I am a MSU fan, but I must say, Syracuse’s defense was amazing, and that was how they won.
Little premature on the jump ball/tie-up in the final seconds.
I Heard someone say that S.U.' defense is a "gimmick defense"...#1 Indiana...#1 Virginia...#3 Mich St. Final Four...Elite Eight, Final Four, now Sweet 16, and that's just over 6 year period, they are one of the top 7 wins programs in NCAA basketball, and people are still shocked when they do this year in and out. There are 350 or so div one college coaches and in my 40 years as a Cuse fan I have never heard one publicly call S.U.'s 2-3 zone a gimmick D! Just ask Williams, K, Izzo, Bennett, and especially John Thompson if it's a YMCA league D!

That lost was all on Tom Izzo.. All those 4 fouls on all Syracuse big man and all he did was just passes the ball around instead of going after them while going to the rim...Any other coach would have done that. But not Izzo. PITIFUL !!

That 2-3 is so tough. You need a big guy that can nail that mid range jumper and can pass really well out of that spot. Also your guards need to hit deep threes to extend the zone. Michigan did that so well in 2013. Mcgary hit the mid range shots and Albrecht and Burke hit real deep threes
Also, if you can get a big working the short corner it will work well.
Also, forcing turnovers helps because it leads to fast breaks before Syracuse can set up its defense

Beoheim has built Legacy on going deep in NCAA's with half the talent he had on his team since Melo D.C w/ Billy Owens, Lawrence Moten, and others. I have been watching this team forever since Big East being a NewYorker and they win irregardless of their seed or their expectation. Boehem is a winning coach just as much as IZZO if not more. No Surprise here in fact they can get to the Final 4. The match up zone Eats teams up who are not prepared and The dont have creative players to bust it up. With talent and stategy to counter it the match up zone can be destroyed with ease. The ending looked very soft for the Spartans.

Both my brother and mom went to msu and my dad grew up in syracuse. Not only that I lived not even an hour away from Detroit where the game was played. I wish I bought tickets

Looking back this was a pretty stacked MSU squad
It could’ve been MSUs best team and one of the best squads in the last 25 years had they won it all sad to see this game made this team look bad when in reality it was dominant

Since getting trashed in the 2015 final 4 vs eventual National Champion, Duke. Michigan State has reeled in some of it's best recruits ever. It for whatever reason is not translating into deep tournament runs as you would expect from an Izzo team. 2016 L in round 1 to Middle TN and two round of 32 exits since. Idk what's going on in East Lansing ?

Izzo coached great ! Nothing izzo can do when his team scores 1 point when there is 5 minutes left in second half ! Their shots didn’t go down and they missed everything ! They were better team that just couldn’t make any baskets !

MSU thinking: Let’s continue to shoot threes even though they haven’t been falling ALL GAME! These players had no logic. If you’re not making 3’s, you get to the paint. That simple. Really shows that Tom Izzo and the players have a low basketball IQ. These players have ZERO chemistry and it shows because they were reluctant to trust one another. Sari Star In their defense, SU’s defense made it extremely hard to get inside. They definitely should’ve taken it in at least just to draw fouls like what SU was doing. Then again Boeheim himself said our offensive strategy was chuck it to Battle once Howard was gone

I was so frustrated at Miles Bridges. He called for the ball then passed it back almost EVERY POSSESSION in the second half. Then he missed 3 out of the 4 shots he did take. 13 possessions without scoring is unacceptable.

Kentucky is my pick for the south side . My reasons why are because there coming in hot after a buffalo win, Alexander Is definitely feeling it getting 19 vs Davidson and 27 on Buffalo, also they are contagious in the paint and the outside . I think if they play the way they are playing they will make it to the championship, also in the South side there were many upsets so Kentucky is either gonna play UMBC or Kansas St. both teams are good , but not good enough for Kentucky (this is just my opinion please don’t judge

This game exposed MSU for what they really were in 2017-18. Frauds. Don't let that Big 10 regular season championship and fancy record fool you. They benefited from a friendly schedule to obtain those aforementioned accolades because whenever they played any tournament calibre team they lost. They went 2-7 or something of that against fellow tournament bound teams.
How could they have gone 2-7 against tournament teams when they had 4 losses total at the start of the tournament?

Tom Izzo gotta go. I love all he’s done so far but today was unacceptable. In the last 5 minutes, the Spartans came down the court and ran absolutely NOTHING on offense. They just kept chucking up 3s hoping one would fall and obviously none of them did. All Syracuse did was run a 2-3 zone and through all his experience Izzo acted as if he had no idea what to do to counter. Coaching travesty at its finest
