- We finally get round to one of the most impressive Hillclimb events of the Year, Rechbergrennen, the Austrian round of the European HillClimb Championship. With an absolutely tremendous entry list featuring some of the most proeminent Monsters in Europe, here we have plenty of Lancer Evo, Impreza, Porsche in various guises, Skoda units and more battling for a Top Spot that will always be quite hard to attain, given the Local Specialist goes by the name of Karl Schagerl.... Here´s how they placed in the end:

Schagerl’s Golf.Just impressive and always puts smile on my face.
King Karl is back!
It's amazing how everyone is going down to 4 low and Karl Schager arrives and puts another 10 seconds on them...
Things get serious when Karl arrives...
It's not like he has nearly 300hp over the second car and weighs 150kg less...

I’d wager he made up at least a second, potentially even 1.5 on the start alone. He was rapid off the line and made more time across the rest of the climb. The car is fast no doubt.
All the powerful cars and there were some that day lose a lot of time entering each corner… several hundredths at each corner end up losing seconds…
Karl Shagerl's car does not lose as much...
The handling of the cars is for something!
That power slide by that Golf was insane!
Just to make sure we get a visual representation of the difference between Karl and the others....

That Golf is a thing of beauty... What a drive!
Everybody struggling around that hairpin, king Karl just decide to do them all dirty and power slides his way around it at twice the competition’s speed. That man is on a class of his own 🔥
It takes something special to knock it off that Top spot for sure...
Aside from Karl's impressive drive, Joerg with his Beemer Z4 GT3

Good to see hillclimb monsters again, loving that GOLF rallye, Delta EVO and that Sick X-bow GTR. Awesome machinery!! 😂👍
Only a couple of seconds between an old Z4 and a new x-bow gtx is quite surprising. Golf going full send 😎
Joerg Weidinger is a true specialist and a BMW test driver on his day -to-day... ;)
Yeah, It's the driver. You put him in more than 20 years old Georg Plasa BMW 320 monster and he'll beat competition of hillclimb routiners despite some weight and power deficit. It was the same in this Rechberg with this car. Just pure skill. What a driver.
You know it's going to be a good list when the Huracan GT3 is the slowest car on it!
For sure! but im pretty sure that the reason it is the slowest is because of the driver or the setup not the car. Lots of GT3's way ahead of it, older generations aswell and they are not faster on track than the Huracan.
It is a VERY good list of cars for sure..
The Delta sure has some powerful exhaust, at the start line it blows away cones with just it's exhaust :P
Bubnic´s Delta certainly packs a punch ;)

Amazing time from Karl, I don't know if tarmac was at the same condition the whole time, but it still is an AMAZING time. If any sponsors are listening give Karl the support to go at PPIHC and brake the record 😉😛
Now that would be interesting to watch. The Golf would need some modifications but it would go for a quite fast time for sure...

It's a shame, that we don't see Manuel Dondi and his blue X1/9 more often. He seems to be the only real challanger for Karl and his Golf

The Porsche are amazing, don't visually look fast compared to the other cars but still top of the podium.
Werver´s 997 GT3-R is an example of efficiency. Also the driver is quite good ;)
S/O to the 9th place evo for running an Itasha livery, first time I've seen one used in this championship. Anyone know what character that supposed to be?
That was not 9th place. This is a Top 15. It was 14th place ;)

wonder how the 8.1k rpm porsche manages to get a higher specific output than the 8.3k rpm z4 both NA but one does 550hp with 4L the other with 4.4 despite having higher RPM

Golf destroyed the engine at the end, didn't sound cheap...
Looked (and sounded) worst than it really was. It happened during Saturday´s last run and during the night it was fixed, being able to make the two Sunday Race runs ;)
