To get a UK passport, you will need to find a counter-signatory to verify your identity. And the counter-signatory will be required to provide you with a copy of their own passport's photo page. A family friend qualified, and was pleased to assist. My application was approved January 6th, and my new UK passport has since been printed and despatched.
It depends on the status of your parents. If they were registered as British citizens before 1983 there is a possibility that you might already be a British citizen. If your parents or grandparents didn't complete any formal process until now then you most probably can claim British citizenship.
I was born in india to a British born mother and grandfather and her ancestors. I have applied in da month of June 2022 and 8m still waiting for my decession in nationalism citizenship from the uk home office.its over 3 and half months stil i have not heard from the home office how long should I wait.
My mother was born in Bermuda (British Overseas Territory) in 1965. According to my research she should be able to apply for a passport but according to this video there’s just an additional step to apply as a citizen? If this is correct, would I be able to apply through descent as well with this process? Any insight is greatly appreciated! Thanks for the info 😁
Your mother can definately apply for a passport right away. But, I am not sure if she would be classed as a British citizen or a British Overseas Territory citizen. It all depends on the legislature at the time she was born and Bermuda's status at the time.
Your mother will be eligible to apply for British Overseas Territories citizenship. In 2002 she automatically became a British citizen. So she can hold two passports. The main one is British citizenship. It allows her to live, work, etc, in the UK. If your mother was born outside of marriage, the law changed on 28 June 2022, removing this discrimination. It was retrospectively applied. The BOTC Campaign fought to change the law. Their website can be found on line using a Google search
My mother was born in the UK and was sent back as a baby to Sudan (our home country) all her life she never really thought about applying but two years ago we applied and we sent the required documents and she received her UK Passport and was informed that she is indeed a British Citizen, so I would recommend your mother to take the shot What I want to know is the same as you, I'm not sure if I am as her daughter qualify for applying considering am not a child and wasn't born in UK
Hi! Can someone Please help me with a information. I'm outside of the uk. Applied for British passport few months ago for my first child. They emailed me in February that i can collect the passport. But when i gone to the vfx they told me that it didn't come yet. And we called to British passport office they told us to wait. But it's been 5 months plus but no news yet. Did it happened with anybody?? Does it takes this long to deliver passport?? I'm very worried.
I am from Norway. My father was from Norway, but my mother was from Scotland. So far I would like to have a British passport. Please send me some words. In advance thank you.
He passed away here in San Pedro Sula and is buried in the Central Cemetery of San Pedro Sula. Ve first came to Belize British Honduras that time and he came with his first British wife with whom he had 6 children.. She went back to Scotland with her children and passed away when she was there and my grandfather children remained over there. When my grandfather became a widower he moved to Honduras and met my grandmother over here with whom he had 12 children that already all of them passed away including my mother. When he came to Belize he came working.with the Great White Ship. Company who was transporting bananas to the UK.
I'm 48 born 1973. My dad was born in England in 1938. He had my half sister & half brother & moved to Australia in 1971. His wife died & he met an Australian lady who he married & had me & my younger brother. Do I qualify to permanently move with my daughter ( 12 ) to England
You and your brother are already automatically British Citizens by descent, you just need to apply for your British passport, you'll need your birth certificate and your father's original long form birth certificate.
I also forgot to say they will want registration of the birth of your parents who is a British citizen. Not everybody has that though. It's good to go through an attorney just so they can advise you about your packet that you send in. It should have a cover letter and passport photos as well.
Yes, British Nationality is passed on to the children of British Citizens, regardless of where they were born, this only extends to children though, grandchildren etc are not eligible
No, but the blocker is that you have to find a counter-signatory willing to provide you with a copy of their passport photo page. Who would be willing to that?

Thanks

I have a question my grandfather is from British Virgin islands means is British. Overseas and I m live in uk I would like to know if I cualify for British citizenship by descent or no if my only my grandfather is British
My grandfather was born in Torryburn, Fife, Scotland. He lived in Honduras and had 12 children with my grandmother. None of them tried to get British nationality but I do want to get it. I'm 68 years old born in San Pedro Sula Honduras. My mother was his daughter. My grandfather was british consul in Honduras sometime between 1920 and 1930 and I would like to know if I can get british nacionality. I have photocopies but not original papers and I would like to obtain my grandfather's birth certificate.
I was approved for my British Passport by Descent of my Father born in the UK. Mother born in USA. Currently, I am living in the USA. If I decide to move to England and apply for Employment, do I need another document besides my British Passport, like a British Social Security Card to apply for jobs or will employers accept a passport as work authorization? Will I be invited for a British Citizenship Ceremony or need to take a British Life Test. Thank you for your help.
Yes, you must apply for a National Insurance number when you have a permanent address in the UK. Could you do a Google search for applying for your first National Insurance number?
Hi there, I have just got British passport. My kids were borned outside UK in 2006 and 2008 can I register them as British Citizen for bringing them here. Please reply. Thanks
Your children are only British if when they were born either the father or mother was a British citizen. If neither were a British citizen when the kids were born then they are not British and have to naturalise.
Hello! i am a filipina and i have a daughter with a british national we are not married and no longer together my daugther now is 16 can i apply her british passport or citezenship..thank you for the answer.

I am born in BELIZE Central America my father is a born British national I applied back in 2011 for my nationality but I was denied due to my father an mother never being married but I hear the laws have changed in 2019 can I not register for my British passport and my British nationality can you give me some advice on that ??
The law did change in 2019 for mainland UK-born fathers who did not marry their child's mothers. The law also changed on 28 June 2022, providing the same pathway to children born out of wedlock to British overseas territories fathers, and BOTC mothers with children born abroad. As Belize is a Commonwealth country and is independent, you need to check with a lawyer or directly with the Home Office UKVI to see what status your father will have given these circumstances above.
I am a automatic citizen by descent, thinking I can be a British citizen because I’m a citizen from birth but nope. I have a criminal record over 20 years old . So my british citizen from birth was not true. A citizen is a citizen . I have to apply like everyone else and I can be denied like any one else so I am not a citizen by descent 🤬
