Spent 23 years in the US Navy serving on Submarines. Spent Christmas on patrol seven of those years. This was my favorite Christmas song. At 85 I still listen to it a lot around Christmas time.

I love Michael's music, as he and Harry Connick Jr are those who introduced me to jazz and big band. Michael is now a staple in my house at Christmas, singing these, and so many other songs, so beautifully.

Never felt the true meaning of this song until this year. In the army, and was told I couldn't go home for Christmas this year. I miss my son, especially this time of year.
The usual christmas before the pandemic is filled with frantic shopping, hectic church schedules, just stress all-around. I'm not saying this pandemic is a good thing, not at all, because it's not. But maybe for the first time in years, I'll be having a much calmer holidays, just a slow moving days of freedom. Finally, I can breath a long sigh of relief.

The original lyrics are "Presents on the tree.." Back in the day (when this song was composed) people would have presents in and on their tree. Other places too, but that's the way it was written. It doesn't make it a worse song though. Always been one of my favs

This is the first year in all 10 years living overseas( from the US) that I haven't been able to see my family for the holidays. But even before this year this songs has always made me sad thinking about it's origins, soliders a long way from home during WWII.
