There is NO disadvantage to having a dual citizenship. (I hold 3 passports and have never felt a downside to that; quite the contrary!). Your arguments have little validity. How many people go into politics (0.01%?) or the military (1%?). You fail to mention that you can always renounce your second citizenship if it becomes a handicap. So, there’s no drawback. In your case, your dream of becoming a politician may, may never, materialise. But again, if it comes to it, all you’d have to do is to drop your British citizenship (which is not complicated at all) to shoot for President of Ghana, or whatever position you dream of. It happens all the time. Honestly, any African would be crazy to turn down a Western passport for any reason whatsoever.
Hi @mohameddabo6520. Pls I have always wanted to clarify is it possible to have 3 citizenship say Nigerian, British and Australian citizenship at the same time?
@@omololaokeadeola6161 There can be downsides to having dual nationality. For instance, If you hold an American passport, you’re liable to pay taxes in the US, whether you live in the US or not. This can mean you pay tax in 2 countries. Several other countries have similar provisions.

I've had a the most conflicting conversation of my life with a Ukrainian guy at work who has dual nationality. His father is Russian and his mother is Ukrainian. Basically, I asked him where is he from, he said Ukraine. I said I had never met a Ukrainian person before, then I went on expressing my deepest sympathy for the people of Ukraine for what Putin is putting them through alright. Then to my disbelief, this guy started to fiercely defend Putin as a national hero and condemning Ukraine for protesting against Russia. He went on telling me that according to the constitution of Russia, protesting against the Russian government is an illegal act 🤔 he doesn't care Russia invaded Ukraine in the first place. The irony though, he took advantage of his Ukrainian passport to seek political refuge in London where he presents himself as Ukrainian and enjoys all the benefits but deep down, dispises Ukraine because he's actually emotionally, culturally and politically Russian. I feel sorry for his mother and half of his family which are Ukrainians.
India does not permit dual citizens. Nigeria and UK has no career restrictions on dual citizens, Prime Minister, even the British Secret Service, so far as you are from the Common Wealth.
The idea that someone would betray a country just he is a citizen of another only appeal to government under the rule of ignorance. Knowing the character someone is a science. Uncivilised countries always think along tribal lines but this doesn't work. In the UK, the previous government gifted 290 million pounds to Rwanda without any of the guys being dual citizen.
Any government of any country that cares about its citizens should not allow you to be a politician representing people, if you also have citizenship of another country. Where do their allegiances lie. It is quite absurd, that Boris Johnson was allowed to be a politician in the UK, when he had citizenship of the USA

So Ghana won’t allow you to sit in the Ghanaian Parliament if you have dual citizenship. And yet you could stand for the UK Parliament without even acquiring British citizenship!
Hi, i have a question, What requirements would I need to enter the UK? as i am a dual citizen and I would like to spend the rest of my days there in UK.
My daughter was born in Ukraine 🇺🇦 and has Ukrainian citizenship yet her father is Nigerian 🇳🇬 and I am Zambin🇿🇲 and currently leaving in Germany 🇩🇪.Ukraine too does not allow dual citizenship. I can only imagine the identity crisis this will cause in future because her being a black Ukrainian already raises eyebrows.
Are you not allowed to establish a buiness in the uk if you hold your home country passport? And also really do need more information on how to get a family member here if i set up a business and have work for such individual at hand
Do you want to swap British citizenship for a seat in the parliament of a cesspool of a country like Ghana? Do you really understand the benefits multiple passports bring? Putting all your eggs in one basket is stupid! Also for double taxation, you're not absolutely correct since in most countries if you don't stay for more than 90 days, you ain't required to pay taxes. I'm originally from Ghana, but a legal resident in Mauritius, I have been a Nomad for 8 years and haven't filed taxes in any country during this period. For the US it's a different ball game altogether. As of May 15, 2023, 5,315 US citizens have renounced their citizenship, a sharp increase from the 2,390 who were renounced in 2022. When Tina Turner did that some decades back and moved to Switzerland, many people didn't understand her. It's not as complicated as you wanted us to believe. Many are renouncing US citizenship because of the obnoxious tax system and the fact that the land of the free is no longer free, now an empire of warmongers, deep state conspiracy, Welfare haven with lesser opportunity to create wealth, etc. With your love for politics, you can always renounce your citizenship before you file any legal papers to stand for public office. Those who got into trouble were the greedy ones who wanted to eat their cake and have it back. Multiple citizenship offers freedom of movement without the cost and headache of getting visas. Besides, it presents a lot of opportunities aside from those you mentioned. When things get messy in one country, there is the option to move elsewhere without getting caught in the 'crossfire'.
Great topic. Much appreciated. Only you are speaking very fast . The subject is a bit technical so slowing and pausing mid flow would help us to understand better.
Capital gains from foreign properties are exempt disclosed to the us IRS . As s dual citizen you can chose which ID docs to present to the company reg of that economic region your register your Business Entity. Most countries operate a remittance base tac so unless you remit funds into the economic region it doesn't impose tax. Not only us imposes tax on global income South Africa and Ethiopia do too only they done have sway GCR entities as the US does Consular support only goes as far as arranging legal representation. Or a repatriation flight. Regardless of national security implications People with dual citizen still get security clearance to work on such projects

There is a bill before Ghana parliament to consider dual citizens to hold positions in government,eg MP, any political position except being a president
Hmmm i wont even think twice b4 getting another citizenship that's of great value
This video is enlightening
Well done Nanelle

You’ve really suffered for this Nanelle. Please go for it, you can denounce it later if you still have to enter into Politics 😊
Because of politics???? What happens if you leave office after 4 years 🤔?
Thank you Nanelle, this was informative.
Any government of any country that cares about its citizens should not allow you to be a politician representing people, if you also have citizenship of another country. Where do their allegiances lie. It is quite absurd, that Boris Johnson was allowed to be a politician in the UK, when he had citizenship of the USA
When i got my indefinite leave to remain there in the UK was an expiry date that come with it. I need to apply for citizenship within that time limit.
I get you so if I want to live free I need to get rid of Canadian citizenship when I depart from this frozen water land permanently
Each to their own. Period!!
I like her analysis. Impressive!
Thank you
I have 4 passports.. I fly in to Bangkok on a Western passport , the fly out on another passport which l use in Indo-China (they don't bother about drugs) Then l fly out on an Western passport and London knows nothing.
By the way what is the language you speak, couldn't quite place it.
Dual nationality has no problems at all. It is a choice ,but mind you, your colour and your gen must tell you who you are right.
Have benefit from my dual citizenship since 1999 👍🏾. It’s actually opened up additional business and employment opportunities.
Living- not leaving
In 43yrs ive NEVER known there was a "darkside" to having a dual citizenship.
Because there isn't.

You know that you could just apply for a British passport and not declare that you already have a Ghanian passport.
Are you not allowed to establish a buiness in the uk if you hold your home country passport? And also really do need more information on how to get a family member here if i set up a business and have work for such individual at hand

Ghana and Uk also have a tax treaty.
When things get messy in one country, there is the option to move elsewhere without getting caught in the 'crossfire'.
watch the video to the end ... i concluded by saying the same thing youre saying .
It's because when we became British citizens, we swore allegiance to the king.
Nah! Wrong information....worked in the MOD and have dual citizenship 😢
Great topic. Much appreciated. Only you are speaking very fast . The subject is a bit technical so slowing and pausing mid flow would help us to understand better.
Thanks for sharing, my sister..
Why shouldn't any any African have citizenship from Asia countries?
Capital gains from foreign properties are exempt disclosed to the us IRS . As s dual citizen you can chose which ID docs to present to the company reg of that economic region your register your Business Entity. Most countries operate a remittance base tac so unless you remit funds into the economic region it doesn't impose tax.
Not only us imposes tax on global income South Africa and Ethiopia do too only they done have sway GCR entities as the US does
Consular support only goes as far as arranging legal representation. Or a repatriation flight.
Regardless of national security implications
People with dual citizen still get security clearance to work on such projects
Nanalle why do you want to become a politician as a nurse. What is your motivation for that future career path? Will love to know

Because he was born in the UK. Once you get ILR, your children born in the UK can apply for citizenship
You are absolutely right ✅️ we really need to think about it 🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️.my kids are européens, I'm really thinking if I really need to have dual citizenship in case we need to run back in africa if they is war in the ouest ,having only my African passport may save us to run back in the mother land 🤔🤔🤔

First point and the explanation for it made me laugh out loud because it’s not like any Ghanaian politician has the country’s best interest at heart anyway
oh dont say that
Sorry, there is NO disadvantage to having dual citizenship. Countries simply have rules and laws and if you as acitizen want to take up certatin jobs or positions you have a *Choice like most other decisions you make in life.
I'm still have my Ghana passport I don't think British passport is important for me.
Good Evening

Saying you won’t get a British because of “Ghana” political ambitions is like saying you won’t work because you plan on winning the lotto in the future. Very few people become a judge, head of the army or president. Get all the passports that you can and enjoy it..!!!😅😅😅
To all those in the UK what advice would you give to someone who does not have any qualifications but would like to move there. What steps should o e take
If a child brought to uk as a dependent on health care visa after ILR can the child leave the uk will they have restrictions coming in anytime in their life
oh thats not an issue at all
Nanelle for your information that's a big issue! If you're a permanent resident of Britain you're not allowed to stay outside Britain for more than six months and the same applies to the EU countries.
