Nespresso Vertuo Plus Descale Workaround - How to fix stuck red yellow light

  • In this video we show you a method to remove the stuck red / yellow descale light on the Nespresso Vertuo Plus machine.
    PLEASE NOTE: This machine already went through the descale process two FULL times with the descale solution and rinse out and still showed the descale warning light on completion. Therefore for the purpose of this video and we have used pure clean water.

    Thank you for the tips!…It also works if you just disconnect the tank to stop the descaling instead of waiting to finish through the water.

    You are an absolute godsend. I just got a new machine since my last one was stuck with a red light, had to throw that one away. Now two days after getting my NEW one and it got stuck in descaling mode. I was about to use a third package of descaling solution when I found your video!     YES!!!!! Thank you. I did it with cleaner a couple times. Then been doing the full descale process with plan water all weekend to no avail . Finally got a good cup of coffee.

    I cannot thank you enough, this fixed the issue I was having and along with others I was ready to give up totally!!! You need to be on the actual nespresso site because you covered everything so clearly. I love the no waffle presentation style. Clear, concise and it actually worked!!!!!     Thank you so much! I bought two packs of descaling solution and ram the cycle multiple times. That light would NOT turn off. This was tje only bideo that helped.

    This worked for me, thank you!!! We descaled our VertuoPlus machine, then based on the prompts it seemed like we didn't do it right so descaled again. Exited the descale mode but kept getting the red/yellow light. Apparently our machine was stuck in descale mode. We could still make coffee but it was always very bitter, almost sour. I noticed the machine seemed to be running extra hot too... Your fix was perfect, thank you! We have smooth tasting Nespresso again!

    Wow. Thank you for this, I was about to lose hope. I think there are a few different revisions of this silly machine, some that stop automagically, and some that require manual input (like ours) Again, thank you.
    Also, I used vinegar to clean it as I always have with coffee makers, but it sounds like you're supposed to use lactic acid, or citric acid descalers.

    I've got one of the original Nespresso machines but was thinking of buying a Vertuo machine as I've found the coffee to be better when I've used it in a hotel. But the more I learn about Vertuo the more I think I'll not bother. I believe it was only introduced because the patent on the old pod design had run out.
