Finally, someone who got to the point and demonstrated as he spoke instead of 2 minutes of uselessness and then a weak demonstration. This is the video I needed.
Yeah, they were made for a different time, one such as TV where air time is expensive. RUclips on the other hand, we have people trying to stretch a 1 minute video into a 10 minute video for more ad revenue
I say this from the bottom of my heart, thank you and God bless you and so many others like you for posting DIY videos on RUclips. I have learned soooo much from experts and you have all saved me so much time and money on my household projects. with all that's sideways in this world, there is so much more good an surely this is no small part of that
I think this video demonstrates ‘how to’ on two levels. How to fix grout, & how to make an instructional video on RUclips. 😉 Thanks for an awesome video on both.
Excellent Video!! PEOPLE do not be afraid of taking on this task. It's not very difficult, just be careful and take your time. You will get the feel for how the grout flows and sets as you do this and it will get easier as you go. Also Don't be afraid to mix your own grout if it's powder. Just wanted to share some encouragement🙂
Best video I have seen on the subject . I like how you don’t have your back to us and you are showing us an example on a flat surface. You get straight to the point ! I feel confident about doing mine now. Thanks for the very “clear”, no nonsense video !!!😃
I so needed this video Ron. I’ve moved into a new house with dirty old grout tile. So if I can’t get it clean I will refresh it. Looks easy and something I can do myself. Thank you👍🏼
Ron! I’m elated to have found your channel. I have early memories of my dad watching your channel and I just want to thank you for all you do! 10/10 immaculate vibes
I needed this. I’ve scrubbed and scrubbed, and can get the grout looking better, but not to the original color. I’ve wondered if there was a tool like this, and voila! There is. Thanks so much. I’m saving your video.
I would add one step, use a heavy duty disinfectant to kill any mold or mildew after you scrape! This was you don't have any growing underneath your new grout, otherwise the grout sealer will make it impossible to clean as it would seal over top and it will still show! Thanks for sharing
My man! This video is perfection because it looks like it was recorded during a time when people took pride in their work and weren’t focused on just clicks and likes.
Fantastic! I missed this grout saw step and each time I went to touch up the excess just eroded off the top leaving it the way it was before. It was good if I got a chip out since it filled the hole, but the rest just came back like it was before.
That golden brown hue actually matched these tiles better than white! 😁 but seriously, thanks for the tips. You demystified it enough for me to give it a go. 😊 Whether I’ll have the stamina to do:the whole bathroom remains to be seen! 😁. Thank you 🙏
Thank your sir old video still helpful going to re grout my old sink with tiles around it , I’ve been gathering prep tools 🛠️ instead paying someone $2k no thanks!!
Same here. I have been looking at so many options. This will hold me over until I save enough to get a new countertop. I’ve been resisting since I saw this about a year ago lol
mix a baking soda paste and spread over the grout and allow to sit for a while. It will remove staining also. Id try that before Id try and scrape out the grout but this is a good idea if that didnt work as good as you want it.
I have 650 sq feet of gross grout to deal with. I will do this on a weekend instead of deep cleaning and using grout paint. I wasn't sure if i could scrape the grout like that, thanks for the green light!
I wish I had seen this 35 years old ago when we moved into a solid built older house. Really big enough for 4 children. 3 full baths and kitchen have white grout that needed regrouting since we moved in. I’m gonna do this. I just didn’t know there was such an easy solution.
Excellent video. Will definitely try. I have the exact tiles but mines are a lil scratched and scuffed. Any tips on how to bring back the shine? Thank you in advance
The PROPER way to wipe off the grout with the sponge is to make one pass diagonally, just like with the float, then flip the sponge and take another pass, then rinse and wring the sponge. Repeat, rinse, repeat.
Would this method work if replacing the grout with a darker coloured grout? I would like to refresh from white discoloured grout and replacing with grey? Thanks
I used hydrogen peroxide and bicarbonate of soda mix and a toothbrush. Seriously doubted it would work but it did. Try a test patch to see. Grout looks like new.
Hi Ron, Thanks for such a good video for "Refreshing Tile Grout". I am ready to try your method but have a concern. We bought the house over 10 yrs ago and I believe the Tile is Natural Stone. My Shower tile is 6" square, however the Tile surface is NOT perfectly flat. There are "Divers and pockets" on the surface, where I am concerned about applying new grout on the tile. I will try to attach a photo. Do you have a method for Refreshing the grout with this type of tile. The grout lines are 1/8" to 1/4" wide?
Thank-you! So informative!!!! Can I do this but use a different color? The existing grout is nice but maroonish in color...would like to change it to a neutral!
All my floors are grade 5 commercial white porcelain tile, I mop it every week and periodically use an older machine that scrubs floors and has wheels for applying wax to wood floors which I dont use, but the brushes do a great job cleaning the grout and tile. My kitchen counter is made up of many 3" square Talavera tiles of different colors and designs, I use a scrub brush and sponge on that
One of the most useful tools that a home owner should have (especially in the modern day due to affordability) is a multi tool. This is a oscillating tool. And like a Dremel (rotary tool), there are a bunch of attachments. One such attachment is a blade specifically designed to remove grout between tiles. Trust me... Get it. The hand scrapping method on a real world shower wall (not a demo piece made for a tv segment) is a tedious and time consuming process. Save yourselves a ton of time and use a multi tool with the grout blade so you can finish and get to the cleaning, regouting, cleaning buffing, silicone sooner.
I always get a kick out of how easy it is to this on a nice flat surface demonstration table with little 4 inch ceramic tiles than in the real world of big tile floors, irregular patterns and shower surrounds.
Thank you so much Ron for this video, much appreciated. If you have the ceiling to paint of a shower room, do you first paint the ceiling and walls and then do the grouting?
Finally, someone who got to the point and demonstrated as he spoke instead of 2 minutes of uselessness and then a weak demonstration. This is the video I needed.
My thoughts exactly
@@Firetwirlerschannel he made it look too easy though, tile people charge 4 -800 dollars
This isn’t a grout refresh. It’s a grout replacement.
😆 ah finally someone who put into words what I couldn't!
And thank YOU for putting my thoughts into words. Haha Just read above.

None of that clout grout bullshit. I'm here for the grouting.

The Bob Ross of grout restoration.
Definitely going to be doing this soon! Thank you!!
I wasn't expecting a 90's Saturday afternoon PBS type video😅
Applause to this author for making a brief, to the point, instructive video!

Hi Pam, have you tried doing this yet? :)
Great video. No filler. Straight to the point.
When you regrout make sure you buy the stain proof premixed grout. Its more expensive but it will last longer.
That is easily the best, most concise instructional video ever.

Excellent VDO!
No nonsense like the others.. 10 minute talk talk talk!!
Straight forward and fast demo.
Thank You!

EXCELLENT VIDEO FROM THE TOOLS TO USE AND HOW TO REMOVE THE OLD GROUT. ALSO HOW TO RE-GROUT AND PROPERLY FINISH OFF THE NEW GROUT.
Thank your sir old video still helpful going to re grout my old sink with tiles around it , I’ve been gathering prep tools 🛠️ instead paying someone $2k no thanks!!

I’ve been looking into painting / staining my discoloured grout. I think I should spend the extra time and do this. Thank you for this video.

Fabulous demo! Thank you so much……you’ve taken all my fears away about re-grouting! Now I just have to do it 😅.

Exactly what I needed and mission accomplished. Thanks for the no-nonsense video! :)
So much better than me taking out the whole damn grout thanks a lot. Especially since I’m new at this and just redoing my bathroom
Thank you ❤❤❤ for helping me with my next project
Excellent video, straight to the point with clear demonstrations
Just the ticket, I had no idea how to refresh my bathroom tiles ~ now I have the knowledge, thanks buddy👍
I love the old school transition music between steps. Great video

This may be the most perfect video I’ve ever seen!! 😮😮😮 ❤
best video on how to refresh tile grout. I will do this for my shower. thanks

Thanks Ron you are so easy to follow with this video.i will give it a go
Excellent video. Very well produced. Great information.
Best grout refreshing video on you tube. I owe this man a beer!
Excellent demonstration...
Ron, you’re the tile man!
Or... Work along the same angle as the grout lines to make them look nice. Then second pass diagonally to polish the tile
@@anonymous7192 I'm referring mainly to removing grout from the tile surface.

@@melissamaughan4354 It will take a lot of work to get the grout cleaned down far enough so it won't show through the darker grout, but it will work.
