I really needed to hear this episode. I'm currently on a gap year and have this pressure from my family to be doing a lot because I have the time to do so, but honestly I needed a break from education to work on myself and figure out who I am as a person. Also, I needed to detach my academic success from my identity and this episode was a great reminder for all of this, so thank you Jade.

Thanks very much for this! Achievement is great if it's genuinely making you happy but yes all of this. I realised that it's not that I don't 'want' to be exceptional, it's that it's not worth it. Not for me. It's really hard to fight the pressure to always 'work harder'. But after an eating disorder where I was in the worst state of my life whilst 'achieving' so much, I realised I would rather lead a 'C grade' life and be happy, than be 'A*' and miserable. I saw a man get a packet a peanuts out to feed a pigeon the other day before he popped into the charity shop. Made me so happy and I thought 'that's casual magic' :)

My casual magic of the week: a friend came into the room I was in at uni working on a presentation and I was super annoyed but I didn’t tell him he was distracting me when he asked if he was disturbing me and that was so great because he actually gave me some really great advice and motivation and reduced my stress around the presentation.
What went well? I recently moved and this week managed to unpack all the boxes for my room and organise (almost) everything in my room
What challenged me this week: I was a little ill this week so focus wasn’t great and everything took longer than it usually would and I was so annoyed
    Intention for coming week: self-compassion

for any fellow neurodivergent friends, i recommend a variation of the pomodoro technique called sporadic stimulation. for the 25 minute working period, you have chosen and set up 5-10 different tasks; work, hobbies, home care, self care, anything. as soon as you notice yourself leaving that state of mindful engagement (you might be irritable, frustrated, dissociating), switch tasks. instead of forcing yourself to do a task start to finish, you're getting things done in a way and at a pace that serves you.

i feel so connected to you jade.I've been following you since you were a study youtuber. As a perfectionist who likes studying and work and to do list (and struggles with burnout) this episode directly addresses me and i'm grateful that i'm still 17 and that i'm hearing your experience before my final year in highschool.Thank you jade.

Just was recommended this channel/podcast! Such a lovely podcast idea! Thanks for using your voice to inspire, create light, and provide thoughtful, attainable advice. Morgan Harper Nichols has an affirmation/quote that is " I am making room for things that heal by heart." I have been watching self-care videos on RUclips by Diane in Denmark her video 3 ways I organize our Danish home - hygge baskets, where she talks about having a self-care basket, reading basket, and snack basket, Cozy K videos about cozy hobbies, and Mariane Cresp videos about self-care. The pomodoro is great, I prefer longer segments like break after 40 minutes! Love the idea of quick workouts, some RUclips quick workouts I like are Leslie Sansone Walk at Home video walk 500 steps now, and Gina B from the channel Up to the Beat Fit 5-minute dance walking workouts

This video came at the perfect time for me - I have just finished my first term of my Masters degree and being a musician, there is so much pressure to be busy as you never know when you'll have your next "lull". Thank you so much for making this🥰🫶🎶🌻🌻🌻
