at H&I. You can tell these Marines are pros and practice routines daily.
Not true at all. All Marines, except those in the U.S. Marine Band (the 'President' Own') in Washington, DC., are fully-combat trained. They attend and graduate from boot camp and an abbreviated spell at the School of Infantry before assuming their duties as musicians. They certainly do go into combat. Look at the medal ribbons they wear that are accompanied by rifle and pistol qualifying badges. They are Marines first, riflemen second and musicians third.
@@64MDWI was a member of the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing Band from Cherry Point, N.C. in 1975-1976 and can tell everyone that every member of that band was fully trained as a combat rifleman first, musician second. And yes the Marine musicians do serve in combat as needed just not as musicians!
I'm not sure where they came up with the date 1938 for the founding of the U.S. Air Force. The United States Air Force was founded officially in 1947. 1938 isn't even the year the U.S. air forces began their service as part of the U.S. Army. My grandfather was in the 96th Aero Squadron in April of 1918 in France. It was part of the first day bombardment group. It began as part of the Army Signal Corps. It's roots actually date to 1917 when they were training in Texas before being shipped to England then on to France. They were not the first American Aero Squadron, but they were the first to drop bombs on an enemy in combat. So 1938 is neither the date of it's first inception nor when the Air Force was officially founded.
Thank you Marines in which my father was in combat, my sister & son also servrd.

If you have ever seen two men greet each other " Hey asshole" and "You ugly dumb bastard" and then hug each other you have seen two Vets say hello.
Amazing and beautiful performance of the US marines band nice
My first time ever to hear a melitary band
The Marines are wonderful always. Great men and women.
I agree. Never seen this kind of professional show .
Outstanding! Semper Fidelis.

Never forget the USN, the USCG in WWII nor Korea or Vietnam in these (& other) such conflicts!
Très impressionnant ! Very impressive how not to love the USMC anthem ?
Each, as all U.S. Marines, first a rifleman and then a bandsman....
True only for field bands. The President's Own is different.
