  • Time for some more modifications to my 2023 Ford Maverick Hybrid! I just got the bed sprayed with Line-X so time for some extra accessories to make the bed more useful. I've had roll up tonneau covers before and prefer them to the hard tri fold style. I got a Tonneau Pro cover, model# LR-6025 and a bed extender from Amazon made by ADI OFF ROAD.
These are links to the Tonneau cover and bed extender I installed:
    - Bed Extender - amzn.to/44OjQ5J
    - Tonneau Cover - amzn.to/45LyAUc
I started with the bed extender thinking it had all the correct parts, oh was I wrong. The side mounts have the exact same hole pattern as the factory holes, however the install kit only came with screws that were too small for the factory holes. I found some small stainless steel bolts, washers, and lock nuts to use instead. To get to the back of the bolts you have to remove the tail lights. This is done with just a screwdriver. Pull the taillights towards the rear and slightly to the side to get them out of the mounts.
The tonneau cover was significantly easier to install since all the hardware is about standardized with the side clamps. I ended up adjusting mine to the highest "4" setting on the adjustment blocks as it was way too loose prior to that.
Overall installation took about 3 hours. 45 minutes was for the tonneau cover. The bed extender should have taken 30 minutes if the hardware was correct like the Amazon listing showed.
I will definitely be making many modifications to this one, as I do with all of my vehicles. I already added the lane keep assist turn signal stalk and used Forscan to modify the programming and allow it. Check out my other video installing that! I will be replacing the rear view mirror with one that has homelink garage door openers. I will also be adding Ford Perimeter Plus for keyfob remote start and a little extra alarm system.
Also - I'll be doing a tow test soon with a boat to see how it does for MPG and see if it will pull itself out of a boat dock!
If you want to add extra antitheft security to the tailgate from being stolen get one of these locks:
    - amzn.to/3PFECyZ
    Fabric harness tape:
    - amzn.to/3tlu40x
    My spray in bedliner kit:
    - amzn.to/3rEUFVS
or if you want a tintable kit to make it your own color:
    - amzn.to/3RMC6K4
I also do a lot of my modifications with Forscan. You can get a Forscan cable here:
    - amzn.to/3PrG1dr
    Extra Maverick Keys:
    - amzn.to/3tdUMIe
    - amzn.to/45bkhHw

Great video! thank you. I installed one of these extenders on one of my mavericks and you dont necessarily need to remove the tail lights. The extenders stays in place w/o issues by using the coorect size screws, that you are right you likely have to go get them to the hardware store.

Thanks for the comment! If I did this again, I would definitely use my own hardware from a store. Unfortunately the extender was more "universal" and doesn't come with the right stuff.

Is it possible to have a bed cover and a lumber rack? Looks like it is either one or the other...

I'm going to add a bed extender off of a 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac onto my 2022 Maverick XLT. I got the extender for $40 and the hardware for $15.00 When it's finished I will report back.

Ive been watching a ton of Maverick bed extender videos...still havent seen a person show how to put the brackets on. Do yoh have to drill holes on the side of the truck yourself? Directions tell you how many inches?

There are holes on the side of the bed already that match up to the extender bracket. You just need three small bolts. You have to remove the taillights to get to the back side and get a nut on it. This kit had screws and a template if you didn't want to use the factory holes for some reason. The screws in this kit were too small for the factory holes.
