Yes, very Nordic...Sissel is Norwegian and she sings in Swedish here. I think is fair to say that Sissel is THE voice of Norway, being a soprano-crossover style icon. She has been touring stages of the world for four decades now, and her natural and etherial voice has captivated millions. One personal favorite is her singing "You'll never Walk Alone" in Oslo Spectrum 2002, so that one would be really nice, please.
Great reaction video of the Norwegian national treasure Sissel. Check out her performing "You'll Never Walk Alone": ruclips.net/video/wvRYOLw5WGE/видео.html
if you like her voice you should check out "Warren G & Sissel - Prince Igor" which is a collaboration where she sings russian opera, combined with Warren G rapping
This is Sissel Kyrkjebø, she is Norwegian and has been singing her whole life, she became famous at the age of 18. The last two verses was in swedish. The first video of her I could find is this ruclips.net/video/g9MOpWZgB-Q/видео.html
First on TV at 13, she went professional at 16. Singing the Olympics, and the Eurovision interval 1986, put her on the music map. Also Titanic movie score. and Tabernacle concerts helped.
Wow! She actually pronounced "Syne" correctly! I get really piss*d off with people ( usually English or American), singing "Zyne". It really annoys the hell out of Scottish people.
She sings mainly in English and Norwegian, and has also sung songs in Swedish, Danish, Irish, Italian, French, Russian, Icelandic, Faroese, German, Neapolitan, Māori, Japanese and Latin.
There are only about 100 000 people that speak it, since it's estimated that half the faroese population live outside of faroe islands and the population of Faore Islands is about 50 000.
Even Faroe Islands have one. I only just literally went on a spree of information finding on yt that ended me here, after starting with Walk off the earth and Lukas Graham's love you right, to only now finding out that the original chord progression and song was called auld lang syne and was from scotland xD.
Thank you for reacting to Sissel Kyrkjebø. She is norwegian, but is singing this song in swedish. I hope you will continue to react to her in the future! 🤩

Norwegian. I'm Scottish & it's so nice & refreshing to hear someone sing this in their own language & making it relevant to their audience instead of borrowing & usually butchering the Scots language. She's an amazing artist. This was a stellar performance. Rabbie Burns would be proud that his songs spanned not just the years but crossed the globe. Happy New Year x
Thanks. I don't speak either language, so I assumed it was Norwegian. I still think it's great to hear Auld Lang Syne sung in a language relevant to the audience tho (I'm assuming it's a Swedish speaking audience, sorry if I'm wrong again). It's a great old song, with a great message, but I've never understood why singers don't change the verses into their own language, or into a language the audience understands. I just think it makes it more relevant & conveys the meaning better. I love Sissel & whatever language she sings in it's always lovely to hear.
"Du är den ende" , it's a Swedish song but she does it perfectly. But I think it's 40 y old, so even I have hard time finding it. The song translates to you are the only one, and it is haunting.
I was a music snob until I came across Sissel. She has introduced me to lots of music I probably would never have listened to. I am a better listener for that.
i've been a fan for a decade or so....she sings EVERYTHING superbly she does oh holy night in Norwegian and render me into a pool of tears I could sorta match the words to the words but that was secondary.....hearing her in her native tongue is special
Don't know if you are aware of Sissel's voice throughout the entire TITANIC movie soundtrack. Sissel's voice is heard in those 'wordless' arias that you hear throughout the movie. Her voice was known as the 'Sound of TITANIC' Sissel was also supposed to sing "My Heart Will Go On" but after a bungled deal by the management, they went with a Sony artist and Celine Dion recorded the song. In the 3D presentation of the Movie years later, Sissel sang "My Heart Will Go On"
Sissel Kyrkjebø - she's Norwegian. And so loved. O mio babino caro woll blow your mind. Just google her - tons of stuff. He Shenandoah is heartbreakingly beautiful.
This commntary happens to be that of a well-formed vocal amateur What's more he should have mentioned the extraordinary refined technique ( though acquired without being taught !!! ) And her magnificent expressions and scene demeanour , her kind smile , her gentleness . In short , she IS The Art Of Singing , so rare with even great voices !!! r ART of Singing ness . ryery
She sings “Pie Jesu” beautifully - of course, but what I only recently discovered is that Marie Osmond also sings this song, along with “Ave Verum Corpus” on her album entitled “I Can Do This “. I was blown away!! Please react to these two songs by Marie. 💜💕💜💕
Mr mrl boyd happens to be a excellent judge of the Art of Singing . His commentary is perfect . He is a true connoisseur . Thanks , mrl Boyd ! Alain Diagre from Belgium
So much good Sissel out there. A remarkable singer by any standard. She has limited her fame by her principles and personal tenets so lesser talents are better known.

I second this.
Best opera I've heard.
I just wish I had a version with just Sissel singing it.

Sissel’s voice is so beautiful. I would recommend listening to Ready to Go Home.
I highly recommend her "Like an angel passing through my room" and "Slow down" both with the Tabernacle Choir 🤩🤩🤩
I agree fully.
I'm Scottish, I never knew countries had their own version but Scots is pretty much English mixed in with Scottish dialect.
Even Faroe Islands have one. I only just literally went on a spree of information finding on yt that ended me here, after starting with Walk off the earth and Lukas Graham's love you right, to only now finding out that the original chord progression and song was called auld lang syne and was from scotland xD.
In parts of Denmark it is often yoused as " goodbye" Song after a family gathering.
I love Sissel's "Pie Jesu" "Lær meg å kjenne" "Mitt hjerte alltid vanker" "O Mio Babbino Caro" and "Sofđu unga ástin mín"
I agree to Sissel’s version of Pie Jesu. Just the most beautiful piece someone can ever hear. Her voice is so pure and effortless
Thank you for reacting to Sissel Kyrkjebø. She is norwegian, but is singing this song in swedish.
I hope you will continue to react to her in the future! 🤩
Absolutely beautiful voice. Swedish sounds so nice in this!

See sang this in Sweden & sung the last two verses in Swedish.
Check out Warren G and Sissel, Prince Igor. She also sang in the movie Titanic. Good reaction Mr. 👌🏻😊💖
And also on Lord of the Rings
I have her album entitled “Sissel - De Beste (1986-2006)”. It has 40 of her greatest recordings on it. I love every one of them.
She is norwegian, but in this song she sings in swedish
She sings in English.
That was absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing that.
Lovely ~~ Thank you so much for sharing. Happy New to You, Your Family & Your Fans! ~Wind
Keep up the amazing work. I greatly enjoy all you content. Love your reactions and how you truly appreciate music.
So nice to see Mr. L Boyd genuinely smiling in a video compared to some of the crazy stuff he's subjected to in most reactions loool
Norway, but you already know that. WHEN A MAN LOVES A WOMAN.
Could you react to another song by Sissel? "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" is one of my favourites.

@@joachimengen9149 I was just about to say the same. It sounds pretty simulare to Norwegian tho, at least if you don't speak the language yourself.
@@TS84NO they sound pretty similar even if you speak the languages, the spoken languages are barely more different than accents in English.

Sissel has a great haircut. She looks wonderful as it opens up her radiant face.
You probably won't be surprised to find out she's a Norwegian singer.
