    Sometimes you just cant wrap your head around how much money some people have. To have houses like this just falling apart and demolished is extremely provocative when so many people have nothing.

    As an old person, some of these homes would be nice as communal living for people on fixed incomes.

  • @BarrettRodriguez

    Sadly, this happens fairly often. Technically, they didn’t abandon them, they were sold and the buyer wanted the land for an investment. The problem is in some places huge and historically significant mansions have been torn down. It’s a huge waste but capitalism doesn’t have feelings. Stay safe and healthy.

      Big red flag is that they were flooded on the bottom floors. Hopefully they will build homes that won’t adopt the basement level! It will probably be offered to those that don’t want to be amongst others being that the area is a small street with little traffic!

    It's a shame the developer didn't take the cupboards, cabinets, stair railings, woodwork, etc., out an re-use them in the townhouses or else give them Habitat for Humanity. They're good quality, great condition and it's such a shame to waste them.

Sometimes I hate to see developers buy properties and put up cookie cutter properties. So glad you are feeling better and back to making content for us. I love watching your great explorations at places I may never get to see on my own. Be sure to take care of yourself, take time for your own self care and safe travels. I loved the 2nd and 3rd. So much beauty left behind. I literally teared up when you stated the homeowners left to upgrade. Seems a little greedy, borderline selfish. How much of that can be re-purposed.

    • @beverlylargent5580
      @beverlylargent5580 Год назад +5

      The owners sold the houses and property to a developer. He's tearing them down to build apartments. I guess if you have money like that to upgrade, you can pretty much do whatever you desire. Since it's going to be torn down, should strip it out for whatever can be reused, repurposed and recycled.

      Well if someone else bought it and they sold it to developers - the original owner can’t control what ultimately happens to their property. So for that reason you sell to the highest offer. (A realtor told me that when I was concerned that I didn’t want to sell our house to a developer.)

    When you showed the downstairs area it looked like a basement that had been flooded at one time. That would have caused the black mold that could be seen on the mattress and on the lower parts of the walls. If it is, that may be the real reason that the owners sold and moved out. All so why it is being torn down. Black mold is hard to totally eradicate.

    So much of this could've been donated to The Restore, or church charities. When I was young, I 'put the line out' to coworkers (I was in carpentry) and when a demolition was going to happen, I and others would look the place over and assess what it would take in resources to get the stuff we liked. All too complicated to discuss here, but to give you an idea, a friend and I have hardwood floors that came from a bowling alley!

    • @misshollyheck2475
      @misshollyheck2475 9 месяцев назад +3

      Almost most of our first built home was all from repurposed hardwood,ECT from my great now deceased father in law who would do exactly what you do .The amount of money we saved in reusing such great and in good condition items Who would have known you could reuse hardwood flooring,windows,kitchen cabinets ...ECT .My fnl once got an entire gym of lockers that he put in his garage .Those were so awesome and antique looking . Probably were there in that gym before I was even born (1975) .So glad to read about ppl like you that are doing the same to keep all this great stuff out of the landfill and save money at the same time .😊😊😊😊😊It might have helped that my husband who passed from lung cancer and my deceased fnl both owned their own wood working shop .That's what built six entire homes for both of my SNL's ,my mnl n fnl ,and me n my husband and four children.We helped built every one of these homes ourselves .

  • @ladydubhblossom
    @ladydubhblossom Год назад +1

    Usually what alot of companies do is tear bathroom and kitchens down and if they’re intact and good condition they will repurpose them for a flip or future sell, or do a construction resell. Depending on what they get, they can use the whole cabinetry again or parts of it as a set. Millionaire houses like this always get top of the line brands so they will probably sell for a nice price for the cabinets and countertops.
    Appliances also bring in really good money. Though many people just get top brands for names or cheaper ones to cut money costs.
    It looks like their trying to just tear down anything with glass since it can be hard for doors and showers without cracking them during certain types of demos.

In the 2nd house, the outside facade, garage in rear, interior layout, and the master bedroom.` 3rd house, the staircase, and foyer. But if I had to one it would have to be the second house. If above was in one home it would have been absolutely beautiful. It's a shame all the basements were flooded as would have liked to have seen how it was set up. Wonder where the families went and what they built. Growing up my bedroom was shared with 2 brother 10 and 12 years younger. I would have loved to had a bedroom half the size of the smallest in these homes for myself. Shamefull to be so rich. Great video, thank you for posting.

    What I find odd is that even abandoned houses don’t usually flood for many years. I was wondering if the flooding was what caused the family to move out. But the one objective for that is why would a developer buy the land…. Unless it was sold for a fraction of what the family paid.
