Mkanya chibba chavo...to show that mtukudzi was humble he took the advice to sing shona not English....and that made Mtukudzi an international superstar jst like Chimurenga legend Thomas Tafirenyika Mapfumo....The two will remain Zimbabwe's own decorated artists both local, rdgional&international
I'm a South African but I have always been fascinated by the music of Zimbabwe and that made me to study the country and fell in love with its subjects I remember listening to chitekete by tembo not understanding the lyrics until one of Zimbabwean friends explain the meaning to me, I never found the people on the African continent so humble, loving and dammit educated, the failure of our motherland had always been the wrong application of leadership
Thank you so much Misheck Nthane for the compliment.yes indeed Zimbas are very educated ,we happen to have the highest literacy rate in Africa. However we sometimes shoot ourselves with that so-called education.Point of collection Chitekete by Leonard Dembo & not Tembo.
Zimbabwean mbira music, i don't know why but whenever i hear this instrument being played "mbira" i sometimes cry alone, i know i'm young but i love this music, it communicate with me
Chimurenga legions of supporters were send into ecstatic and frenzy when Tuku appeared on stage with Thomas Hugo Hurricane Mapfumo.Tge environment was electrified.
Yes he wasnt a jealousy man, lest we forget it was Mukanya who advised TUKU in the early 70s to ditch singing in English and embrace traditional music that depicted our culture.Tuku duly obliged.
They did start out together in the early 70's, so it shouldn't be surprising that Tuku and Mukanya are so close and appreciative of each other's talents
I am a south African, My wife knows that whenever they hear me playing this song , automatically they know there is a problem. This music speaks to me.

Look for Garikayi Tirikoti on RUclips.
It's the music of our ancestors. Maybe it's talking to the ancestors in you.
Mee too my brother it's just an emotional instrument I tell you.
I think Mbiri is spiritual. It's not just an instrument. You are not the only one who does that. A lot of people cry when mbira is played

Oliver Mtukudzi dancing to a fellow musician's song shows he wasn't a jealous person... It takes being humble to appreciate the good work of a fellow
Yes he wasnt a jealousy man, lest we forget it was Mukanya who advised TUKU in the early 70s to ditch singing in English and embrace traditional music that depicted our culture.Tuku duly obliged.
Tuku ,Macheso very sportsmanlike in this industry
Thomas is so pompous that's why he is broke
They did start out together in the early 70's, so it shouldn't be surprising that Tuku and Mukanya are so close and appreciative of each other's talents
