I often wear a wig because I’m an observant Jew. I LOVE how using a wig connects me with people from all backgrounds: many women of color wear wigs! Folks undergoing cancer treatment wear wigs! And also folks with Alopecia also wear wigs. Love how sitting in the salon can connect us from different walks of life ❤️

Beautiful even with no hair! I love the red over the blonde. I got a scare a few years ago. I had to chop my long hair. I had developed alopecia due to the iud I had for 4 years. Luckily it slowly went back to normal after.. I don't know what caused yours. But to someone out there with an iud. That could be it. Anyways.. rock it girl! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I've had alopecia since I was 13. I'm 43 now. At the beginning it can be completely overwhelming. Finding a shop or stylist who has experience with hair pieces is the best place to start. They can help you find what works best for you.

The wig is beautiful, but she looks great bald as well. Beautiful eyes and skin, plus a well shaped head. Too bad losing hair has to be so traumatizing. Shame on society!
This is awesome! How did you learn to work with wigs? Regular cosmetology school doesn’t really teach wig styling I don’t think…this is really interesting since my mom is losing hair and I’ve been getting her clip ins. It’s so awesome to help in this way
@loren. Except most insurances will not cover wigs not to mention co-pays, coinsurance and deductibles. Our yearly out of pocket before covereage is nearly $9,000 and for family, $17,000. That means even if it were covered, I'd have to pay full price anyway. My friends in chemo can't get coverage for them and my alopecia post Covid and autoimmune is not covered so yeah, unfortunately, care like this is not going to be realistic for most women.
Lots of sites and brands for lace wigs that are less expensive ranging from $30 to $400. Even Amazon has wigs. For installs, you can DIY after watching tutorials or find a stylist in your area who does wig installs. If you’re non-black, don’t be afraid to go to a black wig installer. Just ask if they know how to install on a bald or shaved head.
...i have a few questions (like regarding wigs in general): can you wear tight ponytails or styles such as frenchbraid etc, can you do sports while wearing it? How secure is it (i mean she does move around a lot), but still like.. HOW much? And does it still look so natural (as it does here on camera => so looking great btw) in real life? Like, dont you see the lace etc?
Sports are difficult! Sometimes people wear hats for more security but that's not great for maintaining the wigs. It is pretty secure! It would have to get pulled to come off (it is tightened by the neck)

It's grown back, fallen out, grown back, and right now I have about 35% of my hair left. I think I'm just going to shave it all off now. Doesn't seem to be getting better. But hopefully I find a wig that does well with a bald head!
I had to turn to wigs as well due to hair loss. The human hair wigs I purchase from Michelle's hair closet are priced under $500.& with good care the hair lasts 2 years. Best wishes.
Wow they only last 2-3 weeks?! That makes me feel totally different about Locks of Love. Imagine how fast a cold would go through wigs. That would be so expensive

I imagine they're expensive because they're real hair, and if they're cheaper they may be the result of exploitation of vulnerable women overseas.

The ponytail can be tight but it has to sit lower on your head (so you don't see the cap underneath)

the adhesive lasts that long. they just need to glue it down again, and with proper care it will be in good condition for a long time
No! I wash them every 2-3 weeks!! The wigs themselves last for years :) and we dont use any glue or adhesive products!
