Belting.. mixing.. tomato, tomahto
They different tho
Hayley Marsh They’re pretty much the same. Every note sung is mixed in some way.
@@HEADLESSwebcam Mixing however isn't actually physically possible, as the vocal folds can't resonate (or vibrate) a chesty voice (low frequency) and a head voice (high frequency) at the same time.
Håkon Bøen it’s possible. Opera singers train to do this and some musical theater schools teach it
@@hakonboen Mixing is very possible. It probably is the only way to healthily sing notes like the one at the end of Memphis Lives in Me 8 times a week. It is more about the placement.
There's nothing more attractive than a guy who can sing lol
@jeremyjordan
never heard anything more true
Mister Golightly a guy with money😔😔
a guy who can dance
A guy who can sing and dance
D4-F4: Yeah easy
F#4-G#4: ok a lil hard but i can do that
A4+: Cries in Baritone
Same
Meanwhile bass cry in corner
Baritones can reach A4 or B4 in mixed voice, tenors also use mix above E4/F4
@Jamie Oliver yea i can but i need to rid of strain
Tsuyokami ahahahahaha I’m cri
Honestly Ben Platt was severely underutilized in the Pitch Perfect series
Was he even used?
YES
That movie hired so many Broadway actors, but then made them all sing pop songs.
But he did an amazing performance everytime in the movie.
Because pitch perfect is garbage
Jeremy Jordan just kept getting higher and higher.
🥵🥵
Crazier thing is most people cannot decipher this but others were belting in a mix voice belt with varying degrees of power which makes some of it sound stronger than others. Jeremy was belting in chest voice.
Ben Platt too. He went higher and higher
@@okebaram he's mixing, it sounds like chesty bcz some tenor naturally had much more chest resonance
@@phucnhahuynh4477 It's still belting tho. I don't think it would be natural for most tenor to push chest up to Eb5

Jeremy Jordan: hold my beer
If only he was crutchie instead of Jack because I read this and my brain immediately went “hold my crutch”
he's great but somehow doesn't do it for me, I know I must be crazy. maybe it gets boring being so good, so reliable? also I'm a huge Last Five Years fan and he is unbearable in it. Anna Kendrick on the other hand is a godsend.
Lol
@@natalionatalio lmao i am the complete opposite. I found jeremy god send and Anna's voice really kinda annoying in tl5y
I’m always struck by how effortless Jeremy Jordan’s belting sounds.
and Jonathan Groff
omg 999 likes
Because he's a tenor
@@drake4611 yeah but a poorly trained tenor or even a tenor who just naturally has a darker timbre doesn’t sound as effortless. It might not sound sound strained but it sounds less like a normal note and more like one they actively practiced.

i'm unhealthily obsessed with the little dance he does during that line pls
leila middleton I’ll be listening to that song in public and like I have to do the lil leg wiggle.
can the Platts save some vocal talent for the rest of us
Yes, they can
No, no they can not.
Not exactly an option.
I’ve been asking that for a couple years and now the youngest of the brothers is singing too

aka guys having better vocal ranges than me for 12 minutes and 23 seconds straight
caraskye I can relate
Just practice and use good vocal technique, none of these guys just woke up and could sing like this. It takes years of dedicated practice to reach these levels, but even a little practice can go a long way. Keep up the hard work and you’ll be belting out high notes before you know it
Mayday Janette hey man some people got deep deep voices

It's always the guys named Ben
Thank you for including belts starting from D4. I always get kinda sad watching these videos because people always ignore the existence of Baritones and start the video with G4, it sucks to be completely ignored 90% of the time
oh trust me I totally get you. im somewhere between a baritone and a tenor, so its always sad to see people only praise high notes, especially when it comes to male singers
I agree I love the Rich Baritones... D4 and Eb4 is very high and passionate in lower vocal fachs
Okay I found my people. I agree!!
Imagine being a bass
My range in chest goes from a B1 to a G#4 so I'm often just shy of so many roles. I've been told I have a beautiful D4 belt from Some Enchanted Evening and can keep it on any vowel until about F4 where it starts getting difficult to reach on a closed vowel. It's nice to see other areas of mens' talent appreciated
I want Jeremey Jordan to kill me with his high notes
*Oh goodness the Platts are multiplying*
I was expecting only tenorrss, the baritones r so refreshing we stan :,)
Norm is just the best
Love the baritones and that they started at D4... Alot of Male singers are indeed baritones and the mid belts are just as earth shattering as a Tenor C👏
@@johnnycuff4647 It is entirely possible for a baritone to belt a tenor C (or higher for that matter)
This video is such a relief. I’m a bass-baritone and I can only hit an F4 if I really try.
I'm a baritone, on a good day I can hit that A4, but G4 is in my comfort zone.
I’m a simple girl, I see Jeremy Jordan i click
Elyza T sam girl frikin same
Preach
THATS EXACTLY WHAT I DID
Every single time Ramin Karimloo sings, my ears get blessed
jeremy jordan can really just curb stomp me with his voice
I don't like knowing that guys can belt higher than me.
We love it when it ends with a (talented af) guy singing a song written for a woman that isn't even in my range. Sometimes I hate being a contralto.
@@goodjobeli being a soprano doesn't necessarily mean being able to hit those higher notes. I just found out that I'm a tenor and I can barely hit an A4. My voice starts to get really loud around F4 and although I can hit a C2 (not fry), it does not make me a bass, not even baritone because I sound quiet in those lower ranges. Me not being able to hit a high C just means I don't have enough training. And you might not even be a contralto. Most singers think they are of a lower voice type. You gotta realize that basses and contraltos are really rare
RedSpecial96 I love your comment! I’m a bass and before vocal training I could barely belt a Middle C (C4). Now I can get up to an F#4. The sad part is I’ve worked with SO many “basses” who are actually at the very least baritenors who don’t realize that they have the high notes in them.
@@m13laball I think people get confused because of the voice classification system. That system is way too old to be relevant and it's used for choirs. I always thought that I was a baritone because of that system. How long have you been training if I may ask?
@@RedSpecial96 Four years in a college setting. Voice classification systems truly have been confusing in my experience. For example, in a choral setting, I was shoved into the tenor section in high school because my voice wasn't "loud" in my lower range, but consequently, that meant I was singing predominantly falsetto because I couldn't sing higher than a middle C. Stepping into the musical theatre world, I've usually been a bass because in shows like Evita, my lower range actually stood out down in second octave. When I sing classical, I'm always given bass-baritone pieces; my voice teacher aiming to bring out that operatic quality in the fourth octave to make it easier for me to handle higher musical theatre roles (for example, now I'm in Rent, and the bass parts hover around the C4-F4 region). Then there's a lot of myths around voice classification and whether or not it's focused on how low you can go, or how high you are comfortable.
I wish Jonathan Groff was my friend. He’s my platonic crush right now
In case you didn’t know, a platonic crush is called a squish :3

me listening to any song:
also me:
jeremy jordan should sing this
11:11 My man Jeremy literally went "NO I CAN GO HIGHER"
my notes are high
*but they can be higher*
When we reached Bflat 4 not even 7 and a half minutes into a 12min video I was like HOW HIGH WE GONNA GO?!?
We are UP there ladies and gents
do you mean sustained? because touching it would still be belting it
Most of these are clearly reached with connected voice - thus belted (since belting means dragging the register higher than it normally wants to be - so in this case beyond the flip-to-falsetto point). Those which aren't in my opinion are:
Alfie Boe's B4 - it's a beautiful operatic tone, but it feels like it was reached via shaping a very resonant falsetto.
Matthew James Thomas C5 - classic example of a decent attempt to fake belting sound with reinforced falsetto.
Lucas Steele's C#5 - it's so obvious reinforced falsetto. He tries to cover it up a bit with distortion, but he needs completely different shape for it to sound anywhere close.
Josh Young's D5 on "please" - first and second D5's are belted, but this one has too painful of a consonant-vowel combo to be beltable that high (especially for Josh, since he has a baritone voice), I've never seen anyone belting this note and Josh is no exception - he reaches it with reinforced falsetto.
Lucas Steele's E5 - I'm not completely sure with this one, since he starts the phrase with reinforced falsetto-like tone and ends in a belting quality. However him using reinforced falsetto to hit the highest notes from that riff is a pretty valid explanation of what's going on there.
Forealllll
We gonna go up to Alex Newell hunny!
Jeremy Jordan's A4 is a gift to mankind
and yet, no love for Stuart Matthew Price's Bb4?
Jeremy Jordan

Ramin hitting those notes makes me melt and makes my jaw drop. I’ve seen him perform live four times (once in Anastasia, twice in les mis, and once in secret garden).
You saw him in Secret Garden?!?!?! I am JEALOUS. I missed his Australian concert :( I did find a boot of it tho.
Lucky!!!
He's my absolute favorite Broadway performer!
I read that as Ramen and I was so confused for like a whole second before I realised
He’s amazing! I opened for him and watching him before the show, especially on stage was freaking ridiculous!!
HE IS AN AMAZING VALJEAN
NO ONE CAN CHANGE MY MIND
Man, the sheer quality of Jeremy Jordan's voice just never ceases to amaze me. It's always so clear and powerful.
Also - I'd like to recommend Reeve Carney (Hadestown, Spiderman: Turn Off the Dark) for the next list! That dude has got some serious vocal skills, he makes singing falsetto look absurdly easy.
Reeve is great!
Imo damon from the off broadway hadestown was a better fit but reeve can sing
Someone obviously stans Jeremy Jordan
Everyone SHOULD stan Jeremy Jorden 🥰
*And here, picking belts from D4, Mr.Golightly proves again y we love him*

@@mrcrabskachow3373 the song’s called Pity The Child. it’s from Chess!
I love how the same note is incorporated differently into a song, thus bringing a different tone to it! That’s _genius!_
I LOVE HUNCHBACK!!! All the roles are really challenging and anybody who can pull the show off are absolute LEGENDS!!!! Thanks for another great and addicting video!
That new intro👏👏👏
i feel like its the end of an era...but the start of a new one - allllll at the same time
I love Jeremy Jordan! His range uhhhhhhh
Oh my god dan, you didn’t have to flex on us that hard . Also, Jeremy???? Like what a king
I love that you started @ D4 and showed not just Tenors but baritones love.
we need a female one too unless u already have one lol!!! i freaking love this
In this type of way nope so maybe!
Mister Golightly omg a legend and yay!!! broadway actors have such powerful voices it's so fun to watch a video like this!!
ellie Isn't the whole channel basically that?
jeremy really said ⬆️⬆️⬆️
RAMIN KARIMLOO FOREVER! And MICHEAL CRAWFORD, HELL YEAH, BEST PHANTOMS!!
(Also Norbert Leo Butz, Ben Lewis, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ben Platt, Jonathan Groff, Dan Domenech, Andrew Rannells, Jeremy Jordan, and Ryan McCartan, they’re all great too.)
Sierra Eumurian Colm Wilkinson?
@@noahlibra, YES THAT PERSON TOO
Hearing Derek Klena's A4 next to a lot of other male singers A4 reminds me just how top of his range that note is.
Plus the placement of "burg" is really awkward
Joseph Johnson It also depends on the vowel you place it on. He doesn't sing it on a pure vowel, making it a lot harder. Whereas a lot of other singers have chosen to place that held "burg" on more of an "ah" vowel, making it easier.
Not really. In this video he briefly hits a B4 at 1:28. ruclips.net/video/m8zSBalT4Cc/видео.html And regularly for like events and things he sings "Goodbye" from catch me if you can which has a sustained Bb4.
Rebecca Jay that song is just impossible to sing because that last note comes out of nowhere. Speaking from experience lol
I think it’s more to do with an awkward vowel and how you have to really jump up to the note with a big interval than Derek’s range
*there's also West End (yay!) stars here, but "Broadway" is more assimilated with theatre in the GP
*11:20 is Chad singing just not him in the video
Sorry, this may sound ignorant, but what/where is GP?
Gigi Em general population
What was the song Mandy patinkin sung on his first showing at 1:15
@@crookkun1123 ''Move On" from Sunday in the Park with George.
Colm Wilkinson, Philip Quast, and Ramin Karimloo are my favorites.
youtube: hey you’ve watched that video of jeremy jordan singing it’s all coming back to me now like, 800 times, do you wanna watch part of it in a video with a ton of other broadway stars???
me:...yes of course i do thank you.
(this is an amazing video but including the end of santa fe from newsies live? thank you. thanks. straight to my heart.)
One word
Yes.
I came for Andrew Rannels my child, but I was surprisingly suprised when I got Ben Platt,Matthew Morrison,Brandon Uranowitz,Jonathan Groff,Jason Micheal Snow,Aaron Tveit,Gavein Creel,Dan Domenech,Alex Newell and many more.
Edit:Woah.78 likes!! That’s the most I’ve gotten!Thank so much guys
You mean OUR child.
@SpideyDraws:3 we share are broadway children 😂
1:00 Raul's singing face always makes me chuckle. He's like frozen in time
LMAO! They did him dirty with that angle
Singer’s face. Happens a lot in choir
The lack of love for Derek klena in this comment section Is killing me
You literally had all of my favorite musicals and musical moments in one video... I love you.
Me: Oh my god that notes so high I can never hit when I sing that song
Also me: OH wait thats the same note i sing in this other song all the time?
Wow thank you for this video it boosted my confidence.
Omg same
Weird flex but ok
It actually depends on voweling and enunciation. Like I can hit notes easier than others using different words.
I feel like this is a brag that you tried to do subtly and it's honestly bugging me a little 🙃
OMG ME TOO
Welp. I’m pregnant now.
Aaron Tveit has a child now and his name is gonna be Dallas Jonathan Tveit after Dallas Winston and Johnny Cafe from The Outsiders
Congratulations!
I was just gonna watch one more video before going to bed, but now I'm all jittery from all that awesomeness! Truly, Jeremy Jordan is the gift that keeps on giving (and all the others as well too of course, but I cannot express in words how much I love JJ)
All of them are glorious!!!
A few of my favorites were Jeremy Jordan, Ramin Karimloo, and Michael Arden
I’m pregnant with quintuplets just wanted to let you know
Can I be the babies godfather?
Good luck
Child support finna be off the charts
That’s so cool you’re lucky
Good luck!
Thank you for including the "Games I Play" G4 its so overlooked......I feel robbed at the absence of "Both reached for the gun" G4 though, especially since its up to the actors jurisdiction how long the note is held and some of them go for an INSANELY long time.....
IN 👏🏾THIS👏🏾HOUSE👏🏾WE👏🏾STAN👏🏾 SUPPORT👏🏾AND👏🏾RESONANCE👏🏾
You done good putting Jeremy in the thumbnail there. i came for him, i stayed for some good broadway boy belting (and jeremy cause are you JOKING)
YESS LOVE ME SOME MICHAEL ARDEN APPRECIATION
THANK YOU!!!
Michael Arden deserves so much more love 😭
My favorites are probably Matthew James Thomas’s C5, so pure. Michael Arden’s anything in huntchback, and Jeremy always gets to into his live intimate performances. ❤️Also Oliver Thompsett’s D5 is so smooth!! 😍
Yeah, I'll be looking up MJT after this, that was amazing.
You’re allowed to enjoy it, but it shouldn’t be in a belting combination - it’s clearly not a belt.
YES so glad Lucas Steele is in this!! His vocals literally give me chills everytime I hear them!
Jeremy Jordan is an absolute legend omg
Leslie Odom Jr's A4 is missing.
What song is that from
@@hector3810 the room where it happens from Hamilton
ICONIC
I LOVE LESLIEEEE
In the ROOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
Michael. Arden. What a voice! I just love him so much.
So happy to see Raúl in here, his voice is spectacular 💕
Great collection! So many of them also sang with musicality. Talented bunch of dudes!!!
It’s so weird not seeing Selena in your profile pic
Melody Altamirano We have the same profile pic. I was confused for a little there. Lol.
Anyone else notice a trend with the F4's / F#4's?
It's the male money note, chest voice wise it seems
Sarah Whitney what’s the trend?
@@memoirsofanimperfectbaritone umm.... It's a repetitive vocal notion for male belters
It's the C5 for male vocals
Kody Abarr Can’t relate. That would be a D4 for me.
I was gonna be upset if I didn't see Jeremy Jordan singing Santa Fe.
I’m in heaven, thx for starting the video off with my favorite musical theater actor!!
I’m glad these guys are good at belting cuz I sure as hell am not
Ooh I loved Colm Wilkenson, titus and Jeremy ofc
yess andrew rannells, derek klena, and christian borle are amazing! they deserve so much more recognition
Derek Klena and Jeremy Jordan are honestly my favorites... It made me happy when Anastasia and newsies was up there. I wish Derek Klena can get more amazing roles (thatbi know of)
Okay. Raúl Esparza has my heart with his melodic voice and his acting on SVU.
I would give almost anything to hear Michael Arden reprise his role as Quasimodo. Or Colm Wilkinson in Le Mis.
Mister Golightly, thanks so much for all of the hard work on these compilations. They make me feel!
Thank you Clayton! I'm glad you can enjoy these! xx
Philip Quast's voice is so damn powerful.. . . I just 😩
Love Jeremy, Ben and Lin
Emma Higgans yeahhhh
Yeeeee
0:50 yes
1:23
2:26

4:00 the king
5:00 loving that riff
5:53
7:03 who is HE
Yessss! Jeremy Jordan is the king
I agree with your ideal monarchy. That is in fact the king
memoirs of an imperfect baritone 7:03 I know right
I knew Raul Esparza would be here!!! Love him so much and I'm excited to see him back on Broadway :)
Both Javert and Frollo end songs where they’re talking to God but belting a D4. Both characters’ motives are blinded by religion and what they think is right
