    The guy who owns the gas station has to call a jetting service, like roto-rooter or a plumber who has a jetting truck (and a camera). The drains on his property are not the responsibility of the city. People call drain unclogging services all the time, businesses are no different. If the gas station owner doesn’t know this, it’ll keep happening. If he knows, but he’s too cheap to fix it, it’s his problem, and I’d worry about the state of that building, as well. All that cracked pavement means he probably has to get a new drainage system installed, since he likely has crushed pipes. Then there’ll be repaving, which will cost more. It sucks, but if you buy a business, you buy the maintenance that comes with it, as well. That flooding isn’t the city’s fault.

    • @xheralt
      @xheralt 2 года назад +7

      I wouldn't buy gas from a station if I saw that; underground tank caps are pretty good, but they aren't designed to hold out _standing_ water like that...some water will infiltrate down through the threads and into the gas. Bad for your car.

    • @xheralt
      @xheralt 2 года назад +4

      I don't know how it is in Detroit, but in my city, the municipality's water/sewer responsibility ends where it stubs off from the main pipe, meaning everything from the drain itself out to the street is the _property owner's_ responsibility. If the gas station business doesn't own the property itself, they need to light a fire under the ass of whoever does. Maybe threatening to sue for product ruined by rainwater seepage (as I'm sure is happening) would get action. If the gas station owns the property, they need to stop being cheap and shifting blame and spend the money to deal with it. I'm not going to judge, I don't know which case this is.

    Good drain video. Bad luck for the gas station owner. He really has a big problem. I'm glad you didn't get splashed. You should carry a can of blue paint so you can make a mark where the drain is for the next clog. You know there is going to be another clog. I wouldn't make a big mark, just a small line or arrow so you will have it.

    Advice: with you film something, get long steady shots, as you did around 4:10. You know what you see, because you're there. You see the whole picture. But the audience only sees what you record, a small "frame".
    When you have such an unsteady picture it's really difficult to follow, it also causes headache. I couldn't finish watching. The human brain needs time to comprehend what it sees.
    Also: your phone can record audio. Just say a few words about what the situation is, what you do etc. It's nearly impossible to read the white writing with that moving background.
    Again: headache material.
    The audience watching such content is probably older. Give them time. They are not here for the action. When you are about to walk somewhere tell the audience "let's go over there", that prepares them that the picture will get unsteady and it's an opportunity for you to interact with them. When you're two, don't speak of "I".
    Watch a few videos on how to make good videos. Post10 has nice long steady shots, guess why he's successful.
    Edit: in an urban environment maybe wear gloves 😐
