- dishwasher has a stretched or broken counterbalance spring, opening and closing the vertically orientated door is hard work. In addition, if a child or visitor tried to use the machine, the heavy door suddenly crashing downward could cause a nasty accident. However, unlike most other brands, if you own a KitchenAid dishwasher, you can replace the spring without having to disconnect the machine and slide it out of its recess.
Door Spring is specific to Whirlpool manufactured brands including Admiral, Estate, Inglis, Kenmore, KitchenAid, Roper, Maytag, Crosley, Jenn-Air, Hardwick, Magic Chef, Amana, Glenwood, and Caloric.
If your dishwasher is having any of these symptoms, then replacing the door spring could solve your appliance problem.
1) Broken door spring
2) Door opens quickly

The string pulling the spring to the new pulley was the bomb! Best tip on all the sites we looked at. Unfortunately for use no slack in water or electrical line, took longer to disconnect and reconnect then the repair itself. 12.00 part would have cost 160.00 if I called a repair service.
Dino it was so nice to be in the handyman zone with you today. By the way the string works. Boot shoelaces are wonderful. Your video was very helpful and my son and I did it. Although we contorted our bodies and were rolling around on the floor together
Great job & easy to follow
Thx👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks Dino. I value the 2 tips you gave. The first was using the putty knives to help lift the front legs over the vinyl flooring edge. The second to use a string the stretch the spring enough to hook the cable end. And I enjoyed your accent, too. Nobody can match a native New Yorker. I have been away from my boyhood neighborhood in the west Bronx for a long time. Take care.
Thanks for the videos. Since my dad passed away a few years ago I don't really have anyone to learn tips and tricks from for fixing various things around the house. Keep up the good work!

DINO AMAZING BRO!!!!!!
Dino, I’m replacing the springs on a kitchen aid, I looked up and know what springs they call for , but the original owner of the house put in a custom wood door and took the stainless one off…my question is you mention a more heavy duty spring for wood doors, how do I find a stronger spring since my door was custom?
Regards,
Tony
My door is making so much noise now that I’ve replaced this. Should I be lubricating something? What product should I use?
What is the part number of the string component?
Neobodeom it's neodymium
