I absolutely hate cleaning but the grout in my shower was black. I’ve tried every cleanser spray and even that blue foam and none of them work. So I came here and found this and thought “why not try it” and holy cow this actually works. I did not think it would but it actually does! I highly recommend trying this.
Thanks for your confirmed feedback... Also, if you can improve the ventilation in your shower/bath, then you won't get this to begin with... Mold hates fresh circulating air...
The hack of a lifetime! Just tried this out today and it works like a charm! My girlfriend didn't think it was possible at first, but she became a believer when she saw the result. Thank you, thank you!
Oh my goodness THANK YOU! I had been trying for years to make my shower nice by using a metal scrubby and bleach powder but NEVER go it this clean. Soooo much easier. And I just made a bunch of the paste and slathered it on with a glove all over the shower
Have you tried Cillit bang black mould remover? It’s so quick! Spray, leave it on for a bit and then rinse. No need to scrub and all the yellow bits are gone (not just the mould).
I made mine a little less pasty but it worked like a charm. I hardly scrubbed at all. It was as if it melted the dirt off. I will never use anything else for my grout. Thank you so much!!!!!!! My family thanks you as well...no longer scared to shower lol
There are so many youtube videos out there that almost look like they are professionally staged so it was refreshing to see a "real" person make a normal youtube video. Will be trying this tomorrow, and will let you know how it went........................adding this to previous comment...........Tried this and it works superb. The bathroom tiles look new. So glad I came across this method of cleaning the grout.
Thank you so very much for posting this! I tried it today and our shower walls and floor are sparkling! And the bleach must’ve interacted with the baking soda in such a way as to REALLY diminish the bleach smell. It wasn’t a bad experience at all.
thankyou very much for sharing, I tried this today and didn't think it was going to work as I live in a very old apartment with old dirty grout in the shower recess but I was amazed how well it worked, did exactly as you showed in this video (old toothbrushes come in handy :-) ) my shower is now clean thanks to your video :-) :-) Also on here I see a lot of concerns about fumes, I have a really big exhaust fan in my bathroom which I can adjust to high speed, the majority of the fumes will pass out through the exhaust fan (leave windows open)
Totally agree. I have an older shower. Other videos recommended the toilet bowl cleaner-it just made a mess. This bleach paste works perfectly. I let it sit overnight. Just requires rinsing. WOW! FYI, For soap scum a rental property owner used vinegar and dawn. I left overnight. Next morning an easy wipe down “melted” all of the soap scum. Two easy solutions. Done!
Added bonus if you have an Oral B or other electric toothbrush! I used an old toothbrush head with my Oral B, and it makes it even easier! TBH I don't like bleach but I used Vim bleach creme cleanser (or Cif, or Jif depending on your country) with the electric toothbrush, and it came up like brand new with just a tiny amount of cleaner for each line of grout.
It took out some tough, black mold without a lot of scrubbing. Let the stuff sit for a couple minutes, scrub, spray down with the shower head. Squeegee down walls after every shower, and use mild bleach or shower cleaner regulararly to slow mold growth. OPen shower door or open curtain to quicken drying after shower/ bath.
Bleach is fine to clean stains, just don't do it often. Even if you 100% kill any mold/bacteria, you *still* have stains. Spray vinegar once a week and let it sit for 5-10 minutes to keep things clean and an anti-fungal to prevent mold. These comments are weird.
After I do a pre-clean , I use color grout sealer in white. It's similar to grout or paintable silicone in consistency. It can last 3-5 years depending how well you take care of your grout, or how fast the sealant wears off due to the quality of water coming into contact with it.
@@ms.anonymousinformer242 Thanks for this tip. I'm looking to move into a unit and the bathroom tile n tub are a hot mess. Rental agent not helpful. Looks like ill have to clean it myself.
This is amazing!!!! I tried so many products to try get my showers clean and now thanks to you I’m not embarrassed by them anymore and it was sooo easy. Thanks. Sooo you wouldn’t have trick for oven cleaning would you 😂😂
You need to buy the Clorox Tilex and spray on the ground and leave it over night. Next day it will be clean like new no rubbing, no need to use the toothbrush.
Echoing, I make homemade soaps and use the essential oils/fragrance (EO) into a simple solution of regular dish soap (like dawn). It's much cheaper than using shampoo and you still get that great smell. An little of EO goes a long way. I use 1 oz to 2 lbs of soap, so only one drop of EO to a quart works. Besides, you can change your EO for a different fragrance anytime you want. You can even use a bit of Tea Tree oil to keep the mold from coming back. Ensure you add an EO since some people think that Tea Tree oil smells.
GUYS, THICK BLEACH. I just cleaned tiles grout in my bathroom as well as painted walls with just thick bleach. Toothbrush and cloth were my tools. All mildew, mold, fungus or whatever it was, disappeared! The bleach also help to clean/brighten all spots where the grout was discolored. I am so pleased with the results. Everything just melted away! THICK BLEACH is my best friend now ;-)
I’ve found you must be careful with Clorox. It cleans, but it’s really strong, be careful not to get it on yourself and don’t let it spray around. It puts white spots on anything, like towels, it touches.
Thanks to the uploader and the viewers leaving comments and providing alternatives. - vim cream with bleach, so without mixing; - or Clorox Tilex; -or 1 pt dish washing detergent to 2 pts apple cider vinegar. Question: will all these damage grout already sealed?
This may work well but my eyes do not accept bleach. My experience with some black grout on kitchen tiles is using the 'Vim Cream with bleach' and it worked very well. No mixing. Also, using harder bristle toothbrush works better. I just finished this job and happy with it. Note that kitchen grout gets dirty, bathroom grout is mostly due to mold.
Be aware that vinegar is damaging grout (contains calcium carbonate). For example, see what happens when you drop vinegar onto eggshell. I am afraid that bleach does similar damages.
@@antoniovivaldi2270 Im sure for someone moving into an old house with a dirty shower like this, one time wont be as damaging as regularly cleaning it like this. Maybe that is all that should be clarified in the video. 😉

Hi Yazmin! I was wondering if you have dealt with stubborn mold under the bathtub caulking? I removed the caulking and cleaned the surface underneath and re-caulked. In just under 6 months, the moldy spots grew back!

Should we dilute the vinegar with water? Or just pure distilled vinegar?

I actually did it. Almost die it was so strong!! It did get the tiles clean, but not super white.

My mixture foamed up like a mad potion, and the fumes nearly killed me. I used a wire brush in the end lol.
You used vinegar, not bleach...
Plus it is a good idea to have a window or at least the bathroom door open when doing this

One part cheap dish washing detergent and two parts Apple cider vinegar works good too and isn’t toxic.

Thanks for the tip! Been looking for a way to improve our shower.... GREAT advise!
Once you get mould in the grout, you will always probably have it returning. It's a matter of keeping it under control
tectorama spraying hydrogen peroxide controls it
I did this, you need to be careful and wear a mask. I felt very sick breathing in bleach doing this. It does work, but I had to leave mine overnight.
One question. If the grout has been sealed, does the bleach diminish the seal?
Use a toilet chlorine tab. Wet the shower. Wear gloves and rub the tab along the grout. Let it sit for 20 mins and rinse. Clean grout.
I heard that it will destroy the grout if you use the gel chorine bathroom toilet cleaner
Worked really well thank you for posting video 👍🏼🤩
Good idea! Can’t hood bleach vertically due to gravity so I’m glad I saw this video! About to try.
You might want to consider using safety googles also since that paste can go everywhere when you scrub it, better safe than sorry.
