#PaperMario #TTYD is, in retrospect, probably one of my favorite games of all time. There's this sense of timelessness, being made during a time where the fantasy of the Super Mario world meets the technology of the modern day, where battles could still be classic yet innovative at the same time. I enjoyed the first Paper Mario because it reminded me a lot of this game, which I feel repeats the process but refines it, visually, musically and in its dialogue. It's just fun, man.

ABout Hooktail's gender: NOONE knew what Hooktail's gender was before you met her brother. Koops Dad probably just assumed Hooktail was a dude.

Yeah, the NPCs referred to Hooktail as a "he." Go figure.

Cool fact about thousand Year Door. Those cursed chests ARE the four heroes who fought the Shadow Queen and hid the crystal stars, just after they beat her, she cursed them to be trapped, and the only thing keeping them safe from the curse was the Crystal Stars themselves. But they had to hide them so they wouldn't be used to revive her anyways. So the reason the chests "curse" Mario is because while they're twisted evil spirits, at heart they still are heroes that want to help the next potential person who could defeat the Shadow Queen.
Fun fact: In this game, the Merlon issue is actually addressed. THere's this one guy, I think in Rogueport sewers, who mentions that there's some ancient race/clan where people are named for their professions. So, this Merlon is a different Merlon from the original Paper Mario, but is from the same clan-I-guess, and has the same specialty - that being upgrading your partners.
And I guess in SUPER he used to be a pixl upgrader. I mean, he DID help create a Pixl in Tippi, did he not? I guess he started reading the light prognostics, and made THAT his profession.
But, Merlon from Paper Mario 64 didn’t upgrade your partners, you upgraded them with super blocks you found in the different locations and in the sewers. Merlon in the original acted as a “where the hell do I go next guide”
At least that explains why they look totally different

Fun Fact: Petalburg is not the only Pokemon reference in this game. Chapter one has items called the "Sun stone" and the "Moon stone" that and during the Grodus boss fight at the end of the game, he uses attacks literally named,"Flamethrower, Ice beam, and Thunderbolt."

Let’s be honest here, TTYD is one of the greatest games of all time! It was clear a lot of love and passion was put into these characters, the worlds, and the stories! Games like TTYD don’t come out everyday.

In all other version, the choice to not attack is placed above attack, but in English, the choices are flipped, but their connecting dialogue isnt. Thats why Grodus acts like Mario wants to attack, even though he is doing what Grodus said, wheras if you say "attack" (which is actually Don't Attack in other versions) he tells Mario to stop his blubbering.
This isnt a sin for the script, its a sin for the localization team who somehow missed this.
I can't stop thinking about this game without also thinking about Book of Mario: Thousands of Doors, which, I'm surprised that there aren't enough people who actually know about that.

I haven’t played the game in 7 years after struggling to beat Grodus for the most part only to THEN deal with Bowser and Kammy with less health, FP and items to spare, which lead to me ragequitting for what was supposed to be a short while but of course- I moved and so did time 😤 I miss playing it tho... I’ve been wanting to complete it since.
@@Embyreal Fun fact about the grodus fight, you can pretty much stop him from attacking with fire drive. It burns his staff and he can't use it

@@Embyreal Yeah it's an obscure strat that the game doesn't hint at whatsoever, but it's a really good one. The strat that me and many others went with was getting enough exp to level up after the battle, which will also work

In the Major league, the conditions are more complicated than in the Minor league. My guess is that they're capable of following the Minor league conditions, but the Major league ones are too complicated for them, so they never advance

If there was any one game I WISHED was ported to Switch or something, it would be this. It's the only (old) Paper Mario I've yet to play, and everyone has almost unanimous praise for it. I never had a GameCube, I'd love to see this game get a port so I could play it for myself.
Do you have a Wii? If so you can play it on there with a memory card. That's what I did and it work fine.

I literally sneezed when I saw this in my subs and started screaming in happiness. AMAZING.
I was kinda looking away for a minute while listening and I had to rewind the whole part where he put Shirou saying "people die when they are killed" and I don't know why missing it then realizing what it was made it all that more funnier.

I'm willing to bet he's going to constantly panic over Baby Mario and Baby Luigi being in battle despite the fact that this is the same series where people get away with vandalism (Super Mario Sunshine) and drug-dealing (every Mario power-up ever).

@@erichendricks1906 I don't even have an emulator; so the only conceivable way for me to get it would to find it online or at a store that sells old games. The latter I did manage to find, but they don't have it.
