4:34 No, we need to talk about this one. See, that note was not part of the original recording, Jeremy threw that in. Oliver Tompsett!! That D5 was mix and was effortless! Sounded resonant too! One of the best attempts at higher mix in this vid! Most of these guys that werent relying on falsetto or head voice were straining or pushing a little. That D5 from Oliver was PERFECT.
I'm so jealous of these because 1) They can sing so well and 2) I will never be able to go so high even if I'm a female. I will cry in a corner now. Also, I will never get over the fact that we could've had Jeremy Jordan in The Greatest Showman.
Jordyn Chené Harper-Morris Oh really??? OBSERVE THE EVIDENCE: EXHIBIT A: His high notes. The comparison of Ben Platt, Jeremy Jordan, and Corey Cott singing the climax of Maria show that JJ and CC keep the tenor fullness to their voice, Ben’s gets pencil thin and is “pushed forward” through the mask, the way a baritone’s mixed voice does. I have a hypothesis that Ben’s signature hyperspeed vibrato is actually a side effect of being a baritone, the vibrato is needed to ease the tension in his vocal cords when he wants to bring more resonance into his voice, but that’s an academic essay for another time. EXHIBIT B: Ben’s low notes, the most compelling evidence. Let’s continue on the train of having Jeremy Jordan be the example of the Quintessential Tenor. JJ’s voice starts to lose fullness at C below middle (C3), to the point where he’s uncomfortable singing live below an A2 (half a step below the lowest note in Waving Through a Window). Ben Platt on the other hand, HOO BOI. Fully voiced F2 in his first hot tub video with his brother and a gorgeous F#2 on the ending of New on his album Sing to Me Instead (this is the low note that Javert hits during The Confrontation, or if you prefer, lower than Audrey 2 ever sings during the entirety of Little Shop of Horrors). Not even a hint of vocal fry or artificial darkening. It does take effort, but like I said, he’s a baritone, not a bass. Exhibit C: Ben’s speaking voice, a controversial choice to look at in the world of vocal classification, but the absolute smoking gun if you know what to look for. Mandy Patinkin famously has a speaking voice that is incredibly huskier and deeper than his light lyric tenor singing voice, but if you listen closely, Patinkin tends to drop off into breathiness and fry the deepest sections of his speaking voice. On the other hand, Ben Platt speaks softly and entirely in his nasal resonance, a side effect of his extensive vocal training. Soft and nasal is the recipe for high notes in a tenor, so you’d expect his voice to be sitting pretty solid in the tenor comfortable range, right??? WRONG, Ben Platt’s speaking voice sits around G2-B2, smack dab in baritone territory, with absolutely ZERO vocal fry and a high larynx. Checkmate, atheists. CONCLUSION: Ben Platt is an extremely well trained baritone with an incredibly developed singing voice that is the result of the highest caliber of vocal coaches, a lifetime of experience, and God-given talent. Or you could just call him a baritenor and stop caring lol. Be safe, make good choices, stay healthy, and wash your hands! 💛
@ Tommy Tran; so is Norm Lewis, and yet he can hit all the notes a tenor and above can. (That’s probably because of 40+ years training / experience but there’s there’s the similar evidence to Brad Platt.)

heyjubes both of Lucas Steele’s were from The Great Comet of 1812 (the second one is from the song Pierre and Anatole), and both of John Lloyd Young’s were from Jersey Boys (songs are sherry and walk like a man)
First of Josh Young's is Heaven on Their Mind from JCS. First of Jeremy Jordan's is From Now On from The Greatest Showman. First of Ramin Karimloo's is Beauty Underneath from Love Never Dies and second is Confrontation from Les Mis. Those your marked as Gethsemane are right. Both Geronimo Rauch's and Nick Adams are A Little Bit of Good from Chicago, but Geronimo's is Spanish version and I think the title of the song is Un Poquito de Bondad in Spanish but I'm not sure.
I cry every day because I was born a baritone/bass 2 with a passion for Broadway... Unfortunately you don’t see too many lead roles with low voices anymore… they’re all tenors or FUCKING SOPRANOS 🤯
Antonio Cipriano, Josh Young, Jeremy Jordan, Alex Newell, Morgan Karr, Justin Johnston, and Ben Platt notes and runs had me speechless, they are natural born singers.

heyjubes both of Lucas Steele’s were from The Great Comet of 1812 (the second one is from the song Pierre and Anatole), and both of John Lloyd Young’s were from Jersey Boys (songs are sherry and walk like a man)
@@alisha_1972 thanks!
@@sue9584 thank you!
@@lunatickgeo sorry made a mistake, the second song of Ramin is Prologue from Les Mis, not confrontation
I cry every day because I was born a baritone/bass 2 with a passion for Broadway...
Unfortunately you don’t see too many lead roles with low voices anymore… they’re all tenors or FUCKING SOPRANOS 🤯
4:19 Jeremy is stood on a box to be the same height as Cheyenne. Since the song they’re singing was sung by twins or something
Alex Newell (aka Unique from Glee) serving notes notes in the 5th octave with his chest voice
Yaaaaaasss queen!!

I love how Nick Adams is flexing on us as he hits the A5 note🤣
Antonio Cipriano, Josh Young, Jeremy Jordan, Alex Newell, Morgan Karr, Justin Johnston, and Ben Platt notes and runs had me speechless, they are natural born singers.
