    The KD 200 ( in germany KD 22A ) is very expensive and you can get it cheaper. I bought a KD10 and removed the lower plates. Then I screwed the KD into my bass drum with 4 small screws. Then I put the head on and cut out the point of the KD10. So I have a normal head with an 8 inch hole in the middle, from which the KD sticks out a little. If you use a black head, it is no longer noticeable. and it works very well. But i would do it only with older or cheaper Bassdrums. I simply pulled the cable through the small pressure hole. You could also use a jack socket here.

      Hello Benni, Thanks for sharing that interesting idea. Good alternative for a less costly option. If you're in Germany, my condolences for the passing of "Der Kaiser." He was one of my favorite soccer players, ever. Wishing you a great 2024. Cheers!

    I can honestly say I have never heard anyone refer to bass drum beaters as mallets before. Interesting 🤷‍♂️. Roland makes solid stuff no doubt and it’s clearly serving you well 👍

      Good catch...OMG, I think my brain went back to my old days in "band" in grade/high school and called them mallets. Yes, beaters. Hope you have a great 2024! Cheers!

    Hi, could you tell us the diameter and the thickness of the metall plate and the foam between the metall plate and the white part?

    second question, would adding blankets inside the drum make it quieter? or little profit/benfit for the trouble

    • @Drumhits
      @Drumhits  9 месяцев назад +1

      Good question. Although I haven't tried adding a blanket, I don't think it'd help reduce the sound. That's because the sound you here in the room (with your speakers off) is coming from when the beater strikes the pad in the middle of drum head. I hope that helps.

      Good question, indeed. I'm transitioning from a TD17KVX kit (that comes with a KD10 kick drum) to a VAD504 (with a KD200) and the newer kick drum is noticibly louder. I'm thinking on trying something like that. If I do, will come back here. Apart from that, amazing video!

    Thanks for this. i bought the VAD504. expected the kick (KD-200-MS) to be a bit smaller though, it says 20x16 inch) but the hoops are pretty large indeed! Question 1: since you do some gigging with this; did you try carrying/storage bags with this, and which size would you recommend? 20x16 might be too small? perhaps 20x18?

      I have purchased a 20" "kevlar"-type of zip-up case and guitar center accidently sent me a case for a 22" drum and it's WAY TOO BIG. So pack my drum throne (seat) in there with other random stuff I need to bring to a gig. The 20" size would have been perfect for just the drum. I also use a Pelcan "flight case" for my Roland Td-50 sound module. I hope that helps.

    Normally you measure drum size using the bare shell only, without the rims so really it is just a normal 20x16" drum.
    I think this Roland drum set is great but when you are looking for just a kick drum I'd recommend going for Efnote or Drum-tec. Their kick-drum designs are way more durable and better designed.

      Hey Tom, you're right. Good point. Thought I'd change it up a bit. I like your idea about Efnote or Drum-tec options. I'll have to check those out next time. Hope you have a great 2024!

      i agree, the efnote / drum-tec people have better shells/drums. but, the modules and especially the digital snare/hi-hat/ride combination of roland still is king. So best is to combine those with a drum-tec kit, but then you end up double the price of e.g. a Roland VAD504 kit

      Yeah, that's what I've also seen. But when I bought this in 2020, I don't think those other options were available, yet. It's exciting to see the e-drum industry is growing and offering drummers more options.

      Or just used a regular heavily muffled bass drum and pedal mounted triggers such as pedal trigger or Footblasters.
