I recently bought a Violin online from a trained professional Violin Maker (I will not reveal the name for obvious reasons). When it arrived and I opened it up, all I needed to do was remove the bits of bubble wrap that had been carfully tucked in place to help the bridge not to fall over, and then just tune it up. It was already perfectly set up and the strings were only a little out of tune. It is a truly wonderful instrument. If I could afford to buy an Edgar Russ Violin, I would come to Cremona and try out a few of them and then pick the one I like the best, but as it is I am happy with the one I just got (which is a good thing, because that is all I could afford).
Thank you for your kind words! I'm glad you find the content valuable. If you have any questions or topics you'd like to explore further, feel free to ask. Happy to help!
Should all the string lengths measure 328, G as well as E? Or just the D and A? Would the bridge curve make the string lengths slightly different? How can I be sure the bridge is on straight is the f hole notches are not the same? It's hard to eye ball it perfectly.
If the length from the beginning of the mold to the F-hole is 193 cm, this means that the size is not correct. What should I do in this matter? Should I take a measurement of 195 cm and put the bridge without paying attention to the measurement, or what? Can this be explained? Thank you.
As I mentioned in the video, not all violins have the notch on the F-hole corresponding exactly to the 'diapason' point. This is especially true for Guarneri-style violins, where the notches can be in different positions. However, don't worry! Simply position your bridge according to the measurement I provided (195mm) without relying on the notch on your violin's F-hole 🎻😉
Very clear and to the point :)
Thanks Edgar for you valuable tips and helping us amateurs get it right !!

Very good thank you
Edgar, what would the measurement be for a 7/8 sized violin for perfect placement of the bridge?

@@EdgarRussThank you, Professor Edgar. You are very wonderful and your channel is very useful. Stay well.❤
195mm including or excluding the overhang of the soundboard?
The measurement includes the overhang of the soundboard 😉🎻
Great video. I like Edgar's sense of humour! His business card is better than yours...etc, lol.
Haha, glad you enjoyed the video and my sense of humor! 😂
