So Post 10 would grind across the grate with his boot to send the (now ground up) leaves down the drain where they belong. Heard him say many times, that that is the best way a lot of the time. Just saying...😏 Great video, keep em comin!
There are plenty of adults in that neighborhood yet they dont care. Thank you young man for caring about people in your neighborhood. Shame on the adults sitting in their homes and watching instead of helping.
That’s pretty cool how the air comes out of 1 drain and gets sucked down the other. This would be more interesting with a tripod, less wandering and more action.
Amazing video, and so satisfying to watch…. But what are you thinking walking in water like that with nothing on your feet! Cuts are one thing but you’ve no idea what’s in the water. Be careful!! And keep up the community work x
Your whole neighborhood system has undersized piping and ventilated improperly. The system can't carry the volume of water and thus it backs up. It's not the leaves.
I'll have to agree somewhat with this comment. However, the system is undersized only in the fact that there aren't enough drains to convey the storm water from the road surface area in a timely fashion. By adding more drains onto/near the road, the water has less likelihood to puddle and cause standing water and flooding. They need curbside catch basins. Those things hardly ever clog. You don't need ventilation with storm drains as the system is designed to handle as much as the pipes can allow. The pipes are normally wide open on the outlet side allowing air to enter and exit as needed. With a combination storm/sanitary sewer, you need venting as that system is designed to run half air and half water.
What your doing would make post 10 proud. If the water is going down that slow, the pipes may be clogged. You should go to the city and see if they could have someone come out and try to snake it out and see if it helps.
Just keep cleaning go up one side and then go down the other side then you could start from beginning. Do you mark your drain so you know where they are in the winter
At 19:00 and several other times, "people throw their garbage in the street". I did NOT see any "GARBAGE" in the street except for one beverage container. What I see are a lot of large trees along the street. When it rains hard and the wind blows, leaves and branches fall into the street and are washed down toward the catch basins (sewer grates) and obstruct the flow. For people that live in a treeless neighborhood or a desert, this might be somewhat amazing, but this is not a unique spectacular world event! You can go to many older neighborhoods where there are mature trees along the street and see the exact same thing. I commend you, though, for taking the time to clean the street and post the video.
This is why we have curbs where I live. Floods the street and not your yard. Also, with those mature trees it looks to me like you just need street sweepers to come by on a regular basis
Timmy, just curios, did you get any inspiration from Post10 to do these clog clearing videos? If so cool. Either way keep at it and you'll get better at both filming the work and doing the work. EDIT: also, if you're planning on doing more of these draining the flood videos, I'd recommend you get yourself a safety vest to make sure drivers can see you in the road, especially in bad weather, which is mostly what you'll be working in for these sort of videos.
Was that a sewer cover or a storm drain cover? Every time I watch this and see the lady with a leaf rake I LOL. That storm drain,17:28 , needs to be rebuilt with a hole in the back for the bigger stuff to fall into it. They build the grates with small holes so bicycles won't fall in, but the small holes also don't let leaves and debris fall into the drain pipes and they end up clogging the drains. You need to tell the city the drain needs to be redesigned with a big hole in the curb to allow leaves and the bigger debris to fall into the drain. edited: It will always flood until the storm drain grates are changed to a different type.
Great set of reposted videos lads. As you’ve seen, people love watching drainage films! Your parents must be proud of the way that you all helped the community. They seem like a decent set of neighbors 👍🏻💦💧☔️☃️
Incidentally those drains need reworking, evidently the covers are too small, as well as the wrong type of cover for the location. Ideally you would have the drains with the oblong drop, as well as the metal straight bar covers that are hinged so you can lift them in an emergency 🚨
@@englishruraldoggynerd Although I'm only 7 mins in the one drain I saw wasn't even a drain it was a maintenance cover with one little square hole in it lol. Plus drainage grates are always beside the curb not in the middle of the road
Stand on the drain and break the leaves up with your feet to send the bits down the storm drain! By just pushing the leaves away, it'll block straight back up again! A lot less strenuous that way, as only doing half the work...... Put the camera on a tripod maybe a good idea too, to much waving around. But a great effort by the way 👍
Pro tip: spray paint a yellow dot above each of those drains. Then everyone' doesn't need to stand around holding rakes and looking like dumbasses. The kid who took care of it this time can find the drains easily and take care of it.
Check out Post 10's youtube channel to see how he does it. He has the correct rake for the job a solid metal rake, not one of hthe flimsy ones use to rake grass cuttings, but the one used for farm work.
What a bunch of armchair quarterbacks. This young man is out doing what the homeowners should be doing and you guys bust his balls . Great job young man. #frogtogg hook a boy up
Homeowners? No. That's what the township workers are supposed to be doing. That's why they get paid via tax payers. If homeowners or even this kid, does it for free, then homeowners deserve a tax cut and those guys deserve a pay cut for not doing their JOB.
All I can think about is all the chemicals and poison leeching out of those "well manicured" lawns. Front lawns are so weird. An invasive non-native species that many people spend hundreds/thousands of dollars maintaining without ever using the space for anything.
I am one of those who find it relaxing to watch water drain and run off, but the way camera moves in this video does not help at all, to put it nicely.. I wish you good luck in life and I hope the future videos will have more sense.. Best wishes..
You should get some cash for doing this...where i am from it is the city who usually cleans the drains..that is nice that your doing it thank you for cleaning them
Clearly the covers are not working, it needs to be addressed and taken care of. It obviously is taking out the road. Redesign of the covers is appropriate in this case.
Regarding the last clip - your priority seemed to show us all the "terrible" flooding while bypassing a drain with shovel in hand. You could have started the clearing process before attempting to show us the flooding, even though it was dark. I concur with the other comments that there is a bigger issue for the clog besides the few leaves on the drain covers.
Once the drains are cleared, stick to them because they'll clog again as they drain. Don't know why 5hey keep walking away. More talking than anything.
Kinda feel like you should present this video at a common council meeting and have the style of street drain reconfigured to something square with a wider opening against the cur to allow for larger debris to drain and go through...
Post 10 you're needed! We need to make a Post 10 symbol we can shine into the night sky!! He'll show up with his rake & fix everything....
Excellent idea.
And film it with his tripod so we can actually watch it properly

It's called a phone number :)
Call Post 10 next time
I know what he’d say, either an internal clog or the culvert is way undersized, but it seeping through the ground like that does not look good.

I wonder if post 10 would consider a merch rake. Plastic for kids and the beginners and metal for the serious more advanced drain clog enthusiast.
You need Post 10 on the scene 👍
#post 10 . is amazing and so are you I love hearing the sound of water falling it makes me sleepy

Storm drain. Sewage is separate.

It not going down the SEWERS, it's going down the STORM DRAINS--2 different things. Now the closed cover they opened WAS a sewer.

expert tip: put a very small pipe down the drain so it can suck air and it will drain immediately
I've been watching your vids. You finally got some help that day. How often does that happen?!
You keep doing what you are doing. Post 10 should be proud of you. :)
How to drain it: clear the drain and then keep clearing it as the debris will build back up. Have someone clearing every drain and youll be fine

Do you not have a local government department to keep the drains clean : too avoid flooding ?
It’s great that you help your community in this way @timmys videos, keep up the good work and don’t let the negative comments put you off!
Good job
The lesson learned here is we should not wait on the government to fix our problems. Grab a rake. Clear your leaves.
Do you have the whole video for the last bit at night as it drained away or did you stop recording?
I have another part of it
Spray a fluorescent vertical stripe on the curb where all the drains are.
Try to more the camera a bit more smoothly, you're going to fast between drains. Positive feedback 👍
Love it. Thanks for TCB!

If the water is oing through a crack in the asphalt it is forming a sinkhole slowly.
