This song is so beautiful!! Thanks for the reaction! If I remember right, this song is about how Jin didn't know how to sing or dance before he joined BTS (he learned it all once he became a trainee), so he's talking about how he didn't think he could reach high places like the other members because he lacked skills. But our world wide handsome has everything he needs to touch the sky now!

Jin had insecurities being among such talented members when he had no previous experience. He struggled with dance and never truly felt he had a deep enough love for music. He talks openly about not enjoying doing this in the beginning. It was once he got a taste of Army’s love and devotion that he decided to give it his all. That being said, for a long time he never believed he could reach the heights of the other members. I’m sure that feeling was hard considering he was the oldest and in a way had to put his pride aside. Still he chose to run a bit longer, try a bit harder and eventually shone just as bright as the other 6 petals he held so lovingly in his hand. 💜

Jin was the first of the vocal line to be signed. Woth his and JKs addition, they committed from being a rap group to Kpop.
They signed him for his looks despite not having a musical or dance background. He is literally the fave that changed it all!
He had to find his place and purpose within the group. He struggled and he only persevered because of his brothers and his unique beautiful heart, that lives in the moment and pushes those doubts aside. One foot in front of the other. His motivation and outlook was what their group needed.
He said that he’d probably be an unsuccessful actor if he had continued on his path. But, BTS pushed him to work hard, if not for himself, for them. And then for himself. Then for ARMY.
Their honesty and vulnerable words are as powerful as their talent. He worked hard to get here
On the polaroid pictures at the end of the video, they represent the other six members. From left to right it's RM, J-Hope, Jimin, Suga, Jungkook and V.
The fact that he blows the roof off singing a song about waking up to the fact that he may never be as good as the other six kills me. “Wide awake, wide awake don’t cry” brings tears every time. You need to see the live version.

Jin was so insecure before. Even when he is already in BTS, his confidence level is still so low. But he's holding on and fighting to become better because of the other members. Personally, I find Jin's songs so beautiful and his voice is my favorite. I love all seven, but there are other solo songs that are not my taste. But I love all Jin's solos and he's not even my bias.
This song always reminds me of an early concert where they were doing the ending Ment, the end of concerts where the guys just talk for a while to Army (a truly important part of BTS concerts and their relationship with Army). He started tearing up crying because his parents were there and “my mom used to never have anything to share with her friends about me and stayed silent as they bragged about their kids but I hope because of BTS she can now be proud of me” it was utterly emotionally devastating. This song for me embodies that emotion. Wings is amazing!
You have to see the song awake but live your voice sounds better than in the studio
Awake is a song that talks about him since he had a difficult time since he entered without experience in singing or dancing like the other boys, the petals represent the other members of BTS who for them He didn't give up

Thanks guys for delving into the BU and although late, it's nice to see new fans as they also start along this journey. Don't allow others to flame you guys or tell you what to do or what not to do, as BTS means something different to all fans. It's what makes them great because we each have our biases and Jin is mine!
I first found BTS after watching the news that a South Korean band had made history at the AMA in 2017. I watched it and was impressed at how they sang, rapped,and danced at the same time so effortlessly and in synchronization while constantly changing formations. It was something so totally lacking from American music for 20 years. I hated hip hop and rap but have changed to at least appreciating it, but will not go out to buy other artists, i am satisfied with just BTS member's songs or collaborations.
This Wings album accentuated each member's talent and gave us what you never see from any other group of artists. The focus on different styles, genre, and the effort that BIGHIT and each BTS member put into this was above what other artists or their record label or company were putting out. These are movie quality and short films, and the actors are the BTS members themselves.
My interpretation of Jin's Awake is how he was selected as a member just by his looks while getting off a bus. Talent unknown, yet he had to learn how to sing and dance, and when he raps is so funny and yet it is what makes him so endearing and why he is my bias. He tries to do what is needed!
I knew that Jin being the oldest would probably be the first to enter his mandatory military requirement, and saw in these lyrics his time when he would have to leave the group.
Like their very first debut video No More Dreams, their song Run and their constant portrayal of them running to compete against other Kpop groups to get ahead, their now busy schedule of flying to many concerts, events and shows.
Jin's verses says how he still wants to dream, the crying and laughing they all endured throughtheir careers, he still wants to run, he still wants to fly, but he can't because his fate requires him to do military service.
I am waiting till they all finish their mandatory service when they can continue to dream, run, laugh, cry and fly together again! BTS 2025!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JIN!!!
Jin joined as a BigHit trainee at age 19, when he was spotted, because he was good looking, getting off a bus at his university. His main job was main visual, as he NEVER danced or sang!!!! He had NO vocal training or dance experience; he just had his looks!!!! With 18 months of training, he debuted with BTS. He is now know to have silver vocals, and is known for his signature triple high notes in his songs! Epiphany, the live version, is beautiful. Also, there is a live performance of Crystal Snow, where a fan isolated his triple high note. OMG, it was a stunning live performance by the entire group.
Ohher fabulous Jin songs - Moon, Abyss, and The Astronaut (which was a collaboration with Coldplay). The full live performance of The Astronaut, with Chris Martin's introduction of Jin, is a beautiful testament to the unifying power of music!!!!!

Art is subjective, but you have to read between the lines. This album was based on Demian's book. This book talks about how Emil Sinclair separates his family as good and the outside world as something bad that corrupts, as he grows up he realizes that he is being corrupted so he longs to be like his family nucleus, the flower that we see in the BTS videos represents That, morality, values, and the apple, temptation. In the book Emil meets Demian who instructs him to put these two parts of himself together, like the ying and the yang, without one the other does not exist. And Demian teaches abraxas (the god of good and bad ) to Emil and we can see that abraxas appears drawn on the wall in this video and on the short film#3 V is writing with a screw “abraxas” Wings talks about all of this. Jin is the main character, the physical person and everyone else represents parts of him, which Jin hates or hides. At the end we move to LOVE YOURSELF where he must love every part of himself, and the members represent that. All of these albums are even based on the psychoanalysis of Carl Jung. The Blood sweat and tears talks about how you can give everything about yourself (Blood, sweat and tears) to not fall in the temptation, but at the end the temptation is so big that you know that you will fall.

I don't officially know what the song is about, but Jin always said he was kind of afloat in life with no real goals before he got added to BTS. And he struggled a lot because he didn't have a music background. He literally was discovered on a bus and asked to join the company because of his looks 😂😂 And obviously they all struggle to survive in the beginning as a group. So, this feels like all of that to me. Him holding on tight to BTS for dear life because it's all he has right now and it's important to him. He doesn't feel like he can make it and be good enough, can't fly, but he's not letting go either and wants to keep trying and working for it. I love Jin. Beautiful voice. His live performance of this is also amazing. I think when there's no MV, you guys should find the live performance versus lyric videos. Just a thought!

"The latest short film, AWAKE, marks the beginning of this true journey towards Abraxas and starts off in the best way possible: "The bird fights its way out of the egg. The egg is the world. Whoever wants to be born must destroy a world. The bird flies to God. That God's name is Abraxas" (Hesse 2012: 117). While the quote is from Chapter 5 of Demian, it depicts the process that Jin undergoes in the short film to finally be one with himself. AWAKE compiles all the short films and conveys the common message of all of them ("I had no dream" (1:16)) and the feelings that linger from The Most Beautiful Moment in Life ("we cried and laughed a lot, but everything was so beautiful" (2:25)). "I was in a position where I was the only one left, watching over the others, so I tried to portray the sadness and loneliness." (Ktaebwi 2017), Jin explains in the "WINGS Concept Book," and indeed, this feeling is well portrayed. Like Sinclair at the end of the novel, Jin finds himself alone: "The process of individuation, finally achieved, coincides with the end of the novel.
