Here in Florence i like layering Santa Maria Novella's Tabacco Toscano with Lorenzo Villoresi's Alamut or Alamut with Merchant of Venice Venician Blue. If i want bomb intensity i will lay Alamut on Davidoff cool water intense or Savage ,the combination we have named Gian Medici's Ruspanti.
I found that a base layer of Encre Noir is magical when top layered with Acqua di Gio Armani. It creates a more fantasy, Tolkien forest smell rather than the dark, somber forest when using Encre Noir alone. And it gives Acqua di Gio a chance to be something other than a generic men's go to fragrance that everybody wears.
I have lots of baggies full of about 8-12 samples, and the combinations always smell so amazing when you open the bag. If only I could layer 10 at a time! I almost feel like combining a few drops from each into a new vile and see what happens.
A layering duo that I have been doing for about a week, is straight out of the shower, a base layer of Reminiscence Patchouli all over- let dry for at least 10 minutes, then go in with Kayali Citrus 08. The earthy base of patchouli with a sparkling citrus on top is to die for. Another combo I do in similar fashion is Reminiscence Patchouli + a very light spritzing of Montale Full Incense (a few sprays only Bc Montale goes a long way).
my favorite lately is Herod on my skin, and then Terre D'Hermes on top of my winter clothes... so my general projection is the Terre D'hermes with that awesome Citrus and Vetiver with the Flint but anyone close in or hugging theres this super warm and awesome Vanilla/musk/Tobacco Herod that just makes them wanna get closer. this is on top of my Cocoa Butter lotion and Paul Sebastian aftershave... and Balsam & Cedar Bodywash....
Wow! I just combined JM Oud & Bergamot and Pacifica's Nerola Orange Blossom, because I was "shopping my stash." It makes me so happy, and I was relieved that I wasn't the only one who loved the combination of these notes! One of my COVID hobbies is rediscovering what is already in my collection. Thanks for this content!
To echo your thoughts; Jo Malone is ACE for layering. Some of my fav combos: Myrrh & Tonka + Wild Blubell Wood sage & Sea Salt + English Oak & Red Currant 154 + Bronze wood & Leather I could honestly go on and on about the combos from my collection, but I will leve the discovery for you all to experience too!
I am layering Molecule 01 with every perfume I have in my collection I didn't like. I bought myself the new Nars one. I am layering this with Aire from Profumi di Pantteleria for a more of an sea breeze vibe.
I just got my bottle of Hundred Silent Ways and i immediately went to try out the layering combo of it and Hacivat and i must say IS IT A THING OF BEAUTY. Thank you so much for discovering this combo, really reminds me of how much i love Nishane which is already hands down my favourite fragrance house of all time.
What a great video. I began experimenting with perfume layering over the summer. I own Lanvin Oxygene and Joop Le Bain in my collection. Both perfumes are absolutely amazing! Sometimes, I layer Lanvin Oxygene and Joop Le Bain together. When combined, the perfumes marry into the most intoxicating warm, creamy, dreamy, sexy scent. I adore it. I suggest giving the combo a go 👌
Great video. Thanks. Newbie in the fragrance world here and , of course , by mistake I found that for my nose layering Tom Ford Ombre & Club de Nuit Intense EDP smells amazing. Maybe it sounds crazy but layering those help both frangrances. I now do it once in awhile when i want fresh citrus but also the leathery sweet. Cheers
I watch a beauty youtuber 'Abby Bliss White', her Tom Ford SA told her to layer Tobacco Vanille with Lost Cherry. I like it. I would imagine that TF Oud Wood could be layered with a lot of fragrances since I find Oud Wood to be a gentle oud and kind of simple. Thanks for the video!
You should do one on buying fragrances, like not just buying all and collect them all but how to have a process to find the ones you love and how to start collecting them without having to buy all at once. And how many bottles is enough etc.. you rock man!
R and R Scents Sounds amazing. I layered Silver Mountain Water with Virgin Island Water. Simply amazing. I also layered Neroli Portifino with Ja’din Amafili.
Early 2000s I mixed Pi by Givenchy and moonlight path lotion by bath & bodyworks! It happened on accident needed some lotion grabbed my sisters lotion, when my wife smelled me she jumped on me
Great video Sebastian, I layer occasionally, here and there. When I do layer, I try it out first by putting both sprayers together so I can smell the sprayers together to see if it works. Its like combining foods, it really does matter what you choose to pair together. Otherwise, most fragrances are already complete on their own, it is the simpler more linear fragrances that are easiest to layer.
Last year at Esxence I asked 2 perfumers what they think about famous combos including their creations. The first one looked at me, with disgust in his eyes, like I asked him something atrocious . The second one, also an owner said he knows it , but he did not approve it. Perfumers do feel like you're somehow butchering their work by layering, even if the result is good.
Molten Brown Mesmerisng Oudh Accord and Gold layered with Victor and Rolf Spicebomb Extreme. Imagine a darker and more mature version of Spicebomb Extreme, with elements of the fragrance profile reminiscent of Tom Ford Tobacco Oud and YSL Tuxedo.
@@mrjonathank92 so do exactly this. Do 4 sprays of sauvage, 2 on neck one on wrist and 1 in cloth. Do less if you will be in a small place like a room or a date roomBtw I do it with Prada Luna Rossa Black(basically Pradas take on Sauvage just more rounded) lmk. Its my most complimented scent after Layton
Such comments with great ideas. Thanks to all and to Sebastián for starting the conversation. I am insane and layer mostly anything but almost never on same area. Prefer to spray hair with1 or 2 and body pr clothes with a 3rd one.
Clud De Nuit Intense is a great cheapie to experiment layering with. I've found CDNI and a BR540 clone oil or Tuscan Leather clone oil applied after works well but my wife's favourite is CDNI with Blue De Chanel EDT. Give it a go 👍
I specifically looked up this video because I blind bought Rassasi Al Wisom Day Not realizing there was a prominent rose note in it. I had just gotten the bottle and I had just blind bought Guerlian Vetiver As well I was curious what federal smelled like and was not ready for the pungent earthy smell however I do like it and then as soon as I saw this video looking for something to do with Wisom's rose note, I Immediately applied GV 1st then Wisom on top and WOW! I feel I gave a winner here for me. Thanks for the tips!!
Layering Maison Margiela's At the Barber's on top of Armani Pour Homme is a favourite of mine. Both are barbershop scents but at the Barber's is more about the Shaving Foam like Lavender whereas Armani Pour Homme is more about the Citruses and Oakmoss. The two combine to give an intoxicating and more rounded barbershop scent. At the Barber's has very low sillage so the layering aids with that too.
I have two simple designer fragrances that each had strong and weak points. Mandarine Basilic has a delicious but short lived orange juice hit and Orange Mauresque has a durable but low projecting neroli. Depending on which is layered first, you get both beautiful complimentary scents with forward neroli or orange juice with 24 hour duration. Still only get a medium projection.
As someone who is over 50, my skin is much drier than it used to be. So even a strong intense fragrance has limited longevity. I’ve found that using a scented lotion or sunscreen first, then layering a fragrance over it, gives me a more lasting scent.
Our friends in the Middle East have been doing this forever. I've come up with some fun frags over the years! Yes, some I'd never try again as well. Live and learn!!
These combinations are genius. There is more information in this video than I was expecting. Thank you for sharing your experiences and serendipitous discoveries.
HEY SEBASTIAN since you mentioned Jo Malone give this a try ; I love to layer Jo Malone wood sage and sea salt with Neroli portafino aqua. It really puts the sand in your shorts. Trust me and give it a try. Also I like to add clubman or brut to the sprays bottle version of lush dirty which is a spearmint scent. They make the cologne but it’s very easy to add the clubman to the spray bottle. Just add till you like the lavender mint that agrees with you
I recently purchased Le Couvent Maison De Parfum Tinharé, and also repurchased an old perfume I hadn’t worn since my teens (now being 34), CK One (my signature scent), and have noticed that layering those two smell absolutely amazing, on my wrists - Whether it be first applying Tinharé then CK One, or the other way around 🙈☺️ However, I only need one spritz of each on my right wrist, then press the left wrist down on it, not rubbing. However, I did, on two occasions, spray on one, then wait for about 15-20min before applying the other one - Trying with CK One first, and the Tinharé the second time. But they’re obviously amazing on their own, but layering is also fun☺️ They’re both unisex, and I’ve noticed that, even though it’s always nice to mix women’s + men’s, women’s +women’s, men’s + men’s, women’s + unisex, or men’s +unisex, it’s still amazing when you can blend two unisex, which I’ve done with those two. I have a big variety in both men’s and women’s, as well as unisex, like Gypsy Water, I have Prada Luna Rossa Sport and Acqua di Gió, and if you have a nose for it, you can mix Acqua di Gió with some oriental ones, with which I have. I’ve always been lucky in my layering, never having messed up on which ones that smell amazing, mouth-watering even🙈 I absolutely LOVE Aventus, btw!🥴 I purchased their scented candle, and never light it (ok, ONCE) but lift off the gold like lid that covers the top, and smell the lid 🙈 And for the next minute, my mind just wanders off to the Land of Fragrances 🙈
Thanks for this vid! Been wanting to hear your thoughts on this very topic and voila, here it is! Will try a rose-vetiver layering with the perfumes I have. One scent I really like layering with many others is Tempo by Diptyque, to give any fragrance a deeper, herbal patchouli nuance. Tempo and Kedu work well together, for example. Keep these videos coming!
great video! i currently wear philosykos (edt) by diptyque (one spray all over) and add a touch of jo malone’s wood sage & sea salt on my pulse points to brighten things up a bit 😊
After watching this I did some experimenting of my own. Many of my attempts didn't work too well. The only success was Bleu de Chanel PARFUM with PDM Layton. Layton rules the opening and both dry downs are soft enough to compliment each other really well.
so i purchased zara’s rich/warm/addictive today and it lacked the tobacco/smokiness i really wanted so i decided to layer with oud bouquet lol which i know you said you don’t recommend layering oud fragrances but ON MY SKIN they smell amazing together. i always crave more sticky sweet notes whenever i wear oud bouquet (i’m an intense gourmand gal) and that’s what i get from RWA so the two go really great together on me for an extreme sweet, rosy, oudy moment ☺️
I think it makes sense to layer those two together. I think what I was saying is that two ouds together might not make sense to layer together but glad this worked out for you! :)
For combos I use By the Fireplace to Montale Ristretto Intense Cafe or Bond 9 I love NY for All. Sweet Smoke from Alexandria Fragrances I layer with perfumes too simple or sweet for a nice smoky touch. Still searching for a good incense perfume to layer with scents. 👍😎
I've started layering Jungle L' elephant by Kenzo with Black Cedarwood and Juniper by Jo Malone. Not sure yet if it works but I think it tones down the sweetness from Jungle. Great content! Greetings from Greece!
Right now I’m trying to Frankenstein TF Neroli Portofino. I’ve got pretty close with the basic clean scent of Myth and Replicas Under the lemon tree…it’s not sweet enough for me though so it’s a work In progress
I’m a new subscriber!! Tried mixing my Le Labo Santal 33 with Byredo’s Black Saffron and will see how that wears throughout the day. Rediscovered my love of creativity through fragrance thank you!!! 🤎
You better BELIEVE I was gonna watch this video! For me, it was a combo of logic and trial and error. Most of the time, you can figure out what goes with what - citrus and greens/florals/woods, coffee and gourmands, florals and musks, spices and woods/ambers, woods and ambers/vanillas, etc - but sometimes the weirdest combos somehow work out. Just recently did L'eau Boisee with Spice and Wood. 👍 Essentially a perfect blend of apple, lime, pepper, grass and smooth woods. Like you said, I wouldn't recommend layering dense or 'full' fragrances, unless you dilute them yourself (which is more blending than layering). Blending is a whole different ball game though and far more challenging. Appreciate the vid Seb!
Yeah!!!!!!! This is what means richness.... mix fragrances on yourself...... great art. My way...... oud wood as base and noir por femme as leyer..... try!!!!)))) So amazing)))) never the less they are great in themself alone
Which are the best pulse points when winter layering with fragrances in separate locations of the body? (Since there is less skin exposed;) Should you apply the stronger scent behind the neck and the less dense fragrance behind the ears/side of neck?! Thank You!
Hunter Bautista That sounds delicious. I layered Amouge Journey Man with Mont Blanc Individual. That combo really gave me a TF Tuscan Leather vibe. Very nice.
Nemat amber oil and alien by Thierry mugler is my new fav! Seems like it wouldn’t make a difference but I’ve had people stop me at work and ask what perfume I’m wearing ! My own little secret, I’ve never told anyone my full mixture :) anyone who’s never tried it I suggest it!
Kiehl's musk (1 spray) with Montale Aoud Musk (1 spray) on top is really nice. To add a little more of a woody base I use Aramis New West with Tobacco Vanille on top or Dolcelisir on top. Good combo's for me.
I'll tell you there's so many fragrances to be combined so beautifully that it is meanless to start mention here! But after a while everyone will find the signature scent for each and every day and occasion, I promise that!
Try blending Muglers Ultra Zest with the L'Instant de Guerlain pour Homme Eau Extreme , two sprays each on either side of the upper and lower neck, the orange tanginess of Ultra Zest goes well with the LIDGE macho cacaoness .
Hello! I have discovered your channel not long ago and really enjoying every video you make. My favourite combo Mancera Aoud Lemon Mint + Nejma 5. It reminds me of Xerjoff - More than words but on a very soft side, not so cloudy but very intense either 👍
I enjoy layering Pure Malt on top of Molinard's Vanille Patchouli. The result smells almost like a boozy, earthy, dark chocolate. Since my newer formulation of Pure Malt is not a beast (the Molinard is also fairly soft), the layering gives it more legs in terms of performance.
What's your take on doing one frag on one hand and another on other hand rather than one on top of other. That combination should also smell good on air. Cheer's
Please review Ex nihilo “French affair “ , if you haven’t tried it I’m sure you will love it! Great oak moss, Vetiver and patchouli! The best thing I’ve smelled lately...

I smell so amazing now... Just came from a department store, tyring out many fragrances. I'm feeling the headiness of all the great perfumes.
Rose D’arabie and Grand soir. Heavy but smells like romance.
B4540 with grand soir works too.
I love layering and creating my own mini-masterpieces! So much great info here. Thanks so much!
You're welcome, thank you! :)
Encre Noir and Declaration D'un Soir smells like a literal garden :)

As for designer scents for layering, I find Chloè Nomade Absolu and Narcisso Rodriguez for her can be layered nicely with other fragrences ;)

Molecule 01 with Dior Homme Parfum........BEAST MODE!!!!!!!
Molinard Patchouli with Giorgio Beverly hills for men....BEAST MODE!!!!!
Omg I’m going to give that a try even tho I think DHP is perfect on its own. 😄
Cedrat Boise + Ambre Sultan is my TOP layer ever. Compliments every single time i wear it.

Great content! Greetings from Greece!
I layered Bleu De Chanel Parfum & Prada L’Homme. Hella good 💥🔥
I love long videos when they have a lot of content, as yours do. 👍🏼
Thank you Rebecca Arnold! :)
Amouage Jubilation XXV 3:1 Robert Piguet Casbah 🔥🔥🔥❤️
Right now I’m trying to Frankenstein TF Neroli Portofino. I’ve got pretty close with the basic clean scent of Myth and Replicas Under the lemon tree…it’s not sweet enough for me though so it’s a work In progress
already coming out with the 2 $400 perfumes 😭
Love watching your videos.
I know you like Vanilla vibes and also Not a perfume.
However try to layer them together and you'll get the perfect combo💜
I'll try this one for sure! I'm sure it will be great! :)
I just layered a fresh rose with encre noir extreme and its 👌 loved the layering recommendations
Can I layer jo Malone with Iso e super or ambroxan like essential molecules 01 or 02?
Trying angel nova with flowerbomb today- love it so far 🤩
I like dark amber and ginger lily body cream with poppy and barley fragrance from jo Malone. I find them unique.
I’m a new subscriber!! Tried mixing my Le Labo Santal 33 with Byredo’s Black Saffron and will see how that wears throughout the day. Rediscovered my love of creativity through fragrance thank you!!! 🤎
Guerlain L'Homme ideal edt. One million Lucky
That’s awesome!!!
Yeah!!!!!!! This is what means richness.... mix fragrances on yourself...... great art. My way...... oud wood as base and noir por femme as leyer..... try!!!!)))) So amazing)))) never the less they are great in themself alone
Thanx man...it's amazing. .I've did the combo Jo Malone oud et bergamot and orange blossom two weeks ago and waoooooo...I confirm..it's explosive ..
THAT'S AWESOME!! Love it when it turns out great!! :)
Wow I have to borrow back my oud and bergamot from my son and try these two!
Update: 8/12/20: Jo Malone Orange Blossom + Oud And Bergamot. I have to play with the nimber of sprays for
each frag. It’ll work though👍🏾
Gotta try aventus with layton and lost cherry with naxos... magical
That’s a lot going on! Whoa
Which are the best pulse points when winter layering with fragrances in separate locations of the body? (Since there is less skin exposed;) Should you apply the stronger scent behind the neck and the less dense fragrance behind the ears/side of neck?! Thank You!
Tried with Intense cafe and TF oud wood. It was very nice.
i tried dareej and encre noire.i love the test combo.
Layered Guerlain L'homme Ideal Cologne with Aramis Tobacco Reserve from a comment on another vid to a wedding and worked wonders 😎
Hunter Bautista That sounds delicious. I layered Amouge Journey Man with Mont Blanc Individual.
That combo really gave me a TF Tuscan Leather vibe. Very nice.
First time I see you without the cap😊. Looking good!
Parfums de Marley Kalan and Pegasus Exclusif layered are 🔥🔥🔥
OOH!
I layered Pineapple Vintage + Bvlgari Wood Neroli
Try also Mont Blanc explore+ Bvlgari wood Neroli
Creed Aventus + Bvlgari wood Neroli
Cloud de Nuit Intense + Bvlgari wood Neroli
What about honey? Is it a versatile base note?
A great springtime and summer layering is Guerlain Vetiver and Hermes Le jardin de monsieur li. Just amazing.
Have been waiting for this video since I discovered your channel, Sebastian, thank you! 😉😉😉
Wow the way you just describe d those fragrances is magical
Thanks Sebastian! Excellent suggestions, and sparks ideas to experiment with my own fragrances. Cheers!
Thank you for the video☺️ Do you think BR540 layers well with TF Oud Wood and have you tried it?
Sadly no think that might clash! It just might be too overwhelming! 🥲
What's your take on doing one frag on one hand and another on other hand rather than one on top of other. That combination should also smell good on air. Cheer's
Try aventus and molecule 01 and godolphin by pdm and another one lost cherry and bac 540 wow!!!
Please review Ex nihilo “French affair “ , if you haven’t tried it I’m sure you will love it! Great oak moss, Vetiver and patchouli! The best thing I’ve smelled lately...
