I don't layer often but when you find two that work together it's great, plus the chance of someone else smelling like you now is basically zero. I like layering gucci guilty absolute with givenchy gentleman edp. The sweetness of the gentleman smooths out the smokiness of the guilty and brings out the cedar
Midnight in Paris edt with YSL La Nuit edt is one of my favorites. Sweet and balmy. Three sprays of la Nuit and two sprays of MIP on top of la Nuit. I always spray behind my ears and one to the chest. 3-5 sprays max with all my cologne unless it's weak summer scents
I have layering Club De Nuit Intense Man with Hugo Boss Bottled Intense for over a year now and I get a ton of unsolicited compliments!! I go heavy with Club De Nuit and lighter with the Hugo Boss. It's a great overall scent!!
Some of my favorites: • Versace Pour Homme + Allure Home Sport • Herod + Mercedes Benz Black • Spicebomb (2 sprays) + The ONE EDP • Channel AHS Edition Blanche + John Varvatos Artisan Pure
Thank you Tommy. I have been watching fragrance youTube videos for two years and this is the very first time someone has really spelled out layering for men in any detail. I have 150 fragrances but have never layered fragrances once so this video is greatly appreciated.
Thanks Tommy for the video and some ideas on how to layer. I would think the current transition between summer and fall temperatures would be a good time to try this.
From my experience, pretty much any fragrance will work really well when layered with Molecule 01, so the product intention is spot on. It adds but a minor pencil shaving, cedar-like nuance that is very pleasant, and does not clash with anything. Molecule 02 for me is not so versatile though, so I actually like layering it with Molecule 01, but not so much with other fragrances at least so far. This is of course very taste-dependent. I'm not fond of aquatics in general, but Molecule 02 allegedly works well with aquatics. Other layerings I have tried that work really well to my nose: - Houbigant Fougere Royale + Dior Fahrenheit - Zara Vibrant Leather Cologne + The Body Shop White Musk for Men - YSL Opium pour Homme + Reminiscence Patchouli Reminiscence Patchouli in my opinion is a great layering option specially with sweet fragrances. Makes them slightly more formal/serious, more mature, less playful. It can stain clothes though, so I'd say apply only on skin or dark fabrics. When layering, the proportions can make a big difference in some cases. For example Fougere Royale and Fahrenheit I can spray equally, but Reminiscence Patchouli I spray only half or less the number of sprays I use for Opium.
@@raphael9197 All of the above, it can also be used on it's own as a minimalistic scent. With respect to how much longer or stronger it might boost some other fragrances, I think safest to not expect anything miraculous.
Very good how-to video on layering. I thought at one time of layering Jovan Musk and D&G The One. Lol. But I'm not sure I will ever be that big into layering. Some people argue that a fragrance is supposed to be a singular, stand-alone art creation, and layering mucks that up.
Kenzo Homme EDP is a fragrance I've been playing around with and have gotten great results from. I have layered it with Cedrat Boise EDP and I've also tried it with Versace EDT. Both combinations are so great I can't choose which 1 I like the most. Both have gotten a ton of compliments. Another combination I use alot is any Aventus clone like CDNIM or Mont Blanc Explorer, layered with Virgin Island Water. Does really great in high heat and adds a little umph to the Aventus DNA
Just tried Mercedes club black over Cremo Spice & Black Vanilla.🔥 The deeper vanilla and incense from the Mercedes is an awesome addition to the Cremo. Adding missing notes instead of adding contrasting ones... Also, Dior homme cologne over Neroli Portofino🤤
Great video Tommy! This is the first one exclusively about layering that I've seen. One layer that I think you might like is Encore Noir and Dunhill Icon. Damn good layer!
Okay, I have a few…. Blue De Channel (Base[B]) with Polo Red, Afternoon Swim(B) with California Dream or Imagination and Ombre Nomade(B) with Nouveau Monde. Afternoon Swim also layers well with L’Immensite and Meteore….
Grest video Tommy. I layer all the time with woody fragrances. Usually with 2 but sometimes with 3. Some frags just deserve to be left alone as they are so magnificent by themselves. But layering opens up so many more options..
A strange combo I found out by accident two years ago was Zara vibrant leather cologne and Dior homme parfum. It was early fall and I was wearing the Zara but I had found a killer deal on the Dior (Bought 2 unopened boxes of first year 2014 batch for $68 a piece and one 75% for $34). So I wanted to wear the Dior and thought the Zara was gone on my skin but it wasn’t. It’s a pretty good layer. You only need one spray of the Dior to a couple with the Zara. I’m sure it would work with Dior homme cologne but I’ve yet to do that. Maybe I will try that this week.
I layer Hugo Boss Just Different and Hugo Red, by first spraying Just Different for that strong sweet scent and spraying Red after for that fresh citrus scent.
The only time I try out layering was with Creed Aventus… I bought a recent batch and sillage and projection is really poor, so I layered it with Cedrat Boisee and the result was awesome! This could be a sin for many people, but Aventus is not what it’s use to be… 🤷🏻♂️
My fav layering Tool Fragrance for this time of year is St. Barths Vanille west indies its just pure perfume oil and straight sweet caramely vanilla perfect for A thick base. 1 Combo i Love is to layer Cartier declaration Parfum on top of Vanille west indies!
I don't really experiment with layering. There's only one I do, which is Burberry Touch + Dior Homme Cologne. Makes a nice lemon tea scent that works well for me
I layerd Paco Rabanne 1 million with oud vanilla by Frank Olivier its my new favorite scent its mesmerizing for me anyway. And if you have not tried oud vanilla by Frank Olivier and you like vanilla with incense it amazing and its only like 25 dollar.
Here's another tip for the suggestion box: Sel Marin by Heeley and Virgin Island Water by Creed (or Ilsa Tropical Prive by Parfums Vintage, if you want a more lime-heavy take on Virgin Island Water). You'll smell like you've been at the beach all day drinking coconut + lime rum.😊
I have done this for a long time. It is nothing new. Simply put not any one frag has every aspect that you probably like. Any frag will be lacking in something. Or, any given frag might need a boost to stand out more. A few of my favorite mixes are Bowling Green and Guerlein Vetiver. Bowling Green doesn't have much base and is very aromatically fourgere. G's Vetiver gives it more base structure and adds more green punch. Both a great solo, but when layered...amazing. Another for the cheapies is Ventana with Iceburg Twice. Monteblanc Legend Spirit and any Aventus clone (i.e. Insurrection ll - Reyan Traditions) is an incredibly good combo and lasts for a really long time.
Has anyone else tried layering YSL bleu electrique over basic sauvage EDT (the softer newer remormulation) I'm up in the air about it idk of I love it or hate it maybe someone else can try it and post their results here
I'm not a chemist, but I once heard a chemist say, "Mathematically, layering doesn't work". Not sure of the mathematics, but when I tried layering, the mixture smelled nothing like either of the 2 fragrances.
Your hair looks good this way!! And layering is very difficult to do right

I've been interested in layering my fragrances, but never knew how to go about it. This video was very helpful. Thank you!

Great fragrance layering video and I enjoyed it and have a blessed day

MERCEDEZ BLACK ITS AN AWESOME BASE/VANILLA... I MIX IT WITH 90% OF MY PERFUMES... MY FAV MIX HACIVAT/CEDRAD BOISE !🤗😊😊
Thank you Tommy. I have been watching fragrance youTube videos for two years and this is the very first time someone has really spelled out layering for men in any detail. I have 150 fragrances but have never layered fragrances once so this video is greatly appreciated.
I like to layer ancre Noire with club de Nuit Sillage 👌
I layer my Versace PH and Chanel allure home sport. PH helps with the performance on my skin and I get more creaminess from the chanel that I love.
The creaminess was in channel is everything
I do the same lol
Thanks Tommy for the video and some ideas on how to layer. I would think the current transition between summer and fall temperatures would be a good time to try this.

Is molecule 01 just for layering or to make a scent longer and stronger??
@@raphael9197 All of the above, it can also be used on it's own as a minimalistic scent. With respect to how much longer or stronger it might boost some other fragrances, I think safest to not expect anything miraculous.

If you layer azzaro the most wanted with wanted by night you get 1 million edt

Great vid!! I currently have a base layer of Encre Noir and topped with Ed Hardy Love & Luck.
How about Encre Noir layered with Diptyque Tam Dao? Wood, wood, and more wood.
Grest video Tommy. I layer all the time with woody fragrances. Usually with 2 but sometimes with 3. Some frags just deserve to be left alone as they are so magnificent by themselves. But layering opens up so many more options..
Wearing Azzaro Pour Homme with Davidoff Horizon today.

I guess layering a winter type fragrance and a summer type fragrance. Wouldn't be so good?

Givenchy Gentleman EDP layered with Banana Republic Leather Reserve is an awesome masculine combo. At least for me.
