I appreciate the video. I had doubt about ever doing painting. I already started building my Sazabi with decals on it. It’s kinda late I would say. My next one to work on is the Kampfer. Hopefully I get around to it. Thank you again!!👍
You can do it!
Great video, thank you!
Glad you liked it!
Excellent video! Will definitely be using this for when I start with my kits. 👍
Btw do I have to sand for the primer? I know its an extra step for better paint durability in a sense but I don't feel comfortable with that sanding process and would just like to prime and paint etc. Especially since some parts I'm working with are extremely tiny and fragile and I don't want to make them any thinner.
Thanks for watching! I mean primer is made to adhere to any sort of material so sanding BEFORE Primer is not really necessary in a way? Like if you skip that part, primer will still stick on the gunpla part, just like you said, it’s just an extra step that builders take but yeah if you’re not comfortable, it’s fine to skip it 😊
I personally don’t sand every single surface especially when I’m in a hurry, I just sand away the nubmarks and that’s it. Hope this helps! 😊
@@NicoSuratos thank you so much 👍👍!!!
😎👍🏼excelente video, thanks
Thanks!
when i tried priming my gunpla, the parts became thicker and eventually wont fit, is there any fix on this problem?
Primer and Paint adds layers to the Gunpla so it’s normal for it to be a bit tighter after painting. But if it comes to a point where you can’t even fit the parts together, then you might be applying too much primer/paint, it’s too thick.
Either, you can sand all the parts before priming in preparation for the added layers of paint or learn to apply thin enough layers of the primer/paint. You can also mask off the male pegs so they don’t get painted
Question! I recently start using airbrush, but primer seems to come off during "masking" phase. not all of them but "some" part comes off with masking tape...
- I warm washed the pieces, dried them.
- Using Badger Primer
- put masking tape of cutting mat few time on/off to lose the 'stickiness'
- waited about 24 hr before painting/masking
Is sanding required before putting primer...?
Thank you!
Primer is supposed to be the most durable layer since it's purpose is to make the paint adhere to the plastic so it shouldn't be flaking off.
However, there's a couple of ways you can do to prevent it:
1. Sand the parts before priming (I have a video showing how I prepare my parts before painting if you want to check it out) this not only gives the plastic a buffer for the primer to adhere to but also prevents extra tight fit when assembling.
Gloss Varnish the parts before you do any masking. This will protect the paint (or in your case, the primer) from the adhesive of the masking tape.
If nothing else works, I suggest looking for other brands of primer, you should be able to find one that works better for you
thank you!

Happy to help!
how long does it usually take between coats? and how long do i need to wait for the primer to cure before i paint it?
Between coats of the primer? Or between primer and paint?
I apply my paint once the primer is dry to the touch, so usually just minutes.
@@NicoSuratos ahh thank you!
hey nico been watching your vids for a while now i just have a question, my WIP now is the hg nightingale, pretty much sanded all of the surface for imperfections, atleast up to 800 grit, can i prime with 1500 surfacer?
Yes of course!
Do you take apart everything and paint one by one or keep the inner frame intact and paint it whole?
For the inner frame, I disassemble into limbs then paint
@@NicoSuratos thanks for the reply, by limbs i assume you mean you whole leg and arm at once? how do you deal with joins?
Yes, paint left arm, right arm, left leg, right leg, waist, chest, head. I paint the joins as well, I sand before painting.
teach me please.
