It was much more than just talent - there are all kinds of singers with talent. This guy had a polished and totally flawless vocal technique. And having studied and majored in voice as a music major in college, I should know flawless vocal technique when I see it.

sometimes not winning these things is the best thing to happen people -- more freedom to negotiate/contracts, etc. you're trapped for at least a year I think when you win this.

Dear Sir, (Mr Ball ) I am now 53 years old (today actually lol) ... My technical drawing teacher was the biggest man I've ever seen, to this day, he was huge. He , before he became a teacher was in the Welsh Guards. He was strict, he was stoic , and my god you didn't piss about in his class! I was in a mixed secondary school and he would tolerate no shenanigans from the boys. It always made me laugh, they all thought they could get one over on him. Nope! They're two things I remember about him, his sense of humour ( which I now know was questionable with young teenagers!) but, most importantly his voice. This man could rumble mountains, when he sang I felt lifted up inside. My saddest memory was when his wife died. We walked into class and I said c'mon Sir, what are you singing today? In all my life I've never heard such beauty sung like he did that day, he broke my heart, no idea what the song was, it was in Welsh, but we all felt it. His voice , his pain, I can't even begin to describe. No TD was done that day, we all sat around him on the floor in a circle and just gave him love. Even the boys. That was the first time I'd ever seen a man cry. It's a memory I will cherish forever. Not many teachers to my recollection got that kind of love and respect. Mr McGuire, Sir. You were a legend. Mr Ball, Sir...This is what you took me back to. I don't care you didn't win, irrelevant. You got this teach...;) go for it xxxx

Embracing every note sung where especially high notes just grabbed me with pleasure. I enjoyed being raptured into the music and words......wishing someone would love me with the passion like Tom does singing this song. Soooooo beautiful. Thank you for every repeat listen.
