good explenation, but i wish you would have taken some detailed close-up shots.....
A tip for those who superglue the nub. Instead of superglue, I put a tiny drop of silicone oil, and it will keep the nub in place to instal. Don't trust me? Try it. :)

@@colbyhowto8535 No, if you use the type of oil we said. Silicone oils are safe on rubber.

You can open up the window in your barrel and your hop up chamber to increase the contact surface even further

A mad bull steel bull is very value, but I like the black python range too, very cost effective!
for positive retention of the nub on the hop arm I use some tub and tile clear caulk. Just a very tiny dab like what would fit on the tip of a toothpick, a little goes a long way and make sure that you wipe off any excess from the sides or it will cause problems with the arm moving freely. This allows for some adhesion to the arm while not making it impossible to remove the nub or destroying it.

Can we flat hop a GBBR? I have a WE Tech 416/888c .. so what Hopup, bucking and nub do you recommend??
If I took it to a shop and asked for a dsg and flat hop will you think they would do it? And how much would it be?
Are promethious barrels good for flathop?mine has a rather small window.i see the krytac promo barrels has a larger window but that was after I bought a regular one.

Just to check, once you’ve trimmed down the inside of the bucking you turn it back the right way in, correct?
That is correct, but make sure that you rotate the bucking so that the "trimmed" part of the bucking isn't the part that comes in contact with the bb.

I have a lonex hop up (m4) on a tightbore w a baton razu black flat hop bucking, I installed it but the bucking clip will not fit, anybody know why and is there any solutions? Help amped please
trim off some of the skirting, seal with teflon tape, trim until the clip fits. The clip is not there tro interact with the bucking, its there to make sure the barrel doesn't move in the hop unit.
We've done it with purple prommy, also prommy bridge type nub and SRC tightbore barrel, stock cyma hopup chamber. If hop is turned off it does not hold bb, it just slides out of barrel. If hop is ON, it holds bb, but only if set too high. Any ideas what is the reason? Help needed.
Correct, this is one thing that will happen if your bucking lips are not holding the BB. With flat hop, you typically have to have a little bit of hop on, otherwise the BBs can indeed roll out of the barrel depending on your hop setup. You should be able to set your hop to the setting you need and then be good to go. -Kurtis
Amped Airsoft hey thanks a lot! Didn't think this will receive an answer. We are somehow frustrated. Tried to use same setup with old stock barrel and now with hop off the BB is in place if tilting the gun down. So is the lip of bucking who holds the bb or the nub/bucking? In any case should we worry and try to fix, or just leave it as is.
No problemo! When it comes to flat hops in most setups, you will need to have your hop on ever so slightly so that the BB is held in place when loaded into the chamber. Ideally, you will want a bucking that has tighter lips for it to not roll out of your barrel. However, if you do not have one, simply setting your hop up to where it shoots the way you would like it and leaving it that way is the best route to go. Who uses their gun without hop up to begin with right? If you attempt to shoot your gun without the hop on and the BB is able to roll out of your barrel, you will get very inconsistent shots.
I personally have the same issue in my rifle, but since I set it where I need it and leave it there, I never see the issue and my gun performs very well despite my bucking lips not being as tight as they should be.
So, I would recommend to install your hop, set your hop to where you like it, and if it shoots good, leave it alone. If it's shooting good, no reason to "fix it". You will find that in airsoft you can literally fix something till you break it when it doesn't actually need fixed if that makes any sense. lol I have spent too many hours attempting to fix something to make it ever so slightly better, but in the end just wasted time. So now if something works, no mater how much I'm tempted to make it better, I typically don't unless I make an agreement with myself going in that I will be wasting a bunch of time on it. haha

don't its absolute overpriced you can g-hop its for cheaper and just as good. my friend bought one and we compared it with my cousin's g-hop >$80 and it outperformed it.

You know, we've been talking about r-hop builds with the tech department and this may be something we offer within the next few weeks. Still talk, but likely.

Sure will. Although it even works better for heavier weights. Yup, you will more than likely need to modify the firefly nub for any hop unit you install it in depending on it's specs.
Why do airsoft rifles not come with a flat hop from the factory, if it's so much better?
More than likely Cost. It's easier to place a nub in the hopup, then cutting one to fit each time. Although I'm sure some manufacturers utilize a flat type nub, not sure who though off the top of my head. Someone will eventually, I'm sure.

@@flavaflomingatown The W hold is a nice bucking but it is very soft. The only down side is that we have noticed that it's performance lacks once you start using heavier weight BBs to it. The Flat hop allows for use of very heavy BBs without issue. Hope this helps!

why dont manufacturers just flat make flat hops in the first place? It seems like it would be a lot easier for them to manufacture it that way in the first place

Not really sure. Probably due to them utilizing older methods and using older molds. They probably make the buckings in the 100s of thousands all at once for cost savings. It probably takes them years to go through them as well. Hopefully they will sometime in the future, but as far as time frame, who knows. haha
You guys should realy tell people to fill that little notch in the barrel. I lost 15 fps and was not sure what is going on. Also I'm not sure how nobody noticed this.
Are you referring to the notch that the bucking notch slides into? If so, we have never had this issue with per say the notch you are discussing. Although a trick you can use to increase air seal is using a small wrap of teflon on the outside of the bucking if you have free space between the bucking and hop unit itself. -Kurtis
teflon tape or dental floss (whipped) will do the trick for sealing this area
You’ll also lose fps because there’s going to be. More pressure put on they bb from said contact increase spring and use heavier bb
