awesome video and very thorough. I am seriously considering the 70d. Currently I own a T1i and I can't wait to upgrade. By the way, your videos are very informative. Good work!!
It's fortunate for Canon they have the brand recognition because their sensors in both their expensive and cheaper cameras are outclassed by the competition at all price points. I am hoping Canon get this sorted out because I see a lot of people griping about Canon's dynamic range and it only gets worse as the years go by without improvements.
Thank you Toby for another great video. I have delayed my entry into the DSLR world for 10 years. In 2005, I got the CanonPowershotPro1 but the sensor broke in 2010; got the canon S95 in 2011. Great great pocket shooter; still in full use today with me, then last year I waited to see if the next rebel will have the sensor of the 70D. If it it had it, then ill go with the new rebel, if not then the 70D, I said to myself. But alas, I could not wait any longer then and jumped with the 70D. IM glad to have got the 70D back then Not have waited as I have racked up several thousands of photos now on different trips.
Hi Toby really great video to guide armature's to select a right dslr...!! Well, i will request you to highlight on the focusing system of the Rebel t6s & 70D as using same AF system. As You showed up the 70D center focusing issue which was really great to know.. ! If you please do the same tests with the Canon t6s would be alot better to see...:)
Thanks for the review. This review made me purchase the T6i, or as we call it in Europe the 750D. This camera is going to be used as a starter camera for my daughter. Because the 800D is on the market now i could purchase this camera with a lot of money savings, over €300,- so it was a no brainer for me. Anyway ik like your'e reviewing style, you explain everything very well.
Very off topic, but anyone hear if Sony is coming out w/ the RX100 mark iv this year? Got my 70D but would also like a more compact for days I don't wanna lug my DSLR around. Thinking about the RX100iii but if the iv is coming out soon, I can wait...TIA.
One correction, t6i supports manual exposure on video mode. Aperture ISO shutter speed all controllable. I don't use top lcd ever, I don't see the need, no matter where you camera is , you have to see through viewfinders anyway, I am a minimalism, not to mention top led is distracting, you have 3 display to see the same info. I think there is no need to spend that extra 100.
Hello, I have the T6S and I use USM Lens , I use for recording , does the sync card make the different? My sync card is 1028GB / 100MS/s. Thanks for your video .
I might be wrong but doesn't the T5i have a proximity sensor? Did the T6i lose this function? Also, since the T5i was my first DSLR, I never understood the need of a top LCD. All the settings are already shown on the back LCD of a T5i during shooting mode.
T5i does have the proximity sensor. My understanding is that the T6i has lost this feature/function. Top LCD is nice when you aren't looking at the back of the camera, it is an efficient(power) and succinct look at all of your current settings. Is it a huge awesome thing? No but many professionals use it and love it.
I can't find an answer to this anywhere. The T6s does not have the AV +/- button that I use to adjust exposure compensation quickly in P mode. (The T6i does have that button.) Will there be a way to use this feature in the T6s without going into a menu?
The T6s gives you TWO dials - this is the same concept as the more advanced cameras - in manual mode one dial adjusts shutter speed and the other adjusts aperture when you are in P mode that rear dial adjusts exposure compensation - no touching a button is needed :) It's nice.
Another great review! Your roughly 10 minute videos I seem to be able to find time to watch. The 30 to 60 plus minute videos are also great, but I find that I can't find the time to watch. Can you do more 5 to 10 minute videos?
Please Tobi, on your Photo Know Hows, please explain and give tips on the following areas of photography: Landscape, Wildlife, Waterfall, Portrait, Architecture, and Car photography. Please expound on settings, equipment, filters (if any), and lenses needed for each of the above areas of photography. It would really help as I am a beginner in photography. Thanks
Hi Toby, I have t5i and 70D. The 70d is a great camera and now I have it with magic lantern and is a beast. But next year I hope to buy the GH4. Greetings, excellent review.
Toby, I would like to hear how heavier lenses such as the Sigma 50mm Art balance on a rebel series body. One of the greatest usability factors I realized after purchasing more glass was the improved ergonomics going from a SL1 to a 6D (same size as a 70D). May be an important factor to consider when deciding between a new T6i/T6s and the 70D if the person purchasing is interested in getting into some serious glass. I noticed a serious improvement in hand fatigue in my own transition, leading to a more enjoyable shooting experience.
Scott Gabrielli Partially answered on the podcast ruclips.net/video/kH9THg5WA2w/видео.html&t=6m24s (that links to podcast, not the answer which comes at the end) My partial answer was battery grip is a cheap and easy way to better balance pro like lenses on a non pro body. But I do agree that if folks are headed that way having a beefier body really helps with comfort over the long haul. Thanks!
I've been doing lots an lots of research into which camera I'm going to be getting, since my point and shoot gave up the ghost. I was all set on the T5i until this morning when I found this video on my Subscription list. Great, now I want the top LCD screen... gah which one, which one?! I'm going to have to go pick up the cameras and play with them for a while before I decide.
Qusetion I have a Canon sx50hs and am thinking about getting the new 760d as I want a DLSR . I love the fact that the sx50 has a huge zoom . But I have had it now for over 2 years and think its time to upgrade . Problem is do I get the new sx60hs or go for the 760d with a 55-250 mm STM lens . Because to get the same zoom lens for the 760d i will need to spend $2000 plus . Or do i buy the sx60hs for $500 and be happy with that . Any thoughts .......
I have my 70D which I do absolutely love. It's pre-owned but I got an amazing deal on it. I'm kind of curious to see how people recommend the T6i against the T5i, a body only T5i is like around $500 new. Which gives you ton of headroom for lenses. I'd be interesting if the performance of the 6i or 6s justify passing on the older 5i.
Kingjay814 Depends on what you are going to shoot. The focus points of the T6i/s are a definite improvement and if you find yourself(or anyone considering) shooting moving stuff more often it may be worth it. I still want to see what this new sensor is capable of before I make any serious recommendations one way or the other.
Looking foward to a comparisson between d5500 and t6s. These two only made it harder for me to decide: I'm trying to find a substitute for my old 350d. I love the canon layout and quick setup buttons, but nikons image quality is pretty good on their entry level cameras. If image quality of the new canon is comparable to nikon, that top lcd will surely make things easier for me. And theres also the 70d, but I only have interest in photos and everyone keeps saying its perfect for videos. Would you recomend the 70d for photo only?
Just an addition, the T5i as far I remember and maybe the T3i (I don't remember when I had one) has the proximity sensor, is the black rectangle above the viewfinder. Cheers.
PhotoRec Toby Oh well I thought that you were saying that was a new feature that didn't had in other cameras, my fault sorry, anyway too bad that Canon is downgrading one new camera to sell another one with a low price difference, The T6s is really a new version to the Rebel series, since the T3i to T4i the improvement was basically the touch screen and some minor changes, the T4i to the T5i update was even worse, just the wheel on top that rotated 360 degrees.
I really enjoy watching your videos. But I am still a little bit confuse. I am going to buy my first camera(never used before) . so should I go for Nikon d5300 or one of these( EOS Rebel T6s / T6i ) camera? Thank you
hello Toby. so i took your advice and purchased the 70d last week. well i guess i got a bad one. i shot hand held and on a tripod and with timer 70-200 f4l and all of the pics are soft on focus. used it on a shoot yesterday and took about 240 shots and either blurred or soft focus. i cant honestly say that its human error because my t5i pictures are tack sharp with same lens and same settings i seen your video for the t4i and t5i and thats why i bought it but i will be returning the 70d and get the t6s. wish it would of been a good purchase but i feel canon missed the ball with 70d.
I own a Canon Rebel XSi and T3i and just for the cross type af points alone is enough to sway me towards the new T6S. I think the added features justifies the added cost. Which of course isn't a lot. You mentioned something about the 70D has more weather sealing than the T6S, Does the T6S have any sort of weather sealing? I didn't read anything about it today on Peta Pixel. At the price points both bodies are being offered for 849.99 and 929.99 Canadian one would think neither has any sort of weather sealing.
***** No weather sealing with the T6S, reason I made that side comment of "more" is because the 70D isn't fully weather sealed either- not at the level of 5D Mark III or 7D Mark II at least so while it is more than the t6s (which is none) I hesitate to say it is fully weather sealed. Sorry that was round about.
PhotoRec Toby The 70D is also more solidly built than the Rebel line, unless they've upped that too with these new ones. Dropping my 600D would be perilous for the camera, dropping my 70D would be perilous to the thing it's falling on lol.
Given whats coming out soon I have my eye on either the canon 70d or the nikon d5500. I will be doing a mix of photos and vid. Should I wait for something else or get one of these? I'm a big fan of the touch screen. I can get them both for the same price so which do you recommend? Thanks!
If you want easy video the 70D is the way to go - paired with most STM lenses the focus is smooth, fast and completely silent. You also get better battery life and bitrate options for video. D5500 if you want to travel lighter and be able to use older nikon lenses.
Isaiah's Reviews D5500 has same tech as the D5300, just the touchscreen really is new. I have used the D5300 extensively and found it to be an excellent camera but it still uses that slow, hesitating focus for video. If you are shooting professionally you are not going to use autofocus so it doesn't matter but for easy pick up and go the 70D really shines.
Just found out about T6i, I was going to get one.But the T6s reminds Me of My EOS 630 and older Rebel film bodies.I like lcd screens. I till use nearly 25 year old kit lens.once in awhile.Keep the Vids coming .
Toby, sorry if my English is not so good, i am from The Netherlands and i am 60 years old. I watch a lot of your video's and i love to see your reviews. So my question is the next: I have a Canon 700D with kitlens 18-55 mm then i saw the new Canon 760D (T6s), is it worth to buy the 760D or is it better to buy a new lens? I want to shoot pictures for professional use. Thank you if you want to answer my question.
While I can't say for sure, I haven't compared the new 760D to the 700D it is rarely if ever a big improvement with one model jump. A new lens is much more likely to give you better results.
PhotoRec Toby Toby, Can you reccomend the following lenses for my Canon 700D: Sigma 17-70 mm F2.8-4 DC Macro OS HSM C and the Canon 70-200 mm F4.0 L USM? I want to make professional pictures with high quality. What i want to now is, are these lenses usable tot take quality pictures on my Canon 700D?
I think (especially in the T6S / 760D - micro focus adjust should have been in there - personally I feel all DSLR should have it). Also, the bit rate for movies in these latest canon's seems to have dropped a lot. Finally, what is up with Canon XXXD line of cameras having shrinking viewfinders. .87x (550D) .85x (650/700D) and now .82x (750D/760S).
PhotoRec Toby do you think the T6S is a worthwhile upgrade from the SL1? I originally got the sl1 because my wife liked the form factor better for her small hands but never uses it at all. I usually take photo's of my kids, cars, and my dogs. But I am also starting to do some portrait flash photos. Currently I have the kit 18-55 and pancake 40 and my next purchase was going to be a telephoto like the Canon 70-300. What do you think is a better purchase the new lens or sell my sl1 and get the T5S?
***** Moving dogs and how fast are your kids? The T6s will give you better focusing results on anything moving. Really everything else can be done with the SL1 and you could wait another release cycle before upgrading.
toby thanks for the video. im looking to upgrade/by second camera and i have seen videos saying that the 70d has problems but have also seen that the 760d is a downgrade from the 70d as far as features. witch would you choose if you do both video and stills?
***** You could probably return it and wait but honestly you paid several hundred less than the T6s costs so enjoy your savings and think about the lenses you are going to start using.
Yes, 'tis true...there's also the fact that I haven't touched "a real camera" in about 30 years...so a week is 'jess a 'tetch too short to be seriously considering an upgrade already. d;o) That and the fact that it's not a total loss either way, as I remembered every single word that mama told me not to say when I was little! d=^D I figured I'd start off easy, with an 18-55, and a 55-250. For the vast majority of stuff I used to shoot, (mainly landscapes, nature and the occasional macro) those are probably about the best "all-around" choices while I relearn how they dun messed thangz up when they switched airthang over to these here newfangled 'lectronical diihickeys an' whutnot. The stress will be worth it...as I now don't have to find out later if I've got to go back to try to reshoot something...I'ma gonna looooooove that display!
i just got my t5i last month . does it worth upgrading to the t6s? i am a videographer more than photographer but i do some photography from time to time
TDG776 I don't think so. Keep the T5i and buy a nice prime lens or two - that is going to give you way better results than just updating to the latestt body.
Will the T6i have manual video like the T5i? In your video you said that the T6i will not and that this is a downgrade from the T5i. Is this true? Has this been confirmed? Also would it be better to get a T5i with the 18-135 mm STM lens or a T6i with the 18-55mm lens? Thanks for all your help! (Btw, this will be my 1st DSLR and I plan to use it for video and photography)
DamnRandomVideos I would go for the T6s - better AF system in video, full manual control of video too. I haven't used the T6i yet but that is the word - no full manual control of video.
The focus issue in the 70D is a very isolated issue. It hasn't shown up in any other cameras that I know of and I don't expect it to be an issue in these cameras.
Hey, PhotoRec Toby, I need your advice, please. In my country, at the same price (aprox. 630 usd) I can purchase either T5i with 18-55 IS STM or T3i with 18-135 IS (no STM). I am new to photography and for me this is a tough decision. Could you help me out?
Watch this video first ruclips.net/video/Hr3EOCdj25Y/видео.html but I would probably recommend the T3i with 18-55 and spend the savings on a nice prime lens ruclips.net/video/nODUWChwfMU/видео.html
First thank you for the time you give to others & thanks for your your frindly way on your vedios I will buy my first Dslr iam not a photographer am just loving to take photo & vedios ln all occasions So what to buy 1- 700d is enough or 750d or 760d is the bitter investment to my money 2- 50mm 1.8 lens or kit lins is agood start Or something else for both in your mind
Awesome video! Compared to Sony a6000, do you think T6s offers enough of an advantage for me to upgrade (considering some specs are still better on a6000 surprisingly), or should I wait until I can upgrade to 70d or 7d? Thanks so much!
Morteza Behrooz Canon's big advantage here is lenses and sony is still working on catching up in that department - it really comes down to what type of photography you do and want to do in the future.
PhotoRec Toby Thanks! Yea I've been holding on getting new lenses for the Sony because I want to eventually invest in Canon lenses... So I guess I should get either T6s or 70d with a bundle next time I am getting a lens! You might have mentioned it in a tutorial, but do you have a good lens suggestion for astrophotography? I've heard Rokinon 12mm is good?
Morteza Behrooz I have talked about it a little in my wide angle review - my go to lens is the Tokina 11-16 f/2.8 but the Rokinon is sharp and a great value.
thanks for the video i saw this on amazon and seen the video, theirs no point getting this if it has the same things as the 70d, i just upgrade from nikon d3200 that i had for 2 years to canon 70d lens 18-135 it cost $1,690 because it came with 2 battery's a bag and a rode mic and SD card, Nikon d3200 was the only thing i could afford but still had a hard time understanding the buttons and ISO had a hard time with the auto focus it wouldn't focus on what i want it to and times i have bad pictures and the gain was so bad the pictures just look so plain and the video is crappy on the d3200 a lot of gain in the video just plain in the butt, but when i got the canon 70d omg the view finder shows you see the details and i match the d3200 and 70d next each other turn them on the picture on the 70d looks times much better on the 70d then d3200 and the focus is time much better on the 70d it focus were i want it to, and for the settings on the 70d its so easy then the settings on d3200 they tell you what they are and what they do, the video looks so rich and beautiful then the d3200 video, but i havent text the 70d video in low light yet so hope its better then d3200 at low light, down the road trying save more money get a another canon thinking 7d mark ii i would get 5dr the new one or 5d mark 3 but cost to much over 3k but looking for a lens for my new 70d so you will need a better lens to get better pictures what the best lens to get, i heard F2 stop and F1 is better then f3 and f4 if i get the 70 to 300 f4 will that give my pictures not good details any one knows whats the best lens to get i like get the 70-200 f2 but thats 2k alot of money maybe a 40mm f2
Thanks for the video, for me I love my 70d it's awesome camera and have many features of big brother 7d and the features of friendly user of Rebel cameras so it's quick and accurate focus system and the STM lens is really silent and quick light weight, i have only one problem with the camera I hope the grip was a little bigger because I have hulk hand lol
PhotoRec Toby I like your optimism, it def shows through on your videos as well. Since I got it at an awesome price I have no complaints esp since the T6i seems to have lost a couple of features. Any planned video on comparison of T6i/T6s vs T5i?
xkrnxboix They release a new camera everyday. Don't be upset because they launched a newer camera. Like Toby said, it takes good pics just like it did yesterday! Good shooting.
I called Canon customer support today (1800-652-2666) to clear up some misinformation I've heard about these 2 cameras: The t6i (750d) DOES have an external mic input. I had heard & read in several locations that it did NOT. This info is wrong. The t6i has the same AF functions that the t4i & t5i have. You can use AF during video/movie mode, but you have to manually choose a focus point & click the AF button. The t6s (760d) has a TRACKING AF servo that is new to the "t" series with the t6s. It auto-tracks the subject & adjusts focus for you. Hope this clears up some confusion :)
I was thinking of upgrading from my T3i to a better camera, ( 70D, T6i, T6s ) Im still undecided. I was comparing features on canons website, www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/cameras/slr_cameras/eos_rebel_t6i_ef_s_18_55mm_is_stm_lens_kit On the overview for the new T6i and T6s, they both have -- IMAGE STABILIZER -- , overview of the other cameras don't have this. Does this mean that the new T6i-T6s can use the old - EF lenses - and have image stabilization???? I was just curios to see that on a camera feature, if this is true it will help me decide on what camera to choose.
Thanks for posting this video so quickly Toby. I have the T5i, but from these specs, it doesnt look like i would upgrade to the T6i. Its not a big enough jump. Why does Canon advance each model so incrementally ?
TOMMYBOY6969 Almost all upgrades are incremental, just keep shooting with the T5i, keep collecting lenses that work for you and in another year or two the upgrade will be worth it.
PhotoRec Toby I know this was done a month ago. I think the AF and metering system would be a huge upgrade. I think it will be interesting to see what sensor is better? The 24MP or the 20 MP dual pixel in overall performance.
I see alot of Canon guys in the comments here, so don't flame me, but these cameras seem to be catching up to the D5300, which has 60FPS 1080p video, GPS, and is cheaper. D5300 doesn't have a touchscreen or NFC, but other than that they seem fairly similar, am I missing something?
No, not missing anything :) The D5300 is an excellent camera and the D5500 touchscreen makes it much more user friendly. What the D5300/D5500 is missing is that hybrid focus that provides decent AF in live view.
Im excited about this and a bit disappointed. I was looking forward to buy the 60D, which is an old camera, but I like the specs and its value, however, this T6s looks better, but its too expensive, Im not sure if Im going for it or the 70D or wait a little longer for the 6D. I hope Canon updates the full frame line, its about time. Anyway, I did like the upgrades, just think the T6i/T6s is bullshit, they should just make the T6s and thats it.
Great comparison. It's hard to keep all the specs/features straight. More minor incremental improvements here, and the pro bodies are getting less video features? I just wrote a massive rant and back-spaced it away. Going to bite my tongue for once, and just speak with my wallet.
Check new samsung nx500, with in $800 with lens kit, has true 4k, UHD, BSI Apsc sensor, touch screen, touch focus, xlent focus in live view, 9 FPS, Wi-Fi, NFC, Bluetooth, same image quality as nx1. Kids samsung nx1 and nx500 clearly showing middle finger to canon an nikon. Canon not understanding the market need. Nx1 and nx500 is clearly beating even canon cinema cameras (refer EOSHD site) . Shame on canon. Please Compare nx500 vs T6s.
And only a few lenses :( Seriously though the NX1 that I am reviewing now is fantastic and I expect that the NX500 offers similar impressiveness. It all depends on what you are buying a camera for- do you want to be a professional wedding or event photographer? Buying into a stable ecosystem like Canon would be the safe choice. If you are a parent or someone who likes cutting edge tech - the NX500 is a great deal.
PhotoRec Toby YEAHHH! And now the 70D price will drop even further. I'm currently planning to upgrade to a Full Frame but based on your review on the 6D im not sure. The 5D Mark III is too pricey. I was hoping the Mark 4 would release soon so that the Mark3 price would drop but I dont know why Canon is stalling...
As always great insight in two new cameras, thanks. Cannot wait to see the full review.
i always have to double the volume on your videos in comparison to almost any other video i watch
awesome video and very thorough. I am seriously considering the 70d. Currently I own a T1i and I can't wait to upgrade. By the way, your videos are very informative. Good work!!
thank you for this nice video.
cant wait to see when you'll be talking about the 5DS & R
as usual a great comparison, thanks
It's fortunate for Canon they have the brand recognition because their sensors in both their expensive and cheaper cameras are outclassed by the competition at all price points. I am hoping Canon get this sorted out because I see a lot of people griping about Canon's dynamic range and it only gets worse as the years go by without improvements.
DriveCancelled Well said.
Great comparison Toby.. Thumbs Up for ya..
thanks just bought a 70d and love it.
Very glad you gave the t6s a quick comparison to the 70d
You are very welcome Keith! I have an additional write up on the blog photorec.tv/2015/02/canon-t6s-t6i-official-announcement/
a t5i owner here, and your correct when u say spend more money on glass.
Awaiting your videos on Canon T6s and T6i after launch.
I bought the 70D last month and I thought I bought this camera too soon when I saw this video, haha. I'm glad I bought the 70D as my first DSLR. :)
can you add an external microphone to both of these cameras?
You said that the t6i has no manual control in video mode? thought it did.
Hi I am from brasil I want to upgrade my canon I have t3 I only do Still Picture no video. t6i or t6s? for me what do you say thank you
what do you get only for still picture thank , t6s or 70d
This question is unrelated to this video but how do you manage your colors from shoot to print (monitors, printer, etc)?
With these two which is better? and the price point?
Very off topic, but anyone hear if Sony is coming out w/ the RX100 mark iv this year? Got my 70D but would also like a more compact for days I don't wanna lug my DSLR around. Thinking about the RX100iii but if the iv is coming out soon, I can wait...TIA.
Sony has been very quiet lately. It is likely that at some point this year they will release an updated model but we can't say for sure.
Zeke Buf Thanks for that correction - I had learned that recently and need to add a note to the screen.
movie manual control of t6i is same as t6s?
I'm looking to use the t6i for music videos..any suggestions for lenses? other accessories?
Just bought the 760D and i love it! Im thinking about getting the 70D but i have to go to the newer 760D with new sensor and a processor.
AFTER watching your "review" with T6s ( 760 D) vs T5 ( 70 D), I now know better what to BUY for my own necessity. Thanks a lot.
Great video review.
Hello, I have the T6S and I use USM Lens , I use for recording , does the sync card make the different? My sync card is 1028GB / 100MS/s.
Thanks for your video .
Sir can u tell me a best dslr between 77d and 760d I mainly shoot pics I use dslr for wedding which one is better
I will stay with the 70D for now. If I was to buy a new camera now. I would get the GH4 for the 4k video and take photos with the 70D.
Michael Bishop Sounds like a good plan.
I will do my best. I like to talk :)
Thanks
Take some time, watch the videos in my channel - I have covered lots of those topics.
Hi Toby, I have t5i and 70D. The 70d is a great camera and now I have it with magic lantern and is a beast. But next year I hope to buy the GH4. Greetings, excellent review.
Becon Studio Thanks!
Please tell me about the difference in image quality of a still picture taken from the 70D n 760D if all other remain same like lenses, ISO etc
Irfan Rahid My 760D arrives tomorrow. Will be sharing lots more soon. Make sure you subscribe and follow on facebook.com/Digital.Photo.Recommendations
Cheers.
True - I think I say that about the T5i? It is annoying that they are removing it from the T6i.
PhotoRec Toby Thanks! Just been racking my brain since there are no actual camera in hand reviews for the nikon d5500
Isaiah's Reviews D5500 has same tech as the D5300, just the touchscreen really is new. I have used the D5300 extensively and found it to be an excellent camera but it still uses that slow, hesitating focus for video. If you are shooting professionally you are not going to use autofocus so it doesn't matter but for easy pick up and go the 70D really shines.
im new to cameras what camera is good for begginers? good picture quality and for video is so so.. $1000
Just found out about T6i, I was going to get one.But the T6s reminds Me of My EOS 630 and older Rebel film bodies.I like lcd screens. I till use nearly 25 year old kit lens.once in awhile.Keep the Vids coming .
anyone have an idea when the t6s gets released??
Asad hussain Mid April
thank you :)
Did you know that the T6i has a 12 dynamic range fstop for video.
PhotoRec Toby
Toby, Can you reccomend the following lenses for my Canon 700D: Sigma 17-70 mm F2.8-4 DC Macro OS HSM C and the Canon 70-200 mm F4.0 L USM? I want to make professional pictures with high quality. What i want to now is, are these lenses usable tot take quality pictures on my Canon 700D?
Looking forward to getting a 760D it'll be my first Canon from 35mm Pentax.
Exciting! I am curious if you considered going with pentax digital?
I think (especially in the T6S / 760D - micro focus adjust should have been in there - personally I feel all DSLR should have it). Also, the bit rate for movies in these latest canon's seems to have dropped a lot. Finally, what is up with Canon XXXD line of cameras having shrinking viewfinders. .87x (550D) .85x (650/700D) and now .82x (750D/760S).
this or 70d?
I discuss the differences of these cameras and the 70D in the video.
***** 70D.
Just got a T5i. Haven't even opened the bag with the manuals in it yet.
(snif..)
***** You could probably return it and wait but honestly you paid several hundred less than the T6s costs so enjoy your savings and think about the lenses you are going to start using.
Yes, 'tis true...there's also the fact that I haven't touched "a real camera" in about 30 years...so a week is 'jess a 'tetch too short to be seriously considering an upgrade already. d;o)
That and the fact that it's not a total loss either way, as I remembered every single word that mama told me not to say when I was little! d=^D
I figured I'd start off easy, with an 18-55, and a 55-250.
Keep the T5i and buy a nice prime lens or two - that is going to give you way better results than just updating to the latestt body.
thx for the fast reply .
which lenses would u recommend ?
TDG776 a prime lens ruclips.net/video/nODUWChwfMU/видео.html Depends on what type of work you are doing.
PhotoRec Toby I wish I could but the T6s is out of my budget. Even the T6i With 18-55mm lens or the T5i with 18-135mm lens are stretching my budget.
Tony, the Canon Website says the 70D has a 20.2 MP Sensor. Is this correct, your video said 22.3 MP?
Dwight Snead I made a typo - it is 20.2 and I corrected it with a little annotation. Are you watching on mobile?
No, I was watching on Computer.
Hey Toby! what happens with the focus issues of 70D also happens with this two rebels? thanks for you're videos ;)
The focus issue in the 70D is a very isolated issue. It hasn't shown up in any other cameras that I know of and I don't expect it to be an issue in these cameras.
thanks a lot!!! you're the boss!
PhotoRec Toby Thanks for your quick reply! Your choise is interesting, I will look at your videos and hopefully make a decision soon.
First thank you for the time you give to others & thanks for your your frindly way on your vedios

Hi Toby,
I need help.
Which is better to buy, Canon EOS Rebel T6s or Canon EOS 70D?
Thank you!
Did you watch the video? I outline the differences between these two cameras. photorec.tv/2015/02/canon-t6s-t6i-official-announcement/
Please do the same with the 5dsR I know you have done that before it was released but I'd love to se the actual facts and would love a D810 vs 5dsR :)
ProgamerEU We will be discussing the 5DS and 5DS R on tonight's live podcast. I hope to do some side by sides with the 810 in the future.
Still no headphone jack?
Wolf Pack Have you tried a battery grip? It doesn't make the grip different but does give you more to grab.
Thanks oh I really forget that solution I will try one I'm sure that's great idea , kind Regards.
I just know digitalrev is going to give us a skewed review with sexual references. Appreciate your unbiased and fact based videos Toby
Wow! you are quick... Didn't the T6i/T6s get released today?
Technically last night at midnight - enough time for me to get my thoughts together. Thanks!
PhotoRec Toby I was excited but also a little disappointed of its release because I recently purchased a T5i.
xkrnxboix that happens. Good news is - your T5i takes just as good pics today as it did yesterday :)
Shucks darn...I shudda waited to buy the T6i....oh well I love my T5i :)
Do you think the T6s is a good starting camera? Or should I go with the 70D.
So is the t6s better than the t6i?
yep.
PhotoRec Toby Thanks
I was thinking of upgrading from my T3i to a better camera, ( 70D, T6i, T6s ) Im still undecided. I was comparing features on canons website, www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/cameras/slr_cameras/eos_rebel_t6i_ef_s_18_55mm_is_stm_lens_kit
On the overview for the new T6i and T6s, they both have -- IMAGE STABILIZER -- , overview of the other cameras don't have this. Does this mean that the new T6i-T6s can use the old - EF lenses - and have image stabilization???? I was just curios to see that on a camera feature, if this is true it will help me decide on what camera to choose.
No - they mean that the kit lenses sold with the Canon cameras have IS. NO canon camera has IS inside the body. Got to go pentax for that.
that would of been a good idea.
thanks..
The Canon 70D is 20.2 megapixels not 22.2 as you state. Nice review all the same.
I corrected my mistake with a little annotation, sadly mobile viewers don't get to see annotations. Thanks.
PhotoRec Toby Nikon AF in live view sucks big time.
Stephan Eilert I do hope we see a 6D Mark II soon. It does feel like a marketing ploy to make the T6i - who is going to buy that, for just $100 more.
Great comparison. It's hard to keep all the specs/features straight. More minor incremental improvements here, and the pro bodies are getting less video features? I just wrote a massive rant and back-spaced it away. Going to bite my tongue for once, and just speak with my wallet.
Still no 4k Canon smh.
LOL - not at this level.
70d
For people like me that purchased a Canon 70D recently, this is not a good look...Could have save some funds and purchase a higher end lens...
Andrew Mckenley Are you saying you are bummed because this camera feels as good as the 70D or?
PhotoRec Toby YEAHHH! And now the 70D price will drop even further. I'm currently planning to upgrade to a Full Frame but based on your review on the 6D im not sure. The 5D Mark III is too pricey. I was hoping the Mark 4 would release soon so that the Mark3 price would drop but I dont know why Canon is stalling...
